Controls are too sluggish for the speed of the game. Can't recommend as this is mostly just rage inducing.
A 2014 game that can be beat in about 8h, honestly it is quite addictive. The gameplay loop is simple and great, I would recommend to use a controller tho.
I've been playing Boson X since 2014, back when it was only available on mobile. It was one of my very first purchases on Google Play. I was in high school at the time, right at the height of the Flappy Bird craze. Difficult games were all the rage back then, and I believe I had searched for 'hardest Android games' to download when I stumbled upon this indie masterpiece. I remember it like it was yesterday: the look on my classmates' faces, completely impressed that I could clear the first level without dying a single time. When I went off to college and made new friends, this game was there too, entertaining the crew during breaks or whenever a professor cancelled class. It's incredible to think how a simple yet creative game, made with such dedication, can spark so many positive experiences in so many people's lives once released to the world. I wonder if creators Ian MacLarty and Jon Kerney have any idea how important this game must have been in the lives of players like me—sticking with me for so many years and continuing to challenge and hook me just like it did the first time. Before Dark Souls became a trend with its demanding yet extremely satisfying mechanics, Boson X was the first to trigger that effect in me. There are no words to describe the satisfaction and the dopamine rush of beating the final level and finally 'discovering the Boson X'. The smooth, even gentle graphics, the endless replayability, the divine soundtrack, and the grueling difficulty make this game an experience that truly stays with you for life. The memories of spending afternoons on the couch retrying the same level 50, 100, 200, 300 times, until I memorized every pattern and finally overcame the challenge the game threw at me... I’ve cherished these memories for over a decade, and I hope to carry them with me for a long time to come. Games like this are what we live for.
