Bot Gaiden is a good and very challenging Metroidvania with obstacles that you will have to redo just as often as with games of this genre on the NES or SNES and the looks of PS1 (with a sharper finish, though). Watch a short gameplay of Bot Gaiden here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJzP8VOZm1Y This game can best be compared to Mega Man, mainly because of the high activity throughout the levels of all enemies and moving projectiles that you will have to dodge and tackle, throughout the game you will also be able to do this better through permanent upgrades such as infinite dash, extra levels, drill attack, triple jump and a lot more. Another very nice addition to the game is the possibility to play together with a friend in Co-op mode, and this is also possible via remote play together on steam:
2D platformer + co-op + comic book art style = Fast-paced Mega Man mashed with Ninja Gaiden. Slash, jump, dash, dive, climb and more. 4 difficulty levels to pick from with huge bot bosses to destroy. The game industry is saved. With triple A titles being "live services" or nft ponzi schemes, history will remember Bot Gaiden was the moment it all turned around. Retro style with original mechanics that create an easy to pickup but difficult to master title that keeps me coming back. Having the boss get stronger the longer you take to reach him is genius. The secret feature that really puts this game over the top is the inclusion of a relic from days past, COUCH COOP!! I'll repeat that again, this game has COUCH COOP on a pc no less. Find me another title in 2022 with this feature and I will eat a cat. Not since Battle Toads have I head such rocking intro music. Worth the cost of admission. 10/10
I absolutely love this game. I grew up playing NES/SNES side scrolling platform games and a few of my all time favorites were Mega Man II and the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. This game is a tribute to these classic games, with a unique time trial element. Jumping into the game, I instantly got caught up in the need for speed element and really enjoyed the action packed side scrolling mayhem. The art work is really awesome, and the sound track rocks. And I would be remiss if I didn't call out the Ninja Gaiden style cut scenes. Definitely worth the buy!
If you're looking for a NES Ninja Gaiden meets Megaman speed running platformer then here it is. The concept of going through the levels as quick as you can so that the boss can have lower health and to unlock permanent skills give it a roguelike type of vibe. I had fun playing it so far and would recommend it to folks if they're looking for an old school challenge.
Bot Gaiden comes at a time where there's a drought in the genre and it certainly delivers!! The art direction and music is unique yet plays towards the nostalgia of classics. Platforming veterans and players new to the genre will fall in love with this title!!!!!
Very addicting and amazing fast paced gameplay
I liked this game. Sucks it didn't get a lot of reviews or attention. It has all the elements of a good platformer.
Wonderfully difficult platform-action game. I was given this game for Christmas and I just finished a stream of it earlier this evening. Wonderful graphics, great soundtrack, full of some wonderful guitar work. The game play and controls are very well done. So, imagine if Ninja Gaiden and Megaman had an affair and you'll get Bot Gaiden. The faster you complete a level, the higher the reward. The game was designed for the discipline of speed running. It's about knowing the beats, it has a certain rhythm and if you're looking for a challenge, I'm sure you'll enjoy this
