very cozy and cute game to relax to
this game is genuinely unplayable on the steam deck. many controls are just not possible on deck, such as opening the inventory. and you are not able to edit controls. how this game is deck verified is beyond me
This was an AMAZING game!! It is cozy but has enough adventure to not be boring. My heart did melt a few times. If you need a break from other games or life, this is a great game to fill that void.
Great CNC game. Cute n Cozy.
I really enjoyed this cheery little game! You've inherited your aunt's old cat cafe, and your job is to get it up and running again while helping out the townspeople with their problems. You get to customize your character and cafe (inside and outside) however you like, though you have to earn the items you want, either by helping characters or earning money through selling baked goods. Time does pass from day to night, and there are a few quests that are time sensitive, i.e. a character wants to take their partner on a date to your cafe in two days and would like you to have some flower decor in your shop since their partner loves flowers. But most of the quests are more finding things, passing along messages, making baked goods to sell in your shop, etc. (And you can also buy a potion to stop time if you are feeling rushed.) If you do decide to play this game, I would strongly recommend you get the Calico Neat Things DLC with it. It expands the quests in the game quite a bit, adding fun surprises and a little treasure hunt in, and without it I think the game would be too short and a little lackluster. Also, there are some good walkthroughs available if you are a perfectionist and want to make sure you find ALL the animals and complete ALL the quests. The one minor warning I have is that this game is meant to be played on a controller - the game itself tells you this when you start playing. I do not have a controller, only a keyboard and mouse. I was able to enjoy and complete the game just fine, BUT there were sections where I could tell having a controller would probably have made the movements you had to do way easier. The main place this occurs is in your kitchen where you are making baked goods for your shop. You magically get shrunk down and have to run around trying to acquire all the ingredients to put into your cauldron, and this was the main area where it could be a little frustrating to navigate via keyboard/mouse. There's a timer running while you try to complete the recipe. No worries, you can successfully finish the recipe even if you don't beat the timer, but without a controller... you ain't gonna beat the timer.
This game is so cute! I've beat it more times than I can count, on steam, xbox, and nintendo! It's just fabulous. So cute! In this game you own a cute little cat cafe in a quaint little town. The townies all have 3 quests for you, some people wanting you to open up the island once again! Again, 10/10, love all of the cute animals and the customization. I have in fact also 100%ed it lol. Please play! It will be worth your time!
I LOVE this game! I cannot get over the freaking adorable characters and animals, the precious lesbian couple, and the fun gimmick of being tiny while cooking. Although I see why people don't love that the game is a bit janky and has bugs, I don't feel it detracts from the experience enough to NOT recommend it (in my case, at least). If you think you might like it, I recommend it! Maybe especially at a discount if you don't like jank.
BECAUSE I LIKE TO BAKE AND BECAUSE I LIKE CATS
an amazing 3d simulation game with an open world with many quests and characters to interact with, could play this forever. its so addicting, with cats and all kinds of animals to interact with and take to your cafe. you can customise yourself as well as the animals and the cafe. overall a really fun adventure game that never gets you bored, if you're a cat lover i highly recommend this game!
Calico is the perfect little escape after a long day. The character customisation is honestly above and beyond for an indie game and sets a new standard, and I absolutely loved seeing queer characters in the world.
