Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Sep 12 → 4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i would have said yes before the 1.0 update but after it i say its a no but with a wait and see. It all depends if they fix the issues they made when 1.0 came out and if they just abandon it like most sim game devs do after full release. they made some really weird and bad game design choices like at night which starts at 5pm for some reason for whole shop and game go blue make the game look horrible, the game feels more clunky now, you use to be able to take two partial boxes of stuff to make a full one from box to box now you can't why no one knows except for the devs, the restocking ai needs work the game freezes when it saves
I don't mind this one, but I think I need to put the "no" out there in the wilds. First off: The game feels to have AI generated stuff. The book titles are clever, but the art seems very AI gen. I have no actual information on if it is, but think I should get the bias out there. Second: The menus are a straight mess. Text will roll over on itself, menus are, sometimes, unable to be exited (like the Special Books menu) and the lack of being able to sort things makes the menus cluttered, and pretty rough to navigate. The game may be in a "1.0" status, unlike other large games but that doesn't mean a lot. This 1.0 came after a version 0.13 update in mid-June and than a quick 1.0. The game was not and is not done. There is a lot of cute stuff here, with the cats and cafe, but the systems need work, additional touchings, better customer AI and interactions, and actual feedback on what's happening in the store. Right now this is just bare bones in terms of its systems, and enough to "just work."
I really wanted to like this game, the concept is really cool but this game was so boring. * Customers buy multiple of the same book and restocking is a constant battle * Your employees are so slow that you may as well do everything yourself * Purchasing boxes of used books is obnoxious, you open the box, it shows you every book and then closes the box and drops it back on the floor removing any rare books that need to go on a separate shelf *The decorations are basic and uninteresting, at least in early game * You make an outrageous amount of money from single sales so you never have to struggle to buy more books which seems odd in the early game I admittedly didn't get a great feel for the game as I ended up wanting to return it so I played it for under 2 hours to ensure I didn't go over Steam's return window. Hopefully they improve this game in the future.
Yes
I was so sick with motion sickness after playing this game for less than an hour. I can’t find any easy way to change settings to fix this. If you are sensitive to motion in games, DONT BUY
Normally, I avoid games that are just "X SImulator" as they're either "lol so broktden" Goat Simulator/Surgeon Simulator riders or shallow, soulless gamified jobs (usually churned out by Gamersky nowadays). But, for some reason, Bookshop Simulator spoke to me. I bought it in Early Access and thought, "This actually has some potential if they polish it up a bit." Unfortunately, that never happened, 1.0 has released and it's just ugly. NPCs are stiff proc-gens with so few permutations that you can end up with multiple clones in a single line, your "pets" still walk infinitely into building corners, staff can't handle partial stocks and fill storage with near-empty boxes, UI elements look and feel like placeholder assets, the "tutorial" is unimmersive, simple tasks that are far more rewarding than they should be, and the entire game feels like it should have taken another 6 months to a year of Early Access to become an actual game. Another reviewer had the right of it: Get Retro Rewind instead. Same gameplay loop with a LOT more polish, only with a "90's rental shop" coat of paint.
If you liked Supermarket Simulator but got tired of selling oil and flour, play this! It's addictive and so damn cute. And YES, there are cats. CATS and BOOKS. Can't say anything more.
