⭐⭐⭐★ ★ Meddiling muggles have you in a muddle? Can't be arsed chasing a small near invisable ball that is an ultimetly OP way to win game? There has to be an alternative!!! Introducing "I can't believe it's not Quidditch!" You're a VRizard, Harry.
It may have potential, but it's not really in a playable state, and it's not really showing it. First off, there doesn't seem to be a way to swap hands, and it doesn't seem to follow the conventions of the hand icons on the controllers in the Steam menu. It's not explained yet, but the play button just sends you to the tutorial. As it stands, the flying feels a little wonky, and there don't seem to be any solid gameplay mechanics. It's not well tuned at all, as the fireball speed seem way slow, and the throwing speed *way* fast. Overall, it doesn't really add to VR, and doesn't really implement most common immersive VR interactions. It feels like an alpha build, not ready for public release, but here we are. I understand that it is in an early state, but I can only judge it by what's there, and while it would be cool to get that well polished game, there's no indication yet that it's going to be done well, or at all.

Broom Ball is great! The flight mechanics are excellent, the best I've seen in VR. It's lots of fun flying around throwing bocce balls and blasting wraiths with magic. I'm looking forward to playing the full game when it comes out!

New Negative Review 18 Sept. 2024 = Broomball VR was a VR game. It does not work on Win 11 system. Does not send display to Vive or Index HMD, but it shows up on the desktop and play the music in my headphones. Don't bother downloading now. Old Positive review Broomball VR is a VR game that is basically a port of Quidditch from Harry Potter. It worked on my HTC Vive system, sounded ok, looked ok, played ok. The flying works ok and did not cause motion sickness or veritgo. The game is not coded right, the Play only sends you to an endless tutorial. You throw a big ball in to the hoops to score, but you can throw ball that way too easy and too far. You can shoot fireballs from your free hand to knock out skeletons on brooms firing at you, but the fireballs don't move correctly. This seems like a demo or a teaser experience. CONS: Does not work with Index. Try it and delete it.

This game is basically a tech demo allowing you to: Fly, Shoot a fireball, and Throw a ball mimicking the sport played in Harry Potter: Quidditch. Unfortunately the game is basically 3 tutorials teaching you each of these concepts. While the screenshot shows you a "Play Broomball" option, it will just walk you through the game tutorial again repeatedly. But its a free game. I suggest waiting to see if this game is updated and developed more before trying it as you'll spend about 5 minutes in the game and then never touch it again as you've experienced it all.
How is this not early access? It doesn't look finished. The graphics are unimpressive, and I can't even get the actual game to start. When I try to actually play the game, it just starts the tutorial again. The AI movements are beyond ridiculous, and the controls aren't so great either. I like the idea of a Quidditch game, rip-off or not, but this game sucks.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Well, this app no longer works. The tutorial works fine. But once you try to start the game, it goes back to the tutorial. There's no way to play the game. I think maybe the servers are offline. Game should be taken off Steam. The tutorial was actually good. I don't know what happened but this was a potentially very good game. Would have been a really good PvP Multiplayer game for VR. I hope someone picks up where this dev stopped. The idea is good.
