Reviewed using HTC Vive Pro
Coffin escape that delivers on claustrophobic effects. I liked as seated with focus option on. That seemed to add to my thrills. I really liked it 🦇 So come on you cheep asses it's only $.99
So I got this game free in the Curator program to review. I don't know the dev and a free game for me does not impact my decision in any manner whatsover. I buy 99% of the games I own and I own a lot of games. In the end, I rate games based on their price and what they offer. This is a very close call for me because there is a good game here and it's very cheap, but the negatives outweigh the positives so I can't recommend the game. So what's wrong with the game? First of all, the description is not accurate. Motion controllers don't really work. You're basically using the Touch controllers as a game pad. It's just a gaze and then press button mechanism. You could also use a pure gaze mechanism. I actually found the pure gaze mechanism to be better. Because pressing the button on my Touch controls seemed very unresponsive or lagged. I had to go slow and press the trigger button for it to register. It was very frustating selecting items. I can forgive the above, but I can't forgive the next problem. You can choose either a man or a woman Buried Alive. When I chose the male, I got stuck on a puzzle. It turns out, when I chose the female the next time, the papers that I had picked up earlier somehow all came together and showed a clue that is needed to progress. So I got stuck on a puzzle, simply because what should have happened, didn't for whatever reason. I can assure you that I took exactly the same steps and I was just lucky that my second time the clue actually popped up. So it seems there is a bug in gameplay that may prevent you from progressing, which is unfortunate in a puzzle game. Getting stuck for something that isn't your fault is a fatal error in a puzzle game. The third thing that is wrong with the game is the ending. I will do it spoiler free but it's really a warning so I would recommend reading it. Here's the end spoiler:
You warp forward about three times, then you get to a little girl ghost. She then proceeds to yell in your ear, twice. I guess it's a screaming jump scare. My ears hurt and it was not pleasant at all. Awful ending.
The graphics weren't great. The UI and gameplay were clunky. I liked the puzzles. The puzzles were logical. I think the whole experience maybe is 10 minutes long. I got stuck the first time so I don't have the best estimate. But it's a very short puzzle escape room of 1 scenario. I would say it's worth .99 cents if it all was polished. But it's far from it. Rate 4/10. Needs updates to be recommendable. Would be a really good game if the graphics and sounds were updated and if touch controllers were useable. Then I could easily recommend at .99 cents. Buried Alive should be a harrowing, immersive experience, not a clunky, frustrating experience.

Buried Alive VR is a small demo/gimmick game where you are trapped in a coffin, you solve a couple of puzzles, get a couple of jumpscares... there's very little of interest here, with mediocre (possibly uncredited stock/third party assets), generally poor visuals, and very weak gameplay. Not much of a game. While reviews are about the games, one brief note in case potential buyers are interested in who they're buying from, it seems the developers here, according to many forum posts, tried to scam gamers by pretending "the dog ate their source code" (and other such lame excuses) and therefore they have to remove the game from Steam (huh), which triggered the "risk of removal" game collectors who make a hobby of buying games that get deleted (FOMO extremists I guess). After scamming those gamers the developer miraculously found their source code (which has no bearing on whether a game is listed on Steam or not) and cancelled the removal of the game. Ugh. Anyway, like I said, it's good for prospective customers to know if the developer is unethical or suspicious. Now, as game reviews are about the game, here's the technical defects and why you shouldn't buy this. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Buried Alive VR is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
I liked this game, but I felt it was quite easy and very short. You only have 1 view of the room you are in (The Coffin) so you don't need to move around and look for items like in other escape type puzzle games. Would love if there were more levels with different and more difficult puzzles.
If you complete the game you'll probably only complete it once, but its worth playing for 79p. I had this on Oculus Go but could never work out what to do. I played the Steam version using a Quest, and was able to solve it in 15 minutes because of the much better graphic detail.
10/10 Fantastic little scarefest. Great for exposure to claustophobia too. This is the kind of thing VR was made for. Use revive "inject" feature to get running on the vive.

🇬🇧 Its a nice concept but I lost interest in the puzzles relatively quickly. Would e good to have some more hints or voice interactions. I had to use the look interaction system because I was using a rift s and my controllers were not supported and the puzzle box made me crosseyed when it came up close.
