Follow The Cpt Froggy Club Curator Page for plenty more!
You’ve got a blind date tonight and you’re waiting for her in the restaurant, but she’s not turned up so far. You check your phone for the time; she’s ten minutes late! It’s been a quite a while since you have been on a date, the nerves start creeping in along with a feeling of discomfort in the pit of your stomach. This is where you’ll start to make the first of many choices; do you sit still and wait patiently, do you take a sip of water, or do you shift uncomfortably and adjust your collar? The choice is yours! A couple of choices later Karen, your date for the night, turns up explaining that her car had broken down. She says that she knows your friend Rebecca and asks you your name. You’ll have the choice of four names, Kevin, Gert, Sherbert B. Sportnorth and Stanley. Karen will continue to ask you questions as she tries to get to know the type of person you are. For each question you’ll have a variety of answers to choose from; sometimes you’ll have only two options, other times four, but all will lead you down a path to one of the fifteen possible endings. As your date goes on, it may seem like you’re hitting it off together, however, this can change extremely quickly and get damn right weird at times. As I was going through my first play through, I was thinking, “This is going well”; we were talking about this ‘n that when suddenly everything went black. The next thing I know is that there’s a character with a TV for his head, who’s called Wate. I had totally lost the plot as Wate was going on about making choices, visiting beautiful worlds, fighting monsters and becoming a real Llama Planet. As I was trying to get my head around who the hell Wate was and where Karen had disappeared too, the game ended with me collecting my first achievement. I started a new game and thought I’d try some different choices and see what happens. Again, the date started off being fine, then Karen went from being pleasant to full on abusing me (#MeToo), calling me names and telling me that I’ll always be alone. Another time I thought I’d wake up with my kidneys or something missing, but instead found myself inside a box outside the front gate of the gulag. They’re not all negative outcomes though, and there are around another twelve or so endings. The playthroughs don’t take too long to complete, but finding all fifteen endings may take a fair amount of plays to complete, which isn’t that bad as the game it quite enjoyable to play. There’s not a lot in the way of options: Screen Resolution (1280x720, 1600x900 and 1920x1080), Fullscreen or Windowed along with Music Volume. The game’s dialog, pixel graphics and music are all good, and although I’m still trying to figure out who the hell Wate is, I’ve quite enjoyed playing the game. I’ve still got quite a few endings to find and if they’re like the ones I have completed already then, I’m going to thoroughly enjoy them. Positives + Nice pixel graphics + Good dialog + Fifteen endings + Has achievements Negatives - Goose broke my arm - No cards It’s been a while since you last had a date, and after this one, you might not want another. 7/10
Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes via THE CPT FROGGY CLUB! A fun, creepy, and sometimes existential Choose Your Own Adventure style game where you go on a blind date. Whats the worse that could happen? Well with 14 different endings, and a single playthrough taking about 10 minutes, apparently a lot. I really enjoyed the writing, the art style is great, and the full Steam release adds a lot more dialogue from the original version. You can check out my playthrough here, but I'd really recommend giving the game a try before looking into the endings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSAHxy1EdSI
This game is really interesting and at the same time creepy. I would not recommend it to psychologically weak or wounded people since it might hurt them further more. Getting all endings with trial and error method took me around two hours so even if the price, by itself, is not that expensive, I think it could've been lowered even more because 3€/hour isn't cheap ! However, I must say that it doesn't really bother me, in my eyes, the experience was worth the cost but I know that some people wouldn't think that way... Everything that happens is unexpected and while some endings are pretty "classic" considering the type of game (not talking about the dating part ;)), some others are really unexpected. Finally, for those who are into lore, "seeking-the-truth" type, don't expect anything of this game. It only raises personal reflections but you don't get to know anything concrete nor about your date, nor yourself as a character since your choices are at the beginning of everything while being very various. The whole game is only made to make you experience a new type of VN-like game, question your own insecurities, etc. there is no actual story whatsoever. By the way, there is multiple ways to come to a specific ending featuring different paths which allows some replayability if you want to uncover every dialogue and possibility even after getting every ending.
So, not gonna lie I kinda...really want to thumbs down this game; not because it's bad game wise. It just deeply wounded some feels tbh. ¯\_₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎_/¯ Needless to say if you're looking for a quirky game that'll give ya a good mind-****in' while riding a peculiar feelscoaster; this might be it!
Blind Date is a good simulation game about dating peoples with 14 differents endings. The designs are nice, the ambient is cozy. For his low price, it worth it, I recommend it! 💗
**Spoilers ahead** Your friend Rebecca makes a blind date between you and her friend Karen. You booked a table in a fancy restaurant to meet her, for dinner. Blind date has 14 finals. Some play with common blind date ideas, common fears that people naturally have when they go on such a date. You arrive at the restaurant, look at Karen, she is a beautiful woman, beautiful body, beautiful hair, beautiful eyes, kind and pleasant. She laughs at your jokes, praises you. Except that you never left your apartment, and this Karen is not the real Karen, but just a representation that you made of her in your fantasies. Before a blind date, who doesn't imagine the mysterious person as beautiful, kind, in short, the way you always dreamed of? But leaving on a date is not always so easy, especially if you are a shy person who feels like a failure. And Karen is not afraid to expose your true nature and humiliate you, you are pathetic, shy, you are not successful at all. Why are you going on a date if you don't deserve to be loved? Go on several dates, blind or not, chase the love of others forever, beg and crawl for it. But it won't make you feel better. You shouldn't have come / you shouldn't go. No matter what you say, Karen knows everything. Want to try to look like a badass? She sees through you. Are you going to victimize yourself? She will step on you. Karen knows everything because she is the dark side of your mind, the side that you have always been so afraid to confront. Will you face your weak side, overcome it and go towards the encounter with the real Karen? Even if it is not the way you idealize? Before leaving your apartment you need to face yourself, or maybe you can just stay and order a pizza, choosing never to look at your other side, and condemning yourself to live a life of lies and eternal failure, increasingly far from the self knowledge. Blind date is a great internal dialogue, of an anxious person and with low self-esteem, before leaving for a date. It can boil down to that.
Upon a first playthrough, you'll be treated to a wild ride, that can be really gutting in a lot of ways. It dives deeper into the core of an emotionally fragile character to an extent I wasn't expecting. That 20+ minutes was interesting enough to maybe warrant giving this one a try. But then you can take it a step further and search for 14 unique endings! This won't appeal to everyone. It's all just about navigating dialogue trees, with a combo of experimental trial and error, and reasoning out where a new dialogue option may lead. If you anticipate enjoying navigating all the options, this would be well worth your money! If you think you might just enjoy the one-and-done psychological journey, maybe wait till it's on sale closer to like $3
I received a free key from the developer and was not sure if I was going to actually check this game out. However, I played through one of the 14 endings and its actually a fun game. I really enjoyed the art style and there is some good humor and at least one tie-in to another game. I am planning on playing it further to check out the other endings. If you are looking for something inexpensive and fun to take an hour or so of time, you should really check out this game. Here is my play-through of one of the endings, don't watch if you don't want one of the 14 endings spoiled. https://youtu.be/WInURpWSa5Y

I was fortunate enough to get a free copy of the game, but I would have gladly paid for it. The writing and scene choices were entertaining and engaging. I highly recommend the game for the socially inept like myself. You can view my Let's Play video of it here if you are curious about what the game is about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmzVhDzMS2Q
