I love weird, experimental indie games, and Bread & Butter immediately caught my eye with its absurd concept. A slice of bread and a butter buddy fighting off evil vegetables? It’s hilarious and original. It’s not every day you get to blast broccoli, and that alone made me smile. I played for about an hour, and here’s the honest truth: this game is bursting with potential, but it’s totally unpolished and borderline frustrating in its current state but still fun to play. What I did enjoy is the responsive movement and quick-to-learn controls. Some weapon and upgrade combinations are genuinely fun, and when you find a good build, it’s satisfying to mow down waves of veggies. This game could be polished and improved by simply adding a proper auto-aim. On the current state of the game, you need to hold right-click or left-click (I forgot) just to make your character shoot in the direction of your mouse. It’s not intuitive and becomes painful during longer runs. Just make it auto-follow the cursor. Also, there are no dash or mobility mechanics. This is a major issue. Once you get surrounded in higher waves, you’re done. There’s no outplay potential. A simple dash or blink would fix so much of the late-game frustration. Enemy density quickly becomes overwhelming. Later waves turn into unavoidable veggie walls. Because you can't dodge, then you can’t escape. Its just feel unfair for me. For the UI the art is having a unique ideas but I just kinda confused on the current state. Gold UI is unclear. Is that my gold total? The reroll cost? Both?. Also there is no level indicator while we are in combat, no current character level count, no sound, no "ding" that indicate you are level up, just nothing. Overall, For the current state Bread & Butter is a charming mess. I genuinely want this project to succeed, and I admire the creativity and effort behind it. But right now, it’s missing some of the most basic mechanics that make action roguelites fun like auto-aim and dodging. With more polish and some thoughtful updates, this game could become something really special. I’d recommend wishlisting it for now and checking back after a few major updates.
Hi dev! Bread & Butter remind me of brotato. While it’s not exactly the same, the premise is kinda similar. With 6 equipped weapon max and multiple accessories that you can get and use to create a way and make sure you stay alive until the next wave. The fact that there is a companion for each bread feels pretty unique especially since you can try to make multiple combinations of weapons to survive and stay alive. The garden blower is my favorite weapon. Gameplay wise, I feel like there is a need for some kind of roll or phase or anything like that might help players stay alive. As of now, the game feels like if you don’t know what you want and just play the game for the sake of playing it, you won’t stay alive for long. Especially since the enemies snowball is kinda too much and not making any sense. Spawning on top of the player shouldn’t be possible. Personally, it would be better to have the option to choose which kind of control you want to use at the start of the game right after logging in.. Either it’s mouse controlled aim or auto aim like now. Especially since there are some players that like mouse control better than auto aim. Personally, I like auto aim coz i was the min-maxing kind of player. There are some things I notice while playing. - In settings, clicking on display mode/resolution then clicking any other thing will make the box grow bigger even if the mouse is nowhere near the button. - If we're back from play, setting or unlocking, the text in the button that we press before will get bigger. - Gold UI in game isn't easily visible. Making any purchase seems random. Making it not in the space board as reroll would help. Love how the game turned out to be. The money spent was worth it imo but I think the game would need some more patch that would make the game more enjoyable to grind rather than making it difficult to grind. Ciao dev, see you next patch!
Fun, fast, and chaotic in the best way. The bread and butter combo system is super creative, and every run feels different with the crazy upgrades. Dodging evil veggies while everything explodes around you never gets old. Great pick up and play action.
Haven't had this much fun slicing bread since EVER basically, The game itself is super fun the upgrades are unique and i LOVE the BGM. It goes so well with the game itself. Highly recommended 10/10 B R E A D
Bread & Butter is a great bullet heaven game that blends Brotato-style gameplay with a humorous food theme. The weapons and characters are varied, with each wave offering a different experience. The visuals are funny and sweet, which adds to the enjoyment of the game. The global leaderboard and award-winning competition system added extra excitement, it's nice to be in the top 50 :D.I definitely recommend it to those who love this kind of games
Fast and fun game with a lot of charm. Controlling bread and butter together feels smooth, and fighting off angry veggies never got boring. Simple but really well made, Recommended ❤️💯
This game is actually so fun, I didn’t think being a slice of bread could be this cool The levels get crazier every time and the weapons you unlock are just wild. Me and my butter bro destroyed like 750 evil veggies and I’m still not bored lol.
Bread & Butter is a lighthearted bullet heaven game, similar to Brotato, but with its own unique charm. The graphics are funny and intentionally silly, which gives the game a playful vibe that makes each run entertaining. Whether you're blasting through enemies or tossing a croissant like a boomerang, the gameplay feels smooth and satisfying. What makes it stand out is the global leaderboard. And there’s even real motivation to climb it, if you manage to hold the number one spot until May 29, you can win $100. That adds an extra layer of excitement and competition to the game. Overall, Bread & Butter is a well made, fun little game that’s perfect for short breaks or long play sessions. It's challenging, rewarding, and doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes it a great pick for fans of the genre.
I really enjoyed the game, I still have not seen all the different things it has to offer, there are so many types of weapons and different combinations that can be made according to your play style. A proper blend of fun and difficulty. Definitely a must buy game!!
