Short horror game that still provides some scary scenes in a nice-looking house. This is the story of a man who has lost his wife and child. Their death messes with his head because he now needs to take drugs to function normally. However, there appears to be certain negative side effects. When he gets home one day, he begins to see his family as if they were still alive. The apartment is small, with one long hallway connecting the kitchen and living room, one door leading to a bathroom, and one to the bedroom. Although it is not in the finest of condition due to stains on the walls and strange pictures with their eyes crossed out, it still looks very good. There is a reason for this: you will be stuck in it from beginning to end. The gameplay uses loops, which means you return to the apartment entrance every time you walk through a door at the end. Each loop adds new occurrences and elements to the experience, making it increasingly strange. First, you must locate the med; the next loop is completely dark, requiring you to search for messages on walls; the next turns everything red, and so on. Because this is a walking simulator, there is not much actual gameplay beyond walking about until something happens. Sometimes you will need to locate medications or interact with stuff. These are easy to find because the game employs flashing lights to direct you to the appropriate area. This is commonly used for the door at the end of the hallway, which lets you know when it's possible to enter the next loop. The only annoying part is a short chase sequence where you have to break mirrors, but it shouldn't take you long to figure out. The game can be finished in around one hour and you get all achievements during a single playthrough.
(Français, voir plus bas) EN 🔷Can't Revert is only 30 minutes long (I bought it on sale). It's difficult to review such a short game, but I'll try. It's a horror walking simulator set in an apartment. We're trapped in a kind of loop, and we have to do small things to progress through it (find an object, for example) and understand what happened. The concept is incredibly simple, and well executed here. There's a particular gameplay mechanic at one point that surprised me and that I found quite original. Graphics are nice, and the atmosphere is slightly unsettling without being over the top. I wasn't terrified. The sounds were just right (meaning there were no gratuitous scary noises like you see in some cheap horror games), and one sound in particular annoyed me... (it was a good thing) you'll understand which one I'm talking about if you play it. The story isn't extraordinary, but it's sufficient for what it is (it's still better than some current movies) and it's well told as we progress. In the end, it doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a good way to pass the time. Is it worth it? => If it's on sale, and you have nothing else to play, then yes. Steam Achievements are unlocked automatically as you progress through the story.
INSTALLING NOTHING
Can't Revert is basically a copy rip-off of PT as it covers all the premises that were introduced with that game which were: Mental Health, Medical Addiction and Family Issues. Its a simplistic storyline with nice visuals, with progression making sense. My only grip was the end game part where you are chased by the ghost of your wife as the chasing part can be very frustrating and took me a couple of tries to get the ending of the game. It doesn't have much in my opinion a horror aspect as there was no creep factor in the toning of it and things that were supposed to scare you. I would say this game is more of a walking simulator than a horror game. The pricing is marginally fair for what you will get from playing this and the achievements for it are straightforward and will achieve by just playing the game completely. My conclusion is if you are interested in playing this game maybe wait until there is a sale to acquire this game.
