About

Weird West legends meet eldritch horror in BLOOD WEST, an immersive stealth FPS. Become the Undead Gunslinger, doomed to roam the barren lands until he finds the means to purge their curse and free his soul. No, this isn’t your typical Wild West desperado redemption arc. This is a damnation arc.
The Canyons, the Swamp, and the Mountains. Each swarming with abominable monsters and unholy demons, these are open-ended worlds for you to explore freely at your own pace. It will take the player over 20 hours on average to complete all three scenarios, and over 35 if they want to see everything the barren lands have to offer.
Blood West is a stealth FPS inspired by the genre classics such as the Thief series (whose fans will be happy to hear the voice of Stephen Russell, the actor voicing the master-thief Garrett, returning here as the protagonist), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, or - from the contemporary catalog - Hunt: Showdown. The gameplay rewards the careful approach: scouting the area, stalking your enemies, and striking from the shadows. Can you figure out a way to clear a fort full of ghouls and monsters without raising an alarm?
The Barren Lands present the player with a nightmarish, twisted vision of the Wild West legends. The curse that has befallen the realm has corrupted every living thing, defiled the land itself, while summoning restless spirits and dark entities. In this mixture of gunslinger pulp and Lovecraftian horror, dark occult magick presents just as much of a threat as sudden lead poisoning.
In Blood West you will meet many colorful, yet strangely twisted, fully-voiced NPCs. Just as much prisoners of the Barren Lands as you are, they will sometimes share their unusual stories and send you on various missions. Play nice and they might reward you or become your allies. Cross them and risk their wrath.
The game won’t hold your hand. You’ll have to explore the land for yourself (buying a map from a vendor might prove useful!), and figure out your own way to approach quests. As you poke around the three expansive maps, keep an eye out for hidden places and secret stashes. There’s gold in the mountains! Fair warning - it’s probably cursed.
If sneaking around isn’t exactly your thing, or you feel that you have a power advantage over your enemies, you can always take the head-on approach and meet your enemies guns blazing. Blood West comes from the creators of the fan-favorite boomer shooter POSTAL: Brain Damaged, so much gratuitous fantasy violence and pixelated blood splatter is to be expected!
One man’s hell might be another hoarder’s paradise! From simple one-use items like bandages, through medical tinctures, explosives and incendiaries, straight to arcane artifacts that - once slotted - can change the way you play the game, the Barren Lands are just filled with STUFF. There are tons of useful items to discover, and there’s a special player’s stash crate for all those super-rare potions that you’ll hoard and never use.
A gunslinger without a gun would be just a regular slinger. Where’s the fun in that? Blood West makes sure you’ll have plenty of weapons to choose from. Revolvers, rifles, shotguns, carabines - a great variety of firearms, from standard army-issue to those infused with powerful magic, or straight-up possessed. And if you prefer not to cause a ruckus, there’s a wide selection of hand-to-hand combat weapons and archery weapons to pick your favorites from.
The RPG-like perk-based progression system in Blood West will allow you to highly customize the gameplay experience to your liking. Become a stealthy hunter, a revolver-fanning gunman or a relentless berserker. You will gain experience and progress through the skill tree, while discovering new artifacts in each of the scenarios that will bestow on you additional abilities. Combining skills and load-out creates more possible playstyles than you’d normally be able to explore in one playthrough.
Base Game Only

Gameplay
☐ Very good ☑ Good ☐ Nothing special ☐ Okay ☐ Bad While I enjoyed the gameplay, it gets a bit repetitive in the 3rd Chapter. By that time, I had a firm grasp of my playstyle, and the enemies were more or less the same as the first 2 chapters. The stealth mechanics don't feel particularly rewarding, with noise and visual detection feeding into a single detection meter and gunshots being ignored if the enemy is around 20m away. Despite that, it is quite satisfying to blow chunks off enemies and pick your way through a location.
Graphics
☐ Masterpiece ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Will do ☐ Bad ☐ Awful It does the PS2-era graphics style with a little bit of modern polish very well. Granted, I often played below max settings, but they still set the one for a dark Western world.
Audio
☐ Amazing ☐ Very good ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Not too bad ☐ Bad All the sound effects are serviceable. Nothing wrong with them, though I would recommend turning down the frequency of player voice lines in the settings, as they can get a bit repetitive when you're looting.
Audience
☐ Kids ☐ Teens ☑ Adults ☐ Everyone
Story
☐ Lovely ☐ Good ☑ Average ☐ Not great ☐ None There's not much to the story. You're playing as an undead outlaw killing what other people tell you to kill, just the barest bits to set you on the path of exploring. There's a little bit of story in the form of scattered notes, but they aren't particularly interesting.
Difficulty
☐ Just press a bunch of buttons ☐ Easy ☑ Significant brain usage ☐ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Not so easy ☐ Difficult ☐ Dark Souls Note that I played on the Hardest, non-Iron Man Difficulty. When you get a weapon that can consistently one-tap headshots with the slow-time ability, stealth generally becomes comically easy, especially if you have a weapon that fires Long Ammo. However, at the beginning, your guns do very little, and some enemies are very difficult to headshot when they aggro. I would say that by the middle of the 2nd Chapter, you would have the weapons to one or two-tap almost anything unless they're one of the bigger enemies or if they have a mask that blocks a headshot.
Grind
☐ Nothing ☐ Only if you care about leaderboards/ranks ☑ Isnt necessary to progress ☐ A bit grindy sometimes ☐ Average grind level ☐ Too much grind ☐ Insanity Resources don't feel particularly limited, even on higher difficulties, so you could buy all the equipment and ammo you need. It's just a little bit of a grind to get the money for some shop items, but if you're looting every enemy and cleaning out locations, you should have no problem. Regardless, as long as you have a good set of artifacts and weapons, grinding isn't necessary to progress.
Game Time
☐ Short ☑ Average ☐ Long ☐ Depends on you ☐ Endless I played for over 20 hours because I wanted to explore every nook and collect every special weapon, but it could just as easily be completed in 10-15 hours if you just focused on the main objectives.
Price
☐ Just buy it ☐ Worth the price ☑ Wait for sale ☐ Maybe if you have some spare money left ☐ Not recommended

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

What a hidden gem.. I watched a friend play for about an hour before I was convinced to try it out myself, and man it's been so fun so far. I just finished chapter 1, and I can't wait to see what else the game has to offer.
Hard game. Cool kills. I want to murder more.

Genuinely amazing. Granted I'm biased as westerns and supernatural-horror are potentially my top two genres, but that just got me in the door, the games quality made me stay/replay. Review: The game design is great, the lore/ world building was way better than i expected. Even the side missions/characters blew me away and had me hooked. All the weapons/ items all have incredible thought to them. Even the upgrades you can get, whether they be skills or temporary boosts/blessings. Enemy designs are fantastic. A full completionist run of the canyons will probably take you ~4hours, but as of writing this i have 15 hours on the game, and am just starting the next area, due to replaying it and just exploring. I bought the game at 70% off, but honestly i would happily play full price. Genuinely one of my top games of all time, can easily see myself playing on all difficulties and getting all achievements. This is also my first/only ever review on steam, i just had to praise the game. Brief story time: TL;DR: At first struggled on normal, so then played on story. after which I'm currently beating normal, and plan to play on hard/ beyond(custom). I did almost quit in my first half hour. Played the game on normal as you do, but the difficulty was just too absurd for me. Died no joke about 20 times to the first (real) enemies (2nd weakest in the game, by the train), and never even made it TO the first mission. When I eventually ran out of ammo/money, I thought that was it. but then I remembered story mode. And that's where I fell in love with the game. Need to stress its not a no-difficulty setting and you still need to focus, but I maybe died 5 times the entire run through. But it is easier, you're stronger, enemies weaker, loot is everywhere (to the point I stopped picking it up because I had ammo/money to burn) but the after completing the canyons (what I would have been happy to be the full game, but am happy to learn its only half), I then restarted a normal playthrough. Seeing that playthrough as an extended tutorial. And now having learned the behaviours, mechanics and tricks of the game (but most importantly having experienced the story, so deaths weren't robbing me anymore) I loved it. And was able to defeat the canyons, and am now playing through the next area. And when I've finished this run, I'm even feeling confident enough to try the harder difficulty (though low hopes for how that goes for me)
