first things first, if your looking to play this game as a story game (like me, sort of as a recap of the Bleach anime) then dont do it, watch the show instead, the story is basicallly a copy paste but with a bunch of unadded details and wierd bugs and in consistent pacing, but thats not what the game is for, the real place the game shines is in its pvp combat, its so fun and addictive, if you want it for the story, then watch the show instead, but if you want an amazing bleach fighter game then go on, also the game suffers from poor optimization as well
Summary In short, this game is basically a 3D interactive version of the Bleach anime. If you're a big Bleach fan and want to experience the story again in 3D up through the end of the Hueco Mundo arc, that's exactly what this game offers. It's like a mix between a fighting game and a Telltale game. Instead of making choices, you'll play through major battles while completing optional bonus objectives during fights. The game also includes a Mission Mode that had a lot of potential but ultimately feels like it was added at the last minute. Overall, I'd give the game a 7/10. If you're looking to replay Bleach in a 3D format with decent gameplay and mediocre animations, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're expecting a deep fighting game, however, you may end up disappointed. The Combat The combat isn't terrible, but it often feels clunky, especially when using certain characters' special moves. Depending on who you're playing, you'll likely find yourself randomly missing attacks that should have connected. Ranged attacks and special abilities generally feel much worse than melee combat. The camera is also frustrating. It often feels like you have no control over it. The game puts too much emphasis on making combat look cinematic instead of making it feel satisfying to play. I would have preferred smoother combat and more abilities over flashy cinematic combat. That said, the core combat system is fairly unique. The Konpaku system acts as your true health, while the Reishi gauge functions like a shield (similar to Halo Reach kind of?). Personally, I think multiple health bars like the Dragon Ball games would have worked better, but the Konpaku system does encourage each character to be played a little differently, which is a nice touch. One thing I really liked was how many characters' Bankai abilities completely change the flow of a fight. Some transformations introduce entirely different mechanics, a really nice touch The Story The story is essentially just the Bleach anime recreated in 3D. You'll spend significantly more time watching cutscenes than actually playing the game, I'm not joking. Naturally, it's shorter than the anime itself, but the animations are often stiff and awkward. One thing that stood out to me was how exaggerated the characters' head movements are while running. Oddly enough, the game even includes some filler content. Considering that most people buying this game have probably already watched Bleach, I don't think recreating so much of the anime was the best use of development resources. Personally, I think the developers would have been better off using high-quality 2D manga-style panels with narration or recaps to tell the story. It feels like a huge portion of the budget went toward animating cutscenes instead of improving the gameplay. Other Stuff The music isn't great. The narration isn't great. The voice acting is okay. None of these elements are bad, they just don't really stand out. Mission Mode is a cool concept that could have been 10x better. Adding generic enemies like Hollows and lower-ranked Arrancar was a nice addition and helped make the world feel more complete. The Soul Crystal system for creating character builds was another good idea, but it also feels underdeveloped. I also would have liked to see more alternate costumes and color variations for the characters. Conclusion I think too much of the game's budget went into recreating the anime with cinematic cutscenes. If I wanted to watch Bleach, I'd watch the anime. I bought this because I wanted to play a game. I don't think the game is bad ,in fact I enjoyed it; but it could have been so much better. There are a lot of great ideas here, but many of them feel underutilized. If the developers make another Bleach game, I'd love to see them focus more on combat, replayability, and additional game modes instead of trying to recreate the entire anime in 3D. Personally, I'd love to see a Bleach game similar to Dragon Ball Xenoverse, where you can create your own Soul Reaper and develop your own character. More PvE content, co-op missions, and long-term progression would also give the game a much healthier lifespan. Despite my criticisms, I still hope we get more Bleach games in the future. The series has a lot of potential, and I'd love to see a bleach game that builds on some of the good ideas this game introduced.
Honest Trailers Parody:
Honest Trailer Voice: From Tamsoft and Bandai Namco comes the ultimate fighting game adaptation— Kisuke Urahara: —optimized explicitly for absolute clipboard-carrying spreadsheet enjoyers! Forget standard health bars, customers; you must manually translate five separate flashing gauges simultaneously! Trailer Voice: Experience a slow, rigid 3D movement engine built for— Coyote Starrk: —moving like a turtle wrapped in sandpaper. But honestly? This face-melting soundtrack is an absolute masterclass. Byakuya Kuchiki: If active combat must crawl so that my visual presentation can soar, then sit there in silence. Admire the hyper-saturated ink-shading of my scarf! Trailer Voice: Journey through a barebones single-player story mode that— Sosuke Aizen: —completely ran out of cash. Sit back and let the music gaslight you into forgetting half our roster is missing. Trailer Voice: Take the fight online, where the high-minded tactical art immediately dissolves into— Orihime Inoue: —a really stressful situation! I'm so sorry, I panicked and held my Santen Kesshun shield until the round timer ran out! Does anyone want a red bean and mustard bagel while the lobby reconnects? Kurosaki-kun?! Renji Abarai: As long as my Zabimaru strikes look this incredibly cinematic, I'm going to keep button-mashing until your console catches fire! Ikkaku Madarame: Who cares if the tracking physics are glitchy when the battle themes are pumping pure adrenaline?! Turn the volume up and fight me! Tōshirō Hitsugaya: My Awakening mode entirely deletes the competitive integrity of the bracket. Try to nerf its aesthetic perfection and I will freeze your entire console screen until the local tournament organizers forfeit the match! Trailer Voice: Stumble through a clunky user interface that feels utterly hostile to— Izuru Kira: —anyone who expects basic menu navigation. The UI is a direct reflection of our eternal post-launch suffering. Shūhei Hisagi: The audio team deserves a massive bonus! Too bad the balancing team left the actual game code in a ditch. Yumichika Ayasegawa: The collision detection might be a complete disaster, but look at the vibrant saturation of the color palette! It is simply stunning. Yachiru Kusajishi: Ken-chan! Look! The trailer guy is crying because he got infinite-looped by a tiny skull baby! Kenny, let's bite his microphone! Kenpachi Zaraki: BWAHAHAHA! Who cares about patch notes or frame data?! If the server eats my sword hits, I'll just swing ten times harder until the whole console shatters! Nelliel: Itsygo! Look at Nel's gorgeous adult ultimate animation! The graphics are so pretty, but why is Dondochakka crying in the character select screen? Pesche Guatiche: Infamy! The developers completely forgot to render my Infinite Slickness! This low-pacing movement speed is an absolute insult to our majestic running form! Dondochakka Birstanne: Oh, the humanity! My face is completely clipped through the stage geometry due to a day-one collision glitch, yasu! Kirio Hikifune: Oh, don't worry about a few massive frame rate drops when things explode, sweetie! Just eat up the deep-cut immersion! Head Captain Yamamoto: Do not live bowing down to a fluid sixty frames per second. Die standing up in the pure, gorgeous atmosphere of our universe! Don Kanonji: BWAHAHAHA! The mechanical balance is completely nonexistent, but the theatrical energy and amazing audio mixing are magnificent! Trailer Voice: (Sighs) If you dare question the balancing team's unhinged choices, the rest of the cast is waiting to call you out on every single different flaw imaginable: Soi Fon: "One lag spike, one kill! Check the patch notes, nerd!" Isshin Kurosaki: "Who cares about actual local versus mode?! Look at my fiery ink! Dad's still got it!" Kukaku Shiba: "If you don't stop spamming that same cheap projectile, I'm loading your console into my firework cannon and launching it to the Soul Palace!" Masaki Kurosaki: "The story mode is just PowerPoint text, but this heavy bass track is full of love!" Tenjiro Kirinji: "Crying about chip damage? Take a dip in my Blood Pond Hell, you hobo! Your neutral game is completely washed!" Kon: "I'm an unplayable stuffed lion, yet I still have a faster dash speed than your main! Respect the mascot!" Kurodo: "This entire defensive meta is completely hollow! My plush cape has more competitive depth!" Ririn: "Hey, dummy! Stop staring at my cute cape! I just trapped the enemy in an illusion maze, but you're too busy admiring my flawless hair!" Noba: "Your frame data... completely zipped up. My green zipper coat... vastly superior." Senjumaru Shutara: "I wove six luxury haoris and you're still playing like an absolute hobo!" Oetsu Nimaiya: "Yo! Blade's sharp, track is hot, your online connection is NOT! Check yourself!" Ichibei (Ichi-bae): "I rename your rollback netcode to TOTAL STUTTER! True art!" Sajin Komamura: "My massive ultimate armor got entirely hard-countered by a tiny projectile glitch! My absolute loyalty to the Head Captain cannot overcome this balancing catastrophe!" Gin Ichimaru: "My sword hit you from three screens away because of a janky hitbox. Ain't that stylish?" Tier Harribel: "A true sacrifice is enduring these oceanic frame drops. My Cascadas literally flooded the game engine." Coyote Starrk: "I was just trying to nap in the corner, but my auto-combo accidentally shot a thousand Ceros and crashed the server. Wake me when there's a patch." Retsu Unohana: "I will heal your life bar forever just to watch you whiff this auto-combo again." Nemu Kurotsuchi: "Your win rate is zero. However, Mayuri-sama's battle theme is a solid ten." Trailer Voice: Fine. Featuring: An Absolute Banger OST to mask the engine. 2005 Delay-Based Netcode that turns matches into gambling. Flawless Visual Authenticity via gorgeous ink effects. Hostile Deep-Cut UI Gatekeeping designed to cause headaches. Pure Theater Immersion right up until you hit a corner exploit. Trailer Voice: Alright, listen up, you colorful, PowerPoint-running cosmic gatekeepers. I've spent three minutes listening to you read diary entries about your broken neutral game, and frankly? Your spiritual pressure is absolute mid. Ichigo Kurosaki: Oh, look, the announcer thinks he's a main character. What're you gonna do, eat another delay-based lag spike? Trailer Voice: No, Kurosaki. I'm taking over the audio mix. (Suddenly, the iconic riffs of "Number One" by Hazel Fernandes blast through the speakers at maximum volume). You wanted theatre-quality presentation? Then enjoy the theme song of a real protagonist while I shatter your frame rate. BAAAAAAANKAAAIIIIIII! Honestus... Mic Drop! Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez: WHAT IS THIS PRESSURE?! My ultimate got entirely canceled by a licensed vocal track! Chad: I cannot imagine a world where the trailer guy loses. (The audio track crossfades with a brutally loud Cowbell Phonk remix. Chad stands in a flawless, jaw-sculpted Gigachad pose, slowly nodding his head while the frame rate unironically drops to a cinematic 15 FPS to process his density). Uryu Ishida: His audio bit-rate is reaching critical levels, it's structurally un-reblockable! Trailer Voice: Welcome to a real patch update, boys. Next time you want to trap someone in an infinite corner loop, remember who holds the master volume slider. Bleach: Rebirth of Stocks Nothin personnel kid
