I'll address some of the the negative reviews. Firstly, in my experience, Xbox controllers work fine, as long as you disable Steam Input for this game (Google it). Secondly, if you are having trouble with the game speeding up on high refresh rate monitors, just turn your refresh rate down to 60hz while you play this game. If you don't know how to do that... Google it. The price? Yeah it's a bit steep but you can pick it up on sale or even find a cheap Steam key somewhere. If you're not sure where to buy Steam keys, guess what? Yup, Google it! Frankly, it's worth the £10 I paid on sale just for the original game, which I've played and I love it (it works just fine and I don't have to wait for it to load up on my old C64 this way... or get my old C64 out of the loft first). The button configuration seems pretty intuitive to me, so I don't know what that other guy's on about and the new gameplay seems ok, as long as you got it cheap. Looking forward to playing couch coop with my kids.
The all time classic game, without bugs + new special game
手柄控制器用不了,只能一个人玩。
juegazo ,solo me gusto el modo arcade original, soy un jugador de la vieja escuela.
官方内容少的要死,超过20不值
Having the original in the game is great. However only buy this on sale. Very expensive for a game that the modern take is not really worth playing. Makes you appreciate the original game. Anyways it is worth playing thorugh at least once if you are a bubble bobble fan.
等你手把支援弄好再改評價 動作遊戲沒弄手把 只能用鍵盤玩... 埃 可以四隻一起玩的遊戲耶...
バブルドラゴンさいこー!
the game is really cool, a good nostalgia coming from the SNES and the NES 8-bit. Although the Hard Mode is extremely difficult. The Hard Mode seems super hard. Well, I thank God for not having a super hard mode, But if you like games like this, I highly recommend it.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron's Workshop successfully demonstrates how a legendary arcade franchise can be refreshed for modern audiences without sacrificing the straightforward gameplay that made it a classic. Developed and published by TAITO CORP., the game preserves the familiar bubble-trapping mechanics while expanding the experience with additional content, cooperative features, and creative tools that make this version far more substantial than a simple remake. It strikes a satisfying balance between nostalgia and innovation, making it accessible for newcomers while rewarding longtime fans who have followed the series for decades. The gameplay revolves around a deceptively simple objective: trap enemies inside bubbles before popping them to clear each stage. While easy to learn, the mechanics quickly reveal surprising depth as players must account for enemy movement, environmental hazards, and the strategic use of bubbles as temporary platforms. Every level introduces new layouts, obstacles, and enemy behaviors that encourage experimentation rather than repetitive play. Precision, timing, and quick decision-making become increasingly important as the challenge escalates, ensuring that the game remains engaging throughout its lengthy campaign. One of the game's greatest strengths is its emphasis on cooperative play. Supporting up to four local players, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends transforms into a lively party experience where teamwork is often the key to success. Coordinating attacks, rescuing teammates, and maximizing combo opportunities create memorable moments filled with both excitement and laughter. Even for solo players, the level design remains enjoyable, though certain stages naturally highlight the advantages of cooperative strategies. The Chain Burst Bonus system further encourages coordinated gameplay by rewarding players for eliminating multiple enemies simultaneously, adding an extra layer of strategy for those pursuing higher scores. Beyond its main adventure, the game offers an impressive amount of additional content. Completing the primary campaign unlocks a more demanding Hard Mode that significantly increases the challenge through redesigned enemy placements and tougher stage layouts. The Arcade of the Future mode introduces another hundred difficult levels that demand mastery of the game's mechanics while incorporating skill unlocks, time-based rewards, and optional training features that help players refine their techniques. These additions substantially increase replay value and ensure that experienced players always have new goals to pursue. The Steam edition distinguishes itself through Workshop Mode, which allows players to design, share, and download custom stages. This feature dramatically extends the game's lifespan by giving the community the tools to create fresh challenges long after the official content has been completed. The level editor is a meaningful addition rather than a novelty, allowing players to experiment with enemy placement, stage structure, and environmental hazards. Combined with online leaderboards, it fosters an active community built around creativity and friendly competition. A particularly welcome inclusion is the original 1986 Bubble Bobble arcade game, faithfully preserved for players who want to experience the franchise's roots. Rather than serving as a simple bonus, it provides valuable historical context and highlights just how timeless the original gameplay remains. Optional visual enhancements, including classic display filters, allow players to recreate the authentic arcade atmosphere while appreciating how far the series has evolved. This thoughtful addition strengthens the overall package by celebrating the franchise's rich legacy. Visually, the game embraces a bright and colorful presentation that perfectly matches its cheerful tone. The transition to modern three-dimensional graphics retains the charm of the original character designs while creating vibrant environments packed with personality. Smooth animations, expressive enemies, and imaginative stage themes keep every level visually appealing without sacrificing gameplay clarity. The soundtrack complements the action with energetic music that captures both the playful spirit of the series and its arcade heritage, creating a consistently enjoyable audiovisual experience. Although the gameplay remains highly entertaining, its deliberately traditional design may not appeal to players looking for dramatic mechanical innovation. The core objective remains largely unchanged from stage to stage, making the experience feel repetitive during longer sessions for some players. Additionally, while the Workshop offers virtually endless user-created content, the quality of community levels naturally varies. These shortcomings are relatively minor, however, considering the generous amount of polished official content included from the start. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron's Workshop succeeds as both a respectful tribute to an arcade icon and a worthwhile modern platformer. Its satisfying gameplay, extensive post-game challenges, cooperative multiplayer, creative Workshop tools, and inclusion of the original arcade release combine to create a feature-rich package with lasting appeal. Rather than relying solely on nostalgia, it meaningfully expands upon the classic formula while preserving the charm that has kept the series relevant for generations. Whether played alone, with family, or alongside friends, it offers an entertaining and polished experience that honors its legacy while remaining enjoyable for today's players. Rating: 7/10
