About
Step into the world of BLACKWOOD, a gritty third-person action thriller that blends smooth, responsive combat with cinematic storytelling.
By day, you are a seemingly ordinary store owner, managing your small DVD shop in an authentic recreation of New York, 2012. When night falls, you descend into the city’s underworld as a contract killer, caught between survival, morality, and a past that refuses to stay buried.
Anton's story takes place over the course of three Acts. Each Act is a complete part of the overall story, with new missions added in between the major acts.
Current Act Roadmap:
Act 1: September 16, 2026
Act 2: March 2027
Act 3: September 2027
When you purchase BLACKWOOD, you are purchasing the full game. All future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners. If you buy BLACKWOOD at launch, you will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately.
Act One Coming September 16, 2026.

Gunplay is fast, stylish, and unforgiving. Keep the Action relentless with fluid movement options like dives, rolls, and slides. Every encounter feels cinematic yet responsive, giving you the freedom to create your own moments of chaos.
BLACKWOOD’s signature mechanic: countless contextual takedowns. From one-on-one hand-to-hand executions to using the environment around you, every fight is an opportunity to end your enemies with precision and style. Grounded, weighty, and satisfying to master.
Your store is more than just a front. It's where you live, decorate, and roleplay a “normal” existence. Buy and sell DVDs, change outfits, interact with your apartment, and explore RPG elements that make your dual identity feel tangible. The contrast between day and night defines the world and the choices you make.
BLACKWOOD introduces a cast of flawed, human characters navigating a violent city full of secrets. Every ad, tattoo, and poster tells a story. Every mission pulls you deeper into a web of conspiracies and consequences.
Take control of your DVD shop and decide how hands-on you want to be. Restock shelves, organize inventory, set prices, and jump in at the counter to keep profits high. Let it run on autopilot, and you will get by. Manage it smartly, and you can watch it turn into a powerful source of income

Reviews
I hope the developers will read this review. Normally I don't leave negative review, but this game was so annoying and not fun. I could never make a game so I just hope the developers don't think I hate them, but they need to improve and fix this game for Act 2 and 3. I leave it here what problems I had and hopefully they can fix it - Graphics is just ugly, I am not a "graphics first" guy but it is just not good. - Too few character models, including bad guys and civilians - On the metro station, lot of people pretending they are on the phone, but the developers forgot to add the phone in their hands! - Driving is just not good, the car has no weight, it's like sliding on ice, also nothing happens if we hit something, like other car or the wall - Invisible walls everywhere! Even at the first mission, after we got out from the severs - Fighting is bad, the enemy's punch can land 3 feet away from us but the game still registers hitting us - The last fistfight was awful, don't tell me that fat old guy can fight against us, but I had to finish the game on the easiest difficulty, because after that Silas guy picked up the iron pipe, he constantly killed me with 1-2 hits, I had to try it like 10 times, and I could only kill him if I just non-stop punched him, I was so angry by the end, I almost deleted the game. - Please don't put the player in near impossible situations, if you died at the part after opened up the door with the key card in the club, also if you died when the SWAT team appeared, after reload, the game puts you into the front of the enemy who immediately fires you with shotguns and machine guns. taking like 3/4 of your health in a second. - The game cheats, as the enemy do not enter into the scene, they just spawn in. - I tried to finish the challenge when you have to survive 10 waves, the only option to have a chance, if you hide in the corner once you killed the last enemy, otherwise the next wave can just spawn next to you and they can kill you with one shot. - Also there was a ridiculous bug in this challenge, the gun in my hand, also the gun on my back just started firing, used up all of my bullets without touching any button. - I finished the "film shooting" challenge but it was so annoying, I had to try the bathroom and museum scenes like 6-7 times because the game just said "you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up" in the middle of the fight, without telling me what did I wrong. - I hated that you had to get $800 to get your car from the garage, just to immediately lose it again. - Also you have to buy a silencer just to start the last mission, and 2 minutes later the guards just attack you. - I bought the supporter edition and I couldn't use the extra clothes. Basically I got it from the computer, then I had to quit from the game, once I started the game again, the computer said the clothes are out of stock and it wasn't even in my wardrobe either. - The only positive thing that I could tell that the characters can be interesting but you don't really get to know them, also the story is short. Because of this I don't know what's the point of the whole DVD store gameplay. Overall unfortunately it is not a good game , I would advise just to make a linear, Max Payne like action game, just polishing the fist fight and the driving, gun play is okay but please fix the spawning. And please improve the graphics. Kind regards Mate

I've tolerated the terrible mechanics up to my limit now. The game is good, but the melee fights especially with the bosses is pathetic. I know the developers were bringing out a act 1 for this which is already off to a bad start. But the fact that act 1 is full of issues is beyond a laughing stock.. The gunplay is awesome but it's not enough to purchase the game. At the moment I don't recommend the purchase of the game. But overall if they improve on the functions and control of the game this is this a game a I'd purchase.
a great game with a lot of things to do. even upgrading your store is addictive. and the action is great with some nice guns you can buy and upgrade.
Fun, but also not completely polished
This game feels like Max Payne x Sifu (to an extent) x John Wick. It really has something for everyone and I feel this game is getting a lot more slack than I think it deserves. You can tell there is a lot of love that has been poured into this all be it with a few areas of jank and lack of polish. The multiple episode release is questionable but it leaves a lot of room for improvements across each episode (PLAYTIME ISN'T ACCURATE AS I'VE LEFT IT ON IN THE BACKGROUND DOING OTHER THINGS, I'VE SPENT LIKE MAYBE HALF OF THAT TIME ACTUALLY PLAYING) Main Missions: Cinematic I'll admit I've not done much of the story but the missions I have done they have felt both in-depth and like Anton has actual stakes/reasons to fight. Again you can tell they lifted a LOT of ideas from the John Wick franchise especially with the opening mission but those sort of set pieces are exactly the sort of environments you want from a game like this. Side Missions: Limited I spent most of my time doing the side missions and, whilst there is variety in what you can do two of the contracts reuse the same map. The fight clubs are fine but suffer from the jank of the melee system which I will get onto shortly. Shooting range is fun to practice as well. Characters: Decent but not a lot to go on There's only a couple named characters i've met in my short time playing the game: Anton, the MC, Amelie, your co-worker, Ernesto, the random neighbour and Eddie the mechanic, if there are any others i simply just can't remember them or they didn't leave much of an impression on me. Voice acting is fine if not a little hollow at times but Amelie's VA is actually quite good. Customisation: Surprisingly in-depth An unexpected gem of the game. Anton has numerous styles he can throw on including suits, leather jackets, long coats, varsity jackets and other goodies. He has hats you can throw on too and they've teased glasses as coming eventually. The way you buy outfits is also nice and there is a good variety of colours and options, all be it they're a little expensive for the legal money side. The gun customisation is where the game shines. It features a TLOU style crafting bench mixed with Warzones level of depth in what you can do. You can switch out slides, rails, mags, grips and barrel attachments for each of your guns and create your own unique firearm. Economy and The Movie Store: Brilliant Additions. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE LITTLE STORE! Its a cute little addition which transforms this game from strictly a game as an assassin into a cute little "sim-like". The store feels realistic. Again people are dogging on this and I just don't see why, it was in the trailers so you knew what to expect. You don't even have to interact with it if you don't want to its completely optional after day one. The economy is decent all be-it they don't explain it in the best way. You have Clean Cash and Dirty Cash. Clean Cash: Earned through the store/laundering - Can be spent on clothes, upgrades and other goodies Dirty Cash: Earned through illegal activity (contracts, main missions) and can be spent on guns and weapon attachments Gunplay and Gun-fu: Excellent It feels weighty and has kick to it. I really like how you feel like you're shooting a live gun and not a nerf blaster. I think its where the game shines because after you customise your loadout to your liking, you become the assassin you want to be. The cover system feels realistic with Anton laying against pieces of cover in certain scenarios instead of crouching which I feel adds a lot of realism. The gun-fu is hands down the best I've personally seen so far in a game, but I've seen a lot of people complain about the "F to Win" button. You're playing a John Wick style shooter, realistically what on earth did you expect? Movement: Max Payne elements but overall just fine Nothing to really say here, you can dive around like Max Payne and the movements is fluid enough all be it with a little jank on keyboard Melee Combat: Needs Considerable Work The part of the game which I have the most issues with. The melee combat could absolutely be one of the powerhouses for a game like this but it is generic, rough and fails at the simplest of things which makes it a chore rather than something I enjoy doing. There's no lock on which means your camera is running around in circles trying to figure out where Anton is or where he's attacking. The counter system, when it works, feels good. But 9/10 times the counter just doesn't register or the prompt above enemies' heads will appear AFTER they've hit you. A part of me thinks this should be remade from the ground up because its just far too inconsistent for a game with a focus on combat. The Fight Club sections are made all the more difficult by the lack of polish on the melee system and whilst putting your gun away mid-fight in exchange for your fists is badass on paper, but in this game you end up fighting Caspar the friendly ghost more than any actual enemy. In the hideout you're able to change your moves but i've not once realised any change. My only praise for the system is that the takedowns are quite good and honestly very very brutal at times, especially the environmental takedowns. Graphics: Looks okay and runs well I dont know why everyone seems to be having issues with how the game is running. I have it run on my SSD and it runs like a dream, but I've seen people with builds better than mine struggle and I honestly haven't a clue why unless they're running the game off of their HDD. The graphics are fine they're not ground breaking in any respect BUT they are pretty enough as to where its not ugly to look at but its not perfect. Bugs: Present Across the four or so hours of actual gametime I only ran into 3 bugs, all of which happened on the same mission. 1) Clipped through the floor and got grappled by an enemy 2) got stuck outside 3) like GTA Online, enemies had a rapid fire bug which deleted my health bar. Other than that, the game ran well and without many bugs. Overall: 7/10 but needs to marinate The developers have gotten the formula down pretty well I think, theres enough there to keep you engaged but at the same time, not enough (as it stands) to last six whole months to a year between all the episodes. I hope the updates introduce new contracts, weapons, outfits, features and takedowns to keep the gameplay consistently fresh. Other than that, I don't see why people are so upset; its fundamentally a good little game with considerable potential. Only time will tell.
Хуетень,ужасные анимации лица,озвучка,единственное что сделанно хорошо,это анимации добиваний.
There is a fun game in here but I believe the team vision is too ambitious and they spread themselves too thin with the amount of features My overall experience: -Great Gunplay and Shooting but Melee is horrendous (I'm not sorry). -- The parry warning vfx is too short + poor indication on some attack animation / parry window is too tight + janky animation with little to no anticipation (You're just guessing the timing window between idle and attack state for its Ai state machine) -- Some attack animation has too little frames + damage hitbox become active way too early (Katana fight really show how bad melee combat in this game). --- Remedy: Reduce diffuculty settings for Melee then re adjust difficulty for shooting gameplay - Poor gameplay direction: things just happens, enemy spawns infront of you / player transition and move all over the place and start position of a new sequence is not great -- Melee sequence is somewhat dumb and feel forced. Plenty of distance and time for Anton to just draw his pistol and start blasting (Did not maintain suspension of disbelief - "rule of cool" is not convincing enough) . Story: - For something called Act I this didn't really establish Anton as a character or the world Anton is in fully. The story did not make me empathize with Anton at all because I know nothing about him, except that he likes movies + minor spoiler tid bits that have no impact at all, what about Anton being a hitman, how does he choose his target? does he have some sort of moral standards or just here for the money, why Hitman etc etc. This does not deserve the word "Act I" - this is straight up a prologue. My Personal UX nitpicking. - No Toggle keybind option for sprinting or aiming - No FOV settings (camera is too close to Anton for both normal state and aiming state, in my opinion) - Manual cover is confusing - I have to release all the key and press cover multiple time to get into cover. -- Auto Shoulder Switching is throwing me off (I think this is a setting you can turn off? I'm not sure) - No crouching or some way to lower Anton's stance - this could help with unusual cover behaviour. --- Anton can dive and shoot from laying position so I don't understand why there is no crouching. - All the MAIN important stuff setup in the basement but having to run a couple flight of stairs just to go to sleep in the apartment (I have no clue what's the reason for Anton setting up his shelter like this) - Can't the game just save when major game state changes (ie Finished a mission, closing the store) - why specifically sleeping. For most, I don't recommend this game AT ALL and quite possibly WILL NEVER recommend especially with this price and having to wait a whole year just so you can experience main story content with a total runtime of 3 modern movies (an hour and a half for each act - unless the dev managed to increase runtime for the other 2 act).
Bought The Supporter Edition, For 1 Fking Hour I Tried To Understand The Game And Convince Myself To Not Refund It. Then I Remembered Games Like Firewatch, Still Wakes The Deep All These Games Made By Small Studios Yet We Still Talk About These. So I Refunded.
I recommend
