So far, a great story addition to the BUSTAFELLOWS series. Wonderful graphics and writing. I just wish that they included English subtitles for all Japanese audio especially during the brief cutscenes or when there is overlapping conversation.
I would happily pay for the dlc where I get to romance Guero, just saying (hint hint). Bustafellows 2 is everything I'd hoped for so I'm very satisfied. My route tier list has been shaken up and I couldn't be happier. Mozu's route surprised me the most as it was incredibly solid this go round. I absolutely loved it. I'll update my review when I finish but so far I can't complain. Very pleased
Only played one route so far but enough to know that this is really a successor to the first game. Wonderful character development, delightful side characters and lots of bonus content outside of the LI routes. If you liked the first game you absolutely enjoy season 2. If you haven't played the first game absolutely play that first before this one as this is a direct continuation.
This sequel is a masterpiece for sure 🥹 10 out of 10. I love how Season 2 fills the voids and weaknesses from Season 1. You can really feel how the developers listened to the feedback and gave us a sequel that delivers exactly what we needed more. Both Season 1 and 2 complement each other, covering each other’s flaws like broken shards of glass or missing puzzle pieces finally coming together to complete not just the story, but also the depth of the characters. They needed each other. When you look at Bustafellows not just as a standalone game, but as a series (Season 1 and 2), it truly becomes one of the best. I have to admit, Season 1 gave us a more gripping story in every route compared to Season 2. BUT as I said, Season 2 fills in what Season 1 lacked, like the rushed pacing in certain routes. Even though the level of suspense in Season 1 was more consistent across all routes, I still think Season 2 managed to deliver even better suspense in some of them. Plus, the route lengths are now longer and more solid—it feels compact, well-paced, and so satisfying. My favorites, of course, would be Mozu and Helvetica. Their routes weren’t just the most suspenseful and gripping, but also showcased such beautiful growth in their relationship. Their love and development as a couple were portrayed so well here. Even Crow’s character depth is explored wonderfully too. As for Shu and Limbo, their stories already had their spotlights in Season 1, so I’m not complaining at all hahaha, but their story and character depth in season 2 is still quite good tho (esp Limbo in love mode!!) Also, I just love all the boys. Teuta is SO lucky to have them 🥹 This sequel really made me fall in love with all the LIs. They’re total boyfriend material, not just one or two, but all of them. And the way the series ends? The epilogue gave me all the emotions… sad, happy, touched—everything. It finally brings closure to the story that revolves around New Sieg, and I kinda love how it wraps up. BUT… there’s still room for an FD tho 😭 Just a tinyyy bit more and I’ll be fully satisfied.
Bustafellows Season 2- Unique, Charming, and Human in the Best possible way. Bustafellows as a series is one of a kind in the otome sea of everything starting to seem the same. Its innovative and never fails to take the leaps needed even when risky. Bustafellows, to me, stands out unlike any other otome game with a flavor that we're unlikely to ever see again. For a game that is criticized for its "lack of romance" i felt that the romance in this game was more intimate and realistic than perhaps ANY other otome game thus far, building even further on this with season 2. The balance of romance and story in this game is simply handled masterfully and has found the perfect balance for an otome game. To me, it blends together everything that makes games like Collar X Malice good (mystery, in depth story, and tackling darker topics) as well as everything that makes games like Cupid Parasite good (Romance, comedy, and overall charm with the campy fake-American feel). No other otome game series amazes me quite like bustafellows, it has you hooked and never lets go of that feeling, keeping you on the edge at all times while also being hillarious and focusing on the most deeply human traits of society. Every character in this game has their own story, their own associations and world view, and most importantly, they all feel very distinctly human and important no matter how small. Every single character here very clearly lives their own lives, and that can be seen even through the way that they speak with such expert translation. Every characters personality shines through and they all just feel very fleshed out and real, like people that you would meet off the street no matter how absurd their jobs or circumstances may be. Perhaps the biggest leap bustafellows as a series takes is Teuta as the protagonist. Teuta has a sprite, a voice, a personality, and a story. She was not just spawned into this world to date these guys like many other otome game protagonists where it feels like their story and life starts at the beginning of the game. Teuta has her own friends, memories, and values, and we are put into Teuta's life not at the beginning of it, but in the midst of a life lived with determination. The same goes for the love interests, they all have their pasts, EVERYONE in this game does. The lives and characters of these people is exceptionally real and it makes the drama and injustice exposed all the more important. Bustafellows dives into the good and bad of humanity, it leans into that gray area in a way that most games would be uncomfortable doing. "Even bad guys have the right to defend themselves." Limbo's protection over those who may be viewed by the public as bad makes this all the more clear. Criminals are still people. Everyone is human. Illness or drug use may cover this up and make people act irrationally, and all though that can never be forgiven and must be atoned for, everyone has their reasons and right to defense and it does not negate who they are at their core or the good things that they have done. Zora is the perfect example of this and I was very glad to see his story and character even more fleshed out in this game. Zora is a risk of a character, that in my opinion, pays off perfectly. The way that he lingers over the story and characters is just a perfect role and the fact that Zora was a good brother is never negated. He did bad stuff, he was a horrible person, and that is to be detested, but Luka never once blames Teuta for still loving and missing her brother despite this. Zora is perfectly nuanced. He was misunderstood, a good person at his core until the world turned him bad. Until he fell to drug use and became a horrible person. And in death, he is remembered as both. For both his good acts as a police officer and brother, and his bad ones as a criminal. And i think this characterization of Zora builds up the foundation of bustafellows views and morals exceptionally. Everyone is human, and humans should be judged for everything that they are, everything that makes them human, and remembered for that in death. This all builds up, it creates emotions in people in all sorts of different ways, because everyone has different ways of being human, but everyone should be remembered and recognized no matter how bad. Justice will prevail only with this nuance to human nature. No matter how much grief, sadness, anger builds up inside of you due to the nature of human life and its inevitable end, eventually, you must let go. The end of the game conveys this perfectly, Guero letting go of his malice, the one thing he must always keep with him, and deletes his voice message of his family. There is no need lingering on the past or holding grudges. There is always time to make ammends. Much like Carmen taking in and loving Alex as a son despite all the pain he has caused her, we should learn from her and love those dear to us no matter what. Be willing to forgive, to understand, and to let go. That is what humanity is all about.
Loved the story so far thought I got a bad ending in a route but that was just what was going on at the time
