I've played a lot of puzzle games before, but it's been a very long time since I've been this enthralled by one! — Jasmine_Steel
I could not think of a better puzzle game. — dr omsk
If you like solving mazes with different mechanics, this is for you! It's challenging enough to keep you thinking, and with new mechanics the further in you go, it doesn't get stale. — Ashman The Guy

As far as Chip's Challenge like puzzle games go, Blackshift is probably the strongest one I've played. — Asp

Make your own levels with the built-in level editor, and upload them to the Level Pit where other people can play them. There are thousands of user-created levels in the Pit, each with its own leaderboard. You can even watch replays of other people playing your levels. The Editor and the Pit are both built into the game; you can do everything from within Blackshift itself.

A top-down maze-based action puzzler, with elements and influences from Sokoban, Chip's Challenge, Boulderdash, and even Deadly Rooms of Death (DROD). Over 100 levels with optional secret challenges you won't even notice at first, and perfect level design. Controls are satisfyingly chunky, with excellent feedback and just the right amount of buffering; and chain reactions are frequent and fun (and often dangerous). There is an optional story, it's not going to blow your mind but it's another layer of interest. Custom levels are implemented seamlessly. Play-testing is instant and you can upload levels to the Level Pit and watch high score replays as well as death reels, which can be quite funny when people fall in your traps : ))) Finally, the negatives: All of these have been fixed since the game is still in active development. New features and performance enhancements are still being added to what is already a polished and satisfying game. I've gotten the good ending of the game and still haven't uncovered every last secret, and I'm still playing and making maps. More people should play this game, it feels great to play and the puzzles tickle your brain. If you like death mazes, building death mazes and dying in death mazes, this is the game for you! 9.75/10 A must for anyone who likes grid-based puzzle/adventure games and fans of death mazes.
I played this fabulous puzzle game way back when it was still called Netshift in 2010, there was a downloadable Blackshift back then as well, but very different in design.. I loved it and we used to make levels with other players, and cooperate together in making levels, it was a challenge to make it very difficult and beat each other. On the site of the developer one can still have a tiny sneakpeak (although not playable) on all those Netshift levels, fun to see my name there too, although I was called Domna back then. Nevertheless we are now 15 years later and it is still an amazing puzzle game, it changed in design but oh well it is still challenging and fun. And one thing, don't give up too quick, play through the tutorial levels and proceed to make your own,
This game is amazing!! I discovered it over 15 years ago when I was in university on the allegro.cc website, and it was fantastic, super original and even challenging for a puzzle game. This remake keeps everything the original had but with better graphics, new levels and new challenges, really amazing. I bought it on Itch.io 8 years ago and it hasn't stopped getting updates. I don't know if the author will read this, but if he does, thank you so much for all the amazing hours I spent playing your game, and for the ones to come... :-D!! PS: The level editor is amazing. 100% recommended.
I remember back when this was a flash game under the name "Netshift". This game has come a long way since then!
When there is a Silicon left in cleared level ,plz make a mark on map blinked not to take the trouble to check whether Silicon is still there or not. Currently only blue and red color exist.
If you love puzzles, then this is the game. Also, pretty much keyboard actions.
super interesting action puzzle game that has a shocking amount of really cool ideas going on. it's a lot like chips challenge, and in fact, it's a remake of a 2005 game, so it's very Of The Era, but unlike chips challenge, I think it does way more interesting things with the mechanic set, introducing a huge range of really interesting ideas and using all of them to their fullest potential. it's also got a nice layer of secrets to hunt! you can see my playtime to know that at this price it's an absolute steal, and if you finish the game and still want more, there's even a level editor and a custom level browser! It's an action game, not just a puzzler, so there is a few difficult-to-execute challenges, but I believe in you..!
I like the game (Good puzzles + Nice Graphics). My controller doesn't work with the game and I have to use the keyboard
Absolutely brilliant! I used to play the first 2005 blackshift and for the longest time i couldn't remember the name. Many times I googled trying to find it, then one day I did find the original game. After playing it and enjoying myself tremendously, I found out that the creator, Robin Allen of Foon made this revamped gem. I had so much fun playing this, feels like it was made for me. Uncountable mechanics, surprises, secrets, different ways to play. Also it was amazingly challenging sometimes. Just thank you, this made me immensely happy. This deserves much more recognition. I wish a famous gamer would get wind of this. All the best. Looking forward for the next games you make!
