This is a charming little platformer
Треш для г...ноедов.
This game is really, really good and I urge you and everyone to play it. It's a ludicrously fun romp through an inventively designed, late-90s styled 2D platformer accompanied by a joyous, bouncy soundtrack and ladened with fun mechanics, intriguing secrets, and some real intense difficulty. Seriously, I can't believe I got past the motorcycle segment, that was something else. However, despite the ever-rising difficulty in the game, it never gets tedious or irritating and, each time I died in said motorcycle segment or that one vertical, Doodle Jump-esque level, I never felt like rage-quitting and rather that the game wanted me to get better. I know I literally never write reviews for games on here but I feel compelled to write one for Bryce's Movement Engine because it astounds me more people aren't playing this game. It's tremendously fun, stimulatingly challenging, has a great soundtrack and it's little oddities all go towards furthering the eccentric and unique feel of this pretty unique and raucously fun game. Also, it's completely free-to-play. Just play it.
the first level and first boss is way harder than the final levels and final boss so i had to use cheat code other than cool game its like super mario in the future
Bryce's Movement Engine is a somewhat more "serious" attempt at a 2D retro pixel platformer as it genuinely does capture the look and feel of a C- reject game from the 1990's that you might find stapled to a box of cereal. It's a lulzy 2D retro pixel platformer with a list of defects that wouldn't have registered a blip in the 1990's but make a game unacceptable today. The core gameplay is platforming but there are other game modes as well like a Skifree ripoff (and you can play Skifree in a web browser, so no need to download this one). I understand that a deliberate choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. The overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result, it exists that way only for nostalgia purposes. But the thing is, nostalgia can be accomplished without resorting to ultra lazy measures. This would have been a lot better if it was 3D rendered and stylised retro, like Valheim, for example. So the game isn't going to get a pass for looking bad on purpose. It could be done better. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. The game isn't really free as the developers have their hands out for paid donation DLC (the really mediocre soundtrack), basically digital panhandling. If you really want to play a 1990's platformer, Commander Keen is on Steam, try that. But as the old saying goes, you can't go home again.
