Bugsnax is one of my favorite games ever. It has really good graphics (and doesn't run like crap on my PC), it has a funny and interesting cast of characters, good music, and the gameplay is very fun. The ideas and designs for all the different Bugsnax are really creative. Spoilers for the story and ENDING of Bugsnax [spoiler] Playing as a journalist is really unique (atleast I've not played any other game like that before), and the ending and twist is just crazy. I played this game a few years ago and bought it again to play it on Steam, and WOW. The finale was way better than I remembered. The music in the Undersnax and Escape from Snaktooth is really good. The final battle against the Bugsnax is also epic. [/spoiler]

Beneath the silliness, the story explores themes of ambition, identity, and belonging in a surprisingly thoughtful way. Where Bugsnax really shines (and stings) is in its ending. Without spoiling too much, the cheerful tone gives way to something darker and bittersweet. The truth about the Bugsnax and what’s been happening on Snaktooth Island is unsettling, and it reframes everything you’ve done up to that point. Characters you’ve grown to care about face genuinely tragic choices, and the mystery’s resolution leaves a lingering sadness amid the whimsy. It’s one of those endings that sits with you — emotional, strange, and unexpectedly haunting. Overall, Bugsnax is more than a quirky creature collector; it’s a heartfelt and cleverly written story about curiosity and what we consume — literally and metaphorically. Its final moments remind you that even in the cutest games, not everything ends happily ever after.
