It's a new type of horror game, on top of the gameplay, you're in constant fear of the many gamebreaking bugs you'll encounter.
Really cool game, great vibes. Got a bit overwhelmed by the non-linearity though. I'll come back to it some day.
Unfortunately the developer decided to publish a second different game instead of delivering the ending for this one, Shame, as the game is gorgeous, surreal, creepy and very original.
i am but yet another to encounter a game breaking glitch - there weren't enough save slots for me to have proper backups, on top of having to reload earlier a few times when things got glitchy, so just be aware of the risks when you spend the money!!! it's supposedly quite compelling and there's lots of love in it, so i might go back later? but how frustrating!
The game is fantastic and feeling with Yume Nikki is really good The surrealism from the graphics sometimes just got a little off guard The retro style with PS1 are pretty nostalgic It's an awesome game I'm
A rather weird, but interesting game.
Nice atmospheric adventure game with Grim Fandango style gameplay. Music and sound effects are at just the right level of unsettling.
a little buggy still but full of personality and atmosphere, story is good.
There is something about this game that is really cool and unique and I like that. I would like to see more since it ends on a cliffhanger. I liked the art style and world that the game is based in. It’s unique visually with animals and humans living together. It’s kinda creepy in some parts too and I like that spooky stuff. Visuals kinda reminds me of 2000’s tv shows that would be on during that time. The story has a lot going on in it to be honest and a lot that we still need to know about. I think the story and the movies really make the game. I liked the music a lot. One song in particular hurts my ears and I dreaded being in that area. I liked the taking pictures system even though I didn’t know what I was doing at the time until I figured it out. What I didn’t like is the player camera when moving to different screen. I get the ps1 resident evil like thing going on but come on! It’s trash. In 2d it’s find cause you’re limited visually but in this day in age for a 3d game, it’s really no excuse to make your game like that. Like seriously, constantly you’ll be going to another screen to only go back into the other. It’s so bad. It wastes time because there’s a slight load when transferring levels/areas/screens. What makes it even worse is the fact that there are things on the ground that stop you from moving. It’s like whyyyyyyyy did you put this here??? It only makes it harder to traverse through the game and it’s positioned so the player can’t actually see how to go around it. Just stop with the ps1 camera bs, please. You can literally fall off the map. The game is kinda broken. Like, you can go through areas that you’re not supposed to go to. I was scared at times when playing the game because of that. It hurts the player to explore. I had to always save when changing levels because of it. I did not know when I would fall off the map or go too far when exploring the levels. It sucks. The saving system looks weird too. It shows pictures but they overlap each other. There’s 3 pictures but the first one has the words autosave onto of it. It looks dumb and I don’t know if I have 2 or 3 saves so I only saved using 2 slots. Also, the saved slots doing have a time or date or any way to know which one was your most recent save. I had to just pick one of the 3 which is when I made the decision to just use 2 saves. The saving system works but I don’t really like it because I’m constantly saving and my saved pictures look the same. Hard to remember which one I played last. I guess it works and that’s what matters. At a certain transition to a level the screen will go black with sounds in the background. There’s nothing you can do to get out of it other than pressing escape. It’s weird and I don’t like it. This game is really just a treasure hunter game. You need to find or do specific things to continue the game. Like there will parts where you can’t go but once you talk to someone or do something, it’ll magically open up to you. It’s kinda bs sometimes lol though I liked solving it and making progress in the game. Did I mention that I got stuck in the taking pictures mode at the main characters house? If I didn't save often I would have been very mad lol. The animation when walking looks weird. It’s like it squishes into the person. Like maybe that’s their style but it looks dumb to me lol. I didn’t like the whole pixelated cutscenes look. A lot of cutscenes had that and it’s just a filter. During on cutscene, when it was staring, for a couple of seconds it didn’t have the pixelated filter on. I dunno man, I don’t like the fake pixelated look when the game is sharp and clear. I also didn’t like the whole vas screen tearing stuff and things. I guess for the static it makes sense but it’s really too much. Thankfully you can skip cutscenes when going to different levels cause it does get repetitive. Some grammatical errors. At first when I was playing this, I was really angry and frustrated but the game is really unique. It’s a one of a kind game. There is honestly a lot of work put into the game. Like there are cutscenes, and some voice actors and stuff. They all sound great. For the price, this is a steal and I’m glad I went in blind and tried it out. If it wasn’t for the price of the game I guess I would have had a worse opinion on the game but it’s so low for what you get that it’s really worth it.
Amazing game! It's so bizarre in its narration, but also game design. The way you explore all those areas like a big narrative maze is so new and mind bending, but still accessible (thanks Dad!). Anyways, it's great! Reminded me of Kentucky Route Zero, both for the global weird ambiance and themes of the story (the post-industrial america). Good to see some political statement in a game!
