Many parts of this game are fun, and it's passable as long as you get this game on the cheap. The worst part of this game is that it's clear that the levels are horribly designed. The pathways are randomly generated, along with the powerups. So if you start a level and die, you'll restart it with a randomly generated map. That in and of itself is not the bad part of this game. It's that many of the maps generated are so hard that superhuman timing and luck would be needed to be able to clear it. Or you could get a generated map where you never had a chance in the first place.

I loved bomberman, playing this game on my Steam Link just wasn't fun enough. The gameplay was somewhat bland, and the controls didn't feel responsive enough. I do like the mechanism that allows a dead player to win in multiplayer or take revenge.

I really didn't like this Bomberman clone. The vocal queues are grating. It is hard to tell what your bombing range is. The music isn't very compelling - Midi version of The Nutcracker? Really? Overall, I think that Brawl is a much better game.

Being in the top 5% of players according to Steam's achievements, I feel qualified to say: The negative reception to this game is wholly unearned. IT controls fluidly, it looks good, the remixes of Nutcracker songs are appropriate for the twisted narrative. And, yeah, it's hard. So what? It's never unfair. Unlike regular Bomberman games, you have to actually trap your enemies here to ensure they die. I kinda miss when games were genuinely challenging like this.
