BrawlQuest is a game about hitting stuff, mining stuff, crafting stuff, building stuff and generally vibing. It's designed around simplicity, and doesn't bother with intrusive micro transactions or subscription models.

Still pretty rough; among the small things like trees bleeding when you hit them and destroying my healing pears because the controls were being wonky, there are larger issues that still have to be worked on. Namely, the loading times of each area. I had 60 FPS and everything seemed to be working well, but the game loaded areas so slowly that I was being murdered by invisible spiders and dogs. The game knew they were there, but I didn't, which got me into a few hairy situations early on when I actually walked through an entire area at level 3 with full health and only when I got to the dead end did the very strong enemies all appear and begin to attack me. Needless to say, I died and became a ghost for a time. I'm not sure if it's on purpose or not, but the enemies continue to hurt you even when you get very far away from them. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a bleed mechanic, but it stopped when I went back into the tutorial town so that's what I kept doing when I'd get overrun with spiders and dogs and bandits. Along with the loading issue comes the issue where you can't even hit the enemies about 50% of the time. I came across a problem where a lot of times, it would mark the wrong enemy and aggro new enemies while I was busy with the first one. Overall, it's a cute little game, and I'd like to come back to it again and give it another shot, but those glaring issues gotta be fixed first because they make it very frustrating and difficult to play. The thing is, I was the only person playing, so what would happen if I tried to bring a few of my friends in or something? It just doesn't seem like some things are ready, and that's okay, the devs said that it's a work-in-progress, so I look forward to seeing what happens with it. As is, I wouldn't recommend it, but it have potential so I'd like to be able to change this review in the future.
The game seems buggy for me and I keep dying in unexplained ways. It starts when I venture out into the combat area to the west. I start bleeding randomly even though I see nothing attacking me or no mobs around. Sometimes mobs will kind of appear and then disappear so I don't know if there is some kind of server sync issue? But I played this game both recently and a few months ago and had the same problem. So for me it's unplayable...
"Updated every few days" - The lie detector test determined that's a lie I explored the map for like 5 minutes. Then randomly started dying. Literally being killed by nothing. Come to find out that the lag everyone talks about is that it doesn't load any monsters or world in for you. Just the map. This game is quite literally, unplayable. Not worth a download. I flagged it to Steam as such and everyone else should too.
This game stuck in place. It's hosted literally on the potatoes - 5 players is enough to skyrocket the ping to unplayable levels. In 2022. Yeah. It has a lot of potential but the dev pretty much abandoned the project. I tested the game early, then played some time in June. Since June, nothing changed. Dev just fixed the boats that were working fine in the beta, then he broke them in 1.0 release. Most of the stuff is still broken anyway so just don't waste your time and skip this project. Maybe next year. And btw. Don't take my in-game time as any determinant. Most of that time was just talking with people in the "world chat" while waiting for the game to become playable again.
Let's do a more proper review instead of the placeholder one I didn't intend to submit! I love MMORPGs, especially classic, indie developed ones. I love checking out solo developed MMORPGs, although most end up being understandably lacking. BrawlQuest appears to be a solo developed MMORPG that falls into this latter category. The lack of sufficient resources hinders the progress of this game. Graphics & Sound: This game has a consistent art style, but it's very much a low resolution pixel art style. The text is readable at least and the music is fitting for the game. The sound effects aren't terrible either. [50%] Gameplay / Controls: This game has a fair number of systems. The combat is unique in that it requires using the arrow for attacking, providing a degree of precision not often common in tab-target MMORPGs. It might lead to confusion for older folk, but really.. who still uses the arrow keys for movement anyway? The game is surprisingly fun and full of content. [75%] Other: This server, the netcode, or whatever is responsible for the desyncing issues ruins this experience. It's not uncommon to kill objects that aren't even seen, get harmed by creatures a screen away, etc. This is due in part due to there not being a North American server (I'm from US) but it also seems to have some sort of underlying issue. It makes the more difficult content seem unfair. [50%] The highest player count I saw during my playthrough was 2. I was one of those 2. That's woefully insufficient for an MMORPG. FINAL SCORE: 64% [D] - Not recommended but has potential. If lag / desync issues are fixed and player count increases, I'd recommend this game.
?????????
its alr game just the ping is worse then the fortnite community and the achievements dont work
puxking server. I can't do somthing. if you wanna attack something, you can 1 min later.
There's no neutral option so you get the thumbs down. Thems the breaks, chief. *It has crunchy-ass pixel art. Some people don't like that sort of thing. Those people are probably 12 and play fortnite so their opinion is wrong by default. *It costs $0. *Game has a population of 0. *The UI is confusing and I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to craft something because the button to craft things doesn't say craft, it's just a big crusty png in the middle of the UI that doesn't look remotely like a button you can interact with. Cool. *It does, in fact, lag like ♥♥♥♥ at times despite being the only person online. And the netcode doesn't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about your bad connection so it's impossible to do anything while you're lagging like ♥♥♥♥. It's charming when its not lagging, you can wander around and vibe and ♥♥♥♥, there's stuff to see, stuff to kill, whatever. Only problem is that it currently feels like an alpha-state project someone slapped together in a month in their free time because they were bored. I think it could be a cool-ass game if it had more polish, but at the moment it's...well, not. I'm not going to hold the lack of player population against it, but not even the old men like me that like crusty-ass 2d mmos from the 90s would want to play this for long in its current state.
