In short, and as someone who absolutely adored the first game, I can't believe I'm saying this: this game is boring. And a mess. The romance aspect is...fine, if that's the only thing you're interested in, but everything else that made it Bustafellows - the time travel, the determined and clever protagonist, the crime drama, a big mystery that connects everything in the background - is either gone or watered down completely. The protagonist is basically useless in her own story, making dumb decision after dumb decision, if she does anything at all. The new characters with all the fancy marketing - Juno, Guero and Watcher - are only really important in the prologue and epilogue, and their storylines are resolved super quickly. The main mystery is equally barely mentioned until the end, and doesn't actually feel like an important part of the story. The writing is all over the place, with some routes filled with useless moments that just pad the story and make you scream "oh my GOD, I do not CARE!". The ending is a weird mixture of rushed, unresolved plots, things swept under the rug, and the writers maybe trying to bait a third game as an excuse. It almost seems like the focus was on the relationships and relationships only, which is a MASSIVE downgrade compared to all the love and care you could feel was put in the first game. A massive and unfortunate disappointment overall.

My honest review.... I really really enjoyed the first game, so when I found out that the game had a sequel and I stalked the hell out of the second game and instantly bought it when it came out. I was so ready to dive into another story and learn more about what is happening in this story. And that's where it began to be an issue. I don't know what is different to be honest, I found I really struggled to get through the stories. I have only completed two routes, TWO ROUTES and I am struggling to find the energy to continue. I was hitting the enter bar left right and center, I got BORED with the both routes I took, Limbo and Shu and I ADORED SHU in the last game. His story was my absolute favourite. But maaannnnn....I reached the end of the story and the romance was boring, there wasn't much intimacy, I felt very underwhelmed by both routes and I am not even sure I am going to bother with the others....it was THAT hard to continue. The graphics in this story are great, i love it. I loved the animations (when they showed up) and the voice acting is top notch. The odd spelling/grammer issues with the english sure, and thank god the menu is easier to navigate on computer this time then the previous game, but yeah....this season is just not doing it for me. And Season 1 Bustafellows is what got me into Otome games, I always base all other Otome games off this one, and I have to say, this season is just not working for me.

Helvetica got the best route this season! 💖 Overall, I’d say it’s a good sequel, I really enjoyed both Season 1 and Season 2. I just wish the game leaned more into romance this time 😭 but the kiss CGs were gorgeous though The only critique I have is that there’s no recap from the first game. Since Season 1 was localized back in 2021, so it can be very hard to remember the story again and their relationships. Still, I’d recommend the game to anyone who liked the first one. Also... hot daddy Guero needs a romanceable route!! 😭

I didn’t even like Helvetica in the first game, but after playing this, he became my favorite instead of Mozu 😭💀

honestly all the progress with the romances from the previous game this feels like a major let down and feels like we are returned to step one, and our choices (let alone really stupid ones) feel as if they don't even matter...i would buy this on a sale but not pay full price. i'm really sad to say this because i love the series and the story of this game!

Just finished my first route, but I know I'll be here for a long time, and then replay some. I'll start with the short answer, then I'll ramble mostly for myself because this game title means so much to me. Shortly put: This is a fun and intense game and it has really good stories and empathy checks to offer. I recommend it if you don't care about the romance aspect as much bc it's not solely focused on it, unlike other games. The art is amazing, the cast is great and the music is fun. I like the series-like experience with intros and PVs and all that jazz (I kinda miss the way it was handled in the first game because it was more defined and split into episodes), it keeps me hooked. My only wish was for them to have handled the parallel dialogues localization differently... I had to open the log each time there were voices in the background to see what they were saying. In some extras, they end with the dialogue bar gone and I can't open the log anymore to see the last lines. Well, not a huge loss overall, I just believe they could've programmed that a bit differently, is all. Is this worth its price...? Y-..not really, I was personally a bit shocked to see it for the first time, but thankfully I had some help to get it early. I recommend waiting for discounts nonetheless. Emotionally put: I believe this is a really good sequel to the first game, there are loose ends that get tied up and, as always, really intriguing, real topics approached. Pretty harsh realities in some cases as well. I can simply tell that the writers came from a good place of heart and I appreciate their boldness with this. I'm big on romance oriented stories, but I'm genuinely so refreshed by this one's approach. The romance is just a part of life here, and they put value on the rest of the cast too, be it main cast or side cast. This game has to offer so much more than your typical otome game experience. It basically allows you to see a story through the eyes of the cast rather than trying to appeal to a 1st pov self-insert. And I LOVE the way the MC is her own character, with her own lore, family, voice, dreams, and personality. I love self-insert-y stories too, but this one, rare - as I noticed within the otome genre, is more up my alley. I love the found family trope in this, it makes me appreciate and love the cast even more. Everyone is just so humane, have their own flaws and deliver their emotions in a rather organic and relatable way too (Scarecrow is me. I am Scarecrow lmao). I simply Love this cast to bits, it gives me comfort and joy whenever I remember about them. The love interests are allowed to appear in less ideal stances, we see their ugly sides too, their hardships, their struggles. They feel so... real. I know otome (especially older gens) usually try to deliver perfection, dream-like prince type of characters who wouldn't be weak or dare to appear in a 'pathetic' light. Whereas there's nothing wrong with that, I just love to see that this game allows this romanceable cast to be messy, troubled and even cry sometimes. They're all just so complex and I could write essays about each one of them tbf. Besides, all those flaws and troubles of theirs make their acts of kindness and selflessness and love much more precious and endearing. Much more meaningful. I just like that this is their story to tell, barely mine. Mine is only the comfort and happiness I find in playing this game! So if anyone else values things in these games similar to me, then... you really have to give this a try. Especially if you love action, drama and comedy driven stories haha PS.: MAN I REALLY WISH THIS HAD STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS AND COLLECTIONS I'D EAT THEM UPPP

I would happily pay for the dlc where I get to romance Guero, just saying (hint hint). Bustafellows 2 is everything I'd hoped for so I'm very satisfied. My route tier list has been shaken up and I couldn't be happier. Mozu's route surprised me the most as it was incredibly solid this go round. I absolutely loved it. I'll update my review when I finish but so far I can't complain. Very pleased
