Boreal Tenebrae Act I: “I Stand Before You, A Form Undone”

This game is outstanding. One of the most special games I’ve ever played. A unique art style and intriguing story make this game well worth it. The structure of the many small stories inside the larger tale works great given the atmosphere of the game, each location feels fresh and gorgeous in its own way. My personal favorite is the Grain Elevator, the way the light comes combined with the retro look of the stairs and silos is perfect. I eagerly await the finished conclusion to the game.

I really like the art style, eventhough it ends a little bit abruptly, hoping this gets a proper ending and this game gets some recognition.

Amazing game! It's so bizarre in its narration, but also game design. The way you explore all those areas like a big narrative maze is so new and mind bending, but still accessible (thanks Dad!). Anyways, it's great! Reminded me of Kentucky Route Zero, both for the global weird ambiance and themes of the story (the post-industrial america). Good to see some political statement in a game!

This is such an unusual little gem. I haven't played anything else quite like it. The whole vibe just speaks to me! It feels like a stripped-down take on an early survival horror game, especially in terms of the style of puzzles and the pacing, but there's no real combat. Structurally; you control multiple characters in different scenes. They aren't in a party and they aren't communicating with each other but because of a strange connection between them they have a shared inventory and you kind of juggle between their scenes making progress in one then another. The setting is a really unusual kind of realist fantasy world that you don't see often, and it manages this really fine balance between a heightened, cartoon reality and a grounded specificity. The character designs and colour work are great! So is the soundtrack. Its a bit rough around the edges in places and it currently ends VERY abruptly [spoiler](mid-scene smash cut to a TO BE CONTINUED) title card and then it force closes)[/spoiler] but for the price especially its very worth playing!

Despite being for the most nish* of players, this game is a highly intriguing experience. It's like a game version of a lost cartoon on the internet that you desperately want to watch. It caught my attention after an add on Instagram which made me go "wth is this, I wanna play this!" Some might consider the gameplay and the game systems amateurish or not polish enough but I will argue that it is highly intentional to enhance the game's narrative and themes. The art direction is beautiful and really made me want to explore this world beyond the limitations of its developers. There are traces online that might suggest this game might part of a multimedia experience which is fitting since the game is very surreal. It is well-price for a game of this nature. I hope the game finds success with its accessibility among the most curious and patient.

Although its a bit janky and rough around the edges, its a beautiful game with a lot of love and soul.

Perfectly nails the dream atmosphere, great surreal exploration game. For $3 it's a must-play in the genre.
