Simple and funny. Worked on the steam deck no issues and the achievements are easy to get
If I had to say anything about this game, it would be that it was a game. A good game
I didn't have any expectations for boyfriend or cake?? but, oh boy, did I have fun. This game was absolutely hilarious (though some people would surely complain that the humor is sh*t). You can get all achievements during one playthrough, which'll take you around 30 minutes or less. Play this game and have fun!!! (Further review might contain spoilers.) (TW: angst, the game contains mentions of suicide, Colleen Hoover, death, some serious topics, Taylor Swift and probably more.) Let’s talk about the characters, since… There’s nothing more to talk about at all. The first contestant introduced to the player is Ryan. In my opinion, he's the most complex character in this game (wow). A really talkative and charming guy, if you ask me. I could write more about him but the review would become wayyy too long, so… Let’s just continue. Next is Daryl. I genuinely couldn’t stop laughing and giggling at him and his feminist literature (he’s 6’5 btw). A beautiful portrayal of a “performative male”, exactly how I imagine them to be in real life. An ideal human being reading feminist literature whenever he’s stressed (he’s 6’5 btw). Very entertaining. AD BREAK!!! The ad break was funny in the game. Play it. The third guy introduced to the player is Jake. A truly tragic character, one of my favourites though. Considering how the previous jokes sounded like, the moment your eyes lay upon a “your mom” joke (it’s not exactly a “your mom” joke… but you’ll know what I mean once you play the game), you can’t help yourself from giggling as your cursor hangs over that option. Then you’re hit with “she passed away a couple years ago”. Ow damn man. Then Jake proceeds to tell his sob-story and how terrible his parents were… Actually, they were wonderful people. A few dialogue options later, Jake tragically bleeds out during the show and passes away… Well, shame. I liked him. Caleb. Not much to say here. He’s listening to gangsta music like Kendrick, Tupac, Ado… His favorite anime is “My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute”. I didn’t really enjoy interacting with him, since the dialogue options were very limited (“Just Monika.” type sh*t, you see). Not a very memorable character for me, he was kinda funny though. Then there’s Makisig, my absolute favorite and beloved participant! He’s a pretty chill guy, rather funny. One complaint though, he wouldn’t get on his knees and bark. I demand a DLC where he does that and more. Anyway, one of my favorite dialogue options is asking him for his birthday. Please, check that out, I really loved how random it was. Makisig was really nice during the show and during the end scene. I’m his #1 fan, you don’t get it. And I’m very serious about this DLC. So, so, so! Please play boyfriend or cake??. You won’t regret it. I hope. I didn’t expect this review to be so long, it had no right to be this long, I mean come on, this game doesn’t even have this much content. But I really enjoyed it… Never laughed this much while playing a visual novel. I also forgot to mention that there's a plot twist at the end. Now you really gotta play this game to see what it is. Thank you for your attention, kisses!

please make a sequel where i actually get to date some of these people, gimme more options, also how dare you not let them answer if they like miku i need to know do they like miku??
It was super satisfaying to see all the precise existential questions that came up from the concept of living cake being voiced out my the cute and nice MC. But the answer given
by the guy at the end
turned out to be personal realisvist beliefs of the author. The pinepoints Nihilism as the negative pendant of Relativism, forever stuck. There is no real choice in this
we will be dating a nihilistic cake who will rant the intellectually impended superficial author's existential beliefs for about half the total time of the game, which is three minutes straight.

"No one's life has meaning. Philosophy is dumb, and you're dumb for engaging with it. Unless you like it. But nobody does. And anybody who says otherwise is posturing and performative."
How old is the autor? Six? What's clear anyway is that he or she never went past the phase where they thinkg all their life experiences and personal posturing and performative behavior was automatically unviversal. The SFX of the character talking was ok at the start because it was a light and fun atmosphere, but as soon as the agocentrical and "perfomative" "philosophy" talk starts to last, and the mood becomes serious, and even heavy, it get on your nerves fast. Somehow it is only when
a copy-pasted picture of Descartes appears out of nowhere tearing the fourth wall disturbing the artstyle
that I realized that I would never get the five minutes that I have totally wasted reading this punishment. I feel cheated out of five seconds of my life doing nothing that mattered and reading a perfomative story. Now my eyes are open. Sadly it's too late. At least, the meh cake guy at the end is not compeltely wrong on only one thing: this game's philosophy is the dumbest I've ever read. I would usually be in love with that kind of content. I loved the premises. But this starts out fun and cute, turns violent and bloody with black humor, then turns tragic and gripping, then serious and boring, then forced, and then the author litteraly rip it appart and shut it down. It should have be called "Trauma or trauma"? Or "Dead boyfriends or lies". My play time was about 5 min. The rest was me stalling to go AFK when the stupid rant became heavy.
Помойка захламляющая steam.

boyfriend or cake?? Game Review (Disclaimer - This is just my opinion and may be unpopular or disliked.) (General) 1. The game plays like a visual novel. 2. The story is that you are a person named Bianca that goes on a game show where you have to say if the contestants are "boyfriend" or "cake" in this case "being real" or "cake". (Positive) 1. It is short and can be played in one sitting. 2. The art style is done well and is very cute. 3. The concept is very simple, but is done well. 4. It is very funny and cute. 5. It has some dialogue near the end about life views that sorta break the tempo of the game a bit, but doesn't change anything. It only adds to the game. (Negative) 1. Because it is a visual novel and some people don't enjoy reading this game won't get too much exposure. 2. Some people might not like that it is a visual novel. 3. The game might not be funny, cute, etc to everyone and it is kinda dark at times with it's humor.
