BOT.vinnik Chess: Combination Lessons

Good puzzles, terrible teacher. Doesn't give any hint about why other moves are bad and is just linear.

+ Several chess puzzles. - Almost no explanations. - Graphics, that tortures your eyes. - Toxic prick, that doesn't help at all and whom you can't disable, instead of usefull mentor. Is that supposed to be funny?

BOT.vinnik knows me so well! I do indeed need to get a basic chess rules manual, and I am indeed an awful student. However, apparently I remind them of that little kid Karpov so I must be guessing something right. I don't know chess, I want to know chess, and this game throws me directly into the thing that appeals to me in chess, the strategic thinking - which is incredibly difficult for me - and thinking a few steps ahead. Now I have to say that sometimes I don't understand why some steps would be the best, since alternative steps would create the same result (I think) faster, but nevertheless I completely take responsibility for having no skills in the game and I probably don't see WHY those steps are best. Then again, if I were right, it doesn't mean that I don't learn anything from this, I learn a lot and I find it very relaxing and entertaining to break my brain over it and sometimes be reminded that I can take the opponent's pieces because I simply forgot. The game has some pre-made puzzles that put you into a situation and you are challenged to solve it by executing a certain chess-player's strategy, whether it's forking or pinning or whatnot. There's a decent number of strategies and each strategy has a couple of puzzles, the honest and somewhat (de)motivating feedback of BOT.vinnik is very appropriate and it gives a nice touch to the game. I definitely recommend it whether on sale or not and I'm excited to try the rest of the games in this series!

Нравится вся серия, в этой игре появился русский язык, что облегчило восприятие терминов. Вот только раздражает 2-битная музыка, одинаковая для всех игр Ботвинника.

Judging by the look, I had hoped for more in-depth explanations, but the content turned out to be basic and simple, maybe good for beginners. For the price tag, connot expect more. but still good value for money

A couple bugs, like achievement title not matching the section, and nothing at the end of the last level displayed after the final puzzle was complete, but overall this game contained solid chess puzzles to learn from and provided wit with the bot. I could only hope for more dialogue and interaction with BOT.vinnik in future titles.

Muito bom! Estou adorando a experiência, o instrutor é engraçadinho e suas piadas sarcásticas deixam o aprendizado mais leve. Curti o visual retrô, e mesmo sendo novata no xadrez, tô gostando muito (santo botão hint). Acho só que se eu entendesse mais de xadrez, aproveitaria ainda mais as piadas do jogo. Mas de qualquer forma, é diversão na certa!
