Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced

Yeah its good

Over 15 years later and Borderlands still stands as one of the best games in its franchise, and an excellent shooter experience. I feel like many people may have skipped over this one due to its predecessor being much more widely beloved, but I assure you this still stands as one of the more unique games in the series. Something that Gearbox just got right with BL1 that they never seemed to be able to recreate was the atmosphere. The world design, the music, the vibe, everything here is so much more fleshed out in these regards. It feels lonely, desolate, dilapidated, it captures the essence of what Pandora is made out to be, a wasteland. The characters aren't larger than life in the same way they are in the newer titles, it gives you space to breathe and to soak in the world. I always end up coming back to it for that reason. The story isn't as front and center and is much more basic, the gunplay is simple but feels good. I think that while the series improved on many fronts over the years in some ways it lost some of the best elements of the original. If you feel jaded by the newer titles in the series, come back and give this one a try.
