If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. It's basically the same game but with a Y2K theme and some improvements on gameplay. Devs are quick to update the game and after a week it's already much more polished that on release (which had less bugs than a Bethesda or Ubisoft games mind you). So it can only get better from here. Highly recommend if you love the 2000's.
Waited 8 long years for this game. So far it seems broadly worth the wait. I wanted VR support, but evidently that's on the way. DMT has knocked another one out of the park, BR2000 is a worthy sequel & instant classic

As a big fan of the first game, I was super excited for the sequel and it definitely didn't disappoint! It's aesthetically stunning, and the level design is spectacular and the whole world feels a lot bigger than the first game. It was a shame not to have a map, however I understand that in areas that were intentionally maze-like it would have ruined the puzzle if it just told you where to go. Pros: -I adored the soundtrack and regularly get the music stuck in my head even days after finishing the game. -Was immediately excited to see the return of some characters from the original game -As a millennial, the museum and cinema areas both gave me such a great hit of nostalgia, and I also loved the frutiger aero theme of Nexus -Visual aesthetics and textures were, as always, phenomenal -I really enjoyed the ending sequences -I was glad to see more puzzles in this game than the last, even though some of them felt pretty difficult -There were more areas to explore than the first game, and they were much more detailed and had more varied mechanics than the first. -The new tools were REALLY fun and satisfying to use. -The quests were fun and gave me incentive to interactive with the world instead of just observing it. Cons: -It was sometimes unclear what the game wanted you to do, in particular because of some of the NPC dialogue being too vague/confusing (there's one particular area that I've seen a lot of players get stuck because of this) -On initial release there were some game breaking bugs that thankfully have been fixed. -Limited settings menu that is, to be fair, still being updated. But as someone who has already finished the game, it kinda sucked not being able to make mouse sensitivity any higher and it could have done with a setting to turn off bloom as that got a bit obnoxious in some parts. -Similarly, walking speed has apparently been fixed, but during my playthrough it was very slow so made the game tedious. There is a reason for this, as you are able to go faster later in the game, but boy it made those earlier sections a pain to get around. In general, I loved the game possibly even more than the first! It seemed a little more serious, but still didn't take itself TOO seriously and I got some good laughs out of it. I've seen a lot of people complain that the lore didn't quite track, however I didn't really pay much attention to the lore in the first game so it went over my head anyway and I didn't really mind. The amount of bugs/glitches in this game that are still getting fixed makes me think that maybe they should have cooked for a little longer before releasing, to make sure that the game was more fully formed (it's annoying as a Day One player to see bugs fixed after I already completed the game), however I was so excited for this game that I actually could not wait any longer for it to come out so I kind of wanted it sooner than later even with bugs lol. I highly recommend this game, and have been begging everyone I know to play it. You can get truly immersed in this game, and lost in the world in the best way, and it's the best visuals and level design I've seen in a game for a long time! You can tell the devs poured so much heart and soul into this game and it absolutely pays off.
Really good walking sim with puzzles and a zelda-like progression (for items). i really enjoyed the 1st game, and i felt like this game was pretty much more of the same so i rlly liked it too. i have juste three issues that weren't in the 1st here: - the area are too big / not compact enough : a lot of the regions feels like they could have been 33% smaller and it would've simply been better and we wouldn't have lost anything (the hub mall area is the worst for this) - Some of the areas felt less unique or creative when comapred to the 1st game : there is 2 mall, despite one being the old one and the second the newer one, i felt like this one lacked a more out there elvel like the underwater level from the 1st game was. - Finally i prefered how the levels we're seperated in the 1st game : in the 1st game, the levels felt the progression system where you'd unlock them after some likes and then get the item relating to it that would allow you to explore further everywhere. here, some region are unlocked in a similar way (for exemple, the mine) but alot of the times it is less clearly stated on where you need to go in order to progress (tho, considering the size of the map, it ain't actually that big of a deal) Still, it is an 8/10, there are still bugs, but seeing how the devs are actively doing daily updates gradually fixing them, i feel like it is disingenuine to consider them in this review knowing they most likely won't stay. i'd recommend this game if you want a chill unique game with an interesting world and fun progression system.
While I did have (some) fun playing this game, the bad really outweighed the good for me. The aesthetics of a lot of the environments, and the exploration and secrets were pretty good. But the decision to add these characters/subjects to the game, together with the many bugs and softlocks I enctountered completely ruined it for me. In the end it just did not capture what made the first game so special.
Its very fitting for the followup to Broken Reality to not live up to the first iteration. The movement is painfully slow, the level design is sprawling but uninteresting, and the vibe comes off as the shift from forum culture to socmed flattening everything out into the same empty feeling. I'd rather just replay the original again.
I really want to like this game, but it keeps randomly freezing on dialogue boxes. The first time it happened, I the game was freezing on a questgiver's dialogue, and I had to reinstall to fix it. I'll probably return to this after an update or bug patch, and give it a positive review... Right now, I'm not fond of the fact that I keep losing gametime to reloading saves.
Could use better signposting or at least an in-game hint system. Otherwise, a really enjoyable game that's far more expansive than I expected.
I had an absolute blast playing this game! I feel like both the first game and this one hit different parts of the nostalgia spectrum, the gameplay loop is different between each one for sure but I think if you loved the first game you're gonna have a great time with this one too! They absolutely nailed the early 2000s vibe with this one, and if anything playing this game made me realize just how much nostalgia I really carry for the 2000s. I can't recommend this game enough, try it out and see!
Old enough to know what Playstation Home was? Then yeah you'll get a kick out of this. It's a bit of a puzzle-y explore-y secret hunt-y type game - not the hardest or most complex, certainly not the longest, but it kept me engaged long enough to 100% it and it was a good time. I played the original back when it first released, and then heard that they were making this one... the day before it came out, so I fired up the original again to do another playthrough since I'd forgotten pretty much everything. With the first one fresh in my memory I can say that if you enjoyed Broken Reality then you will almost certainly enjoy Broken Reality 2000. Alright was THIS the right one??
