Well, in spite of its' apparent simplicity, and of the dumbness that *exudes* from it, Boulette Hell is actually of reasonable to good quality, not a pure work of mockery: the devs, between the silly and absurd jokes, meant to offer some challenge, and challenge you get! What striked me straight away while starting the game was its' music, well made and which enhances the feeling that this little game has indeed been worked on (more or less) seriously, So there are several characters, with a "unique" story, that you control in the shape of a little dot, gameplay wise - in that aspect, the gameplay is very minimalist and classic, but after a quite simple tutorial boss, becomes harder at first real boss, then . . . it ends up getting gnarly, The dashing system, a *Matrix slowdown-like* type of dash (you read well, but . . . don't let your hopes get too high either ^^") is a bit unusual, but you quickly get used to it: you can either use the RB pad once and get teleported after a few moments where you aim, or double tap for a quicker move. The dash here is mandatory, between all the bullets (boulettes, sorry) you must avoid. Just two inquiries on my end: I felt that the controls were well responsive, but still, the dot's control by itself was a little heavy, might have wished for even more responsiveness - but maybe that's exactly the motion the devs intended to create, nothing too bothering anyway. Second complaint . . . the price point, that I found clearly too high for what it is, even if the game is relatively fun. All in all, if you like bullet hell games, silly to very stupid jokes, characters not knowing why they are there, and mostly if you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb (I reassure you, in the context, it's the finest of compliments)), this game might well be for you! Not the game of the aeon lol, but still a valid work - in my case, the utter stupidity and inanity of the jokes made it an instabuy : D
Hello Mr. Delvallet (and others)! I loved Eburnean, it remains one of my favorite bullet hells of all time. I even beat it on haaaaaaaaaaard mode (remember that)! Sorry it took me so long to play this game, almost a year anniversary :P This game is also awesome and I'm happy with my purchase of it! Thank you for making it. I'll be breaking my review up into positives, criticism, and bug fixes. Positives: - More Eburnean If you are on the fence about this game, play Eburnean and see if you like it. It's more of the same with slightly refined characters and in my opinion more engaging bosses. The bosses patterns and designs are fun and engaging to fight! All of the super's are much cooler than the first game (minus bolt :P) - Stage Select This makes sense from ever point of view. Since you get refilled after every boss, what is the point of beating every one sequentially again if you die on the last one? Good addition, though a hardcore mode wouldn't hurt ;) -Refined Characters Crimson, Gold, and Bolt were terrible IMO in the first game and very difficult to play with. You seem to have felt similar as their main gameplay loop is FAR better in this game. Props for fixing them in a way that makes them unique but even more fun! They all feel balanced (for the most part) and they are DEFINITELY all fun. -Mantis (0v0) Mantis \('v')/ Criticism: -Color One of the biggest things I loved about Eburnean was the STRIKING use of color. Every single boss was a beautiful impressionist art piece in motion. Tying the gameplay to it splatoon style with the slow motion meter was a bit difficult at times but drew even more attention to the awesome particle effects and color used in every boss! To see this aspect fall to the way side for the most part (besides my friend pulsar and his awesome fractal spaces) in favor of more detailed art and muted colors, is very regrettable. What would Monet think! -Music From what I understand Eburnean's music was just stock music from other people. I'm sorry to say but I think it left more impact on me that the music of Boulette Hell. "The dude"'s two songs, and the celestial asteroid were memorable and very good! When I saw the sizzling sun return I anticipated his intimidating triumphant music to accompany him! -Heliotrope My favorite silent protagonist from the first game is now a LOSER superhero wannabe. In all seriousness though the decisions to make him lose almost all his accuracy while dashing is strange to me. There are several attacks which force you to use dash and lose your whole accuracy. I thought that his abysmal dash range would make it balanced, but he's very hard to play with in his current state. (This is definitely a very personal nitpick since I loved him in Eburnean) BUGS!!!!!! There are however some very glaring exploits and bugs that made me quite sad :(. The largest of which is -Gold Exploit Gold is broken. Despite being my favorite globe trotting billionaire adventurer, he shouldn't be an instant win. Using the pause menu and hitting esc multiple times you can cause Gold's projectiles (even his super) to detonate early! This exploit allowed me to beat the game with Gold my second try with relative ease. I think it could just be solved by disabling the esc button when the pause screen is open? -Final Boss unavoidable death The final boss's "ring" attack can sometimes spawn one of the "ring" bullets as one of the randomly transformed "chaser" bullets that you have to avoid, however because of the speed and homing properties of the "ring" attack it instantly hit's the player every time. This has caused some sad (and unavoidable) game overs from your's truly. -Sizzling Sun Minion bug? The Sizzling Sun minions explode into a ring of bullets ONLY if the player is playing as Eburnean, this makes the boss a tiny bit easier for other characters and definitely seems unintended. Thank you again for making a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time! I hope you read this and I hope I have helped others make a decision on this game! Bye!
Get ready for a heart-pumping, adrenaline-fueled adventure with this bullet hell genre game! From the moment you start playing, you'll be faced with a barrage of bullets and intense boss battles that will test your skills and reflexes to the limit. But don't let that discourage you, the challenge is what makes this game a must-have for any gamer. One of the things that sets this game apart from other bullet hell genre games is the variety of characters you can play, each character's abilities are particularly effective (or not) against certain bosses, making the game even more challenging and rewarding. You'll need to experiment with different strategies to figure out the best approach for each boss. You'll also find yourself chuckling at the conversation between you and the bosses. Of course, the humor doesn't detract from the difficulty of the game. The bosses are still tough as nails, and you'll need to be on top of your game if you want to beat them. But the satisfaction you'll get from finally defeating a boss that had seemed unbeatable is unmatched. Overall, this game is a must-have for anyone who loves a good challenge. So gear up, sharpen your reflexes, and get ready to enter the Boulette Hell!
Well, if you like boss battles, this game is for you. It's just pure chaos in every boss battle. And each boss is very unique. Definitely give it a shot.
