As a fan of the OG Black Ops 1 & 2 zombies who found BO3's iteration (and beyond) incredibly mid, I highly recommend Blood Reaver. It perfectly scratches that dormant craving without all the modern slop that currently weighs down the CoD franchise. The only major issue that I encountered during gameplay is a movement bug. I believe it was triggered by my abuse of the slide-jump mechanic. It locked my jump direction to my most recent slide, causing me to launch you backward directly into my train of demons. Regardless, I absolutely love what the team is cooking, and hope to see this bug fixed in a future update. TLDR: If you're an OG zombies fan, I would invest in Blood Reaver. While it is still in early access and there isn't a lot of content, I believe that the devs have the sauce.
The olympia didn't make it into the game, the gang in SHAMBLES, M14 stands proud!
Blood Reaver feels like a game with ambitious ideas but not enough resources to execute them properly. The graphics are poor, animations lack quality, enemy AI is questionable, and the difficulty balancing can be frustrating. Could it become a decent co-op game in the future? Maybe. But right now, it feels more like a low-budget Call of Duty Zombies clone than a polished standalone experience.
This game is absolutely perfect for me. I’ve been wanting to play a new game that has the same mechanics of WAW zombies for so long, it’s super exciting to have found this! Things I love: The design of the guns with the metal and wood Incorperated together and the filigree carved in to some of the metal is so perfect! My favorites are the trench gun and Galil, your designs for those two are so creative and also you know exactly what gun you are seeing. The pack a punch camo is so refreshing, I have been so burnt out on camos that move in impossible ways. The way you Incorperated that red stuff from around the map into the gun to give it more power is absolutely perfect! The gameplay is smoooth, it feels very consistent and I have had no glitches or anything that feels unfinished. Even knifing through windows is effortless instead of how it is in WAW I love that you can do the slide jumps from BO3, and I also love that you can’t do them an unlimited number of times. The map layout is very good, and the design of the location is absolutely sick. I love the vibe of it! The difficulty is crazy hard, I got the raygun packed and I still died on round 16. I’m trying to get my friends to buy it so we can make it farther than that. I love how it actually feels like an accomplishment to survive instead of how new COD zombies feels like survival is almost guaranteed and you only survive so that you can get more xp for the battle pass. The exploding demons were a surprise and are super cool because of how intimidating they are! The tank demons feel like they aren’t just a waste of ammo since you get points for shooting them. Speaking of ammo, you have just the right amount of it for each gun I have used. It never feels too scarce or too plentiful. I’m always thinking about how much I have left in a good way. I love that you have to put your gun in pack a punch and wait for it to come back out. They stopped doing that in COD and it ruined the whole feel of pack a punch. The location you put it in is crazy cool too because you can very easily die up there if you’re not careful with your timing! I love how simple it is! I think you guys are working on an Easter egg, my biggest request for that is, please do not have anyone talking at you through a walkie talkie the whole time, just have people naturally find clues and steps like the old ones! Also, objective markers are so silly, please leave the hud as simple as it already is, it’s perfect that way. Things I would change: I’d love it if jug could change from 4,000 to 2,500, it is so hard to get it. When I stand up from being downed with the galil, I have to extend the stock again and sometimes get killed because there are zombies right next to me and I can’t shoot. That’s all that I would change! I’d love to see a new map with different enemies, not saying I don’t like these ones, but it would be super cool to have map specific enemies! I hope you guys are adding in leveling up and unlocking skins on your guns! I’d love to get a gold skin on the galil that still has the wood on it and filigree engraved in it. Amazing work, this game is so fun!
Sunk just under a hour into this so far and this game has a lot of potential, This is a mixture of black ops zombies with its own demonic twist, there are a few performance issues but i would expect these to be solved at some point as this is early access. I hope in the future we get given a story and main quest for upcoming maps as this is what alot of players do like from other round based titles/modes Please give this game a go and i cant wait to see what more this game has in store
I understand this is supposed to be early access but damn. I didn't realize it was going to be a Zombies clone with demon theme instead. I was drawn in by the awesome Djent metal for both the videos but when I load into the game, I was disappointed to discover it was no where to be found. For the love of all things unholy, why weren't these songs put into the actual game? I found myself getting hit by demons when their back was turned which made no sense. The shooting was unsatisfying, like i was shooting a BB gun at paper targets. I felt like this game could have potential but in its current state, its no where close. 15 bucks isn't bad. I should've tried the demo first. I do like World at War Zombies but I was hoping it would be something else. I can't recommend it in its current state.
Le hace falta muuuucho para que este juego sea todo lo que promete en el trailer, el gunplay es tristísimo, los enemigos clónicos con hitbox y ragdolls horrendos.
Sick of cod being a cash grab full of AI generated trash? Download Blood Reaver! Very fun, being updated very often, with the same gameplay loop as the classic Black Ops 1 Zombies. Game will go places trust me.
I don't review often and was waiting for an update before reviewing. With the 0.11 update it fixed studders and the actual difficulty is better balanced compared to the original release. Honestly can't wait for more content as of right now it is a fun zombie replacement and hopefully down the road we get workshop support for custom maps and other mods. That's where I see this shining is with workshop and community support at the end of development. I think for $15 it's a buy if you're wanting the classic zombies from bo1 and waw.
very fun cod zombies-like. the animations/movement feel a bit janky but it doesn't affect gameplay. excited to see more content added to this game as the months go by. will definitely encourage friends to get this once it has more content
