I want to preface this by saying. This game is fun and has the potential to be great, fantastic even. Possibly one of the best VR games. However this is overshadowed by it's clunky feel and lack of optimization which makes it so I can't play this game at all. 75% of the time I have on this game is spent staring at a gray screen cause my game froze and teleported me somewhere else in the map and threw away my tools, whatever I was holding and making me stuck and unable to get back without restarting the game and losing progress. I have a 3070 and an Ryzen 7, I have attempted to optimize it through my graphics card. No dice I will return to this game after once they address the performance issues.
After playing the Demo I was excited to play the full version and was i pleasently surprised~ The graphics have been polished, all feels smoother and i've noticed some good changes like the chiseling speed that in demo took quite a while to get it done, while in here the process is much faster. I'll be happily coming back to this game. Exactly the VR Blacksmithing game i was looking for. One note tho: Please add the smooth turn speed, because the current one is a bit too slow. For wnow i'll be playing in snap mode, but i'd much rather use smooth turning like in other vr games.
Hands not detected on Oculus Rift, so the game is quite literally unplayable.

I'd love to tell you anything about the product but unfortunately I cant, I've had the game for a while now and the reason I have little play time is because every time I try and boot up the game it just seems to not connect to my index. Ill get the usual "Up next" message but then everything goes black and my vision never updates to the actual game, and its not like the game just doesn't load because I can hear the ambient noises of the start screen and I have visuals on my monitor but nothing i myself can see and nor can I move my hands in anyway. I've left inquiries on the discussion page multiple times but have never gotten any assistance, so I'll save you the trouble of not getting it either if you run into the same problem I did. Refund the game and don't bother or just don't buy it in the first place and risk it
Awesome game! Very fun and immersive. Played on quest 3. Shaping the metal was confusing at first, I always ended up with an uneven surface because of the hammer and tried grinding the cold piece of metal which didn't work. I wish it was more obvious that you need to work with the metal while it's still hot ALL the way through, and not only while rough shaping. Now I luckily got the hang of it and absolutely LOVE the game. Still has a lot of issues that prevents progression in parts where a tutorial is given. Couldn't get through the full tutorial/game because the game wouldn't register my interactions with it (holding/letting go or item not responding to my interactions).
I really enjoy the bit that I've played so far, but I wanted to give a few critiques 1- the subtitles that show up over your vision are very nauseating after a while and there didn't seem to be any setting to change this 2- the hammer is pretty weird when working with copper, I feel like i'm always either putting too much force in or not enough and its very difficult to get the right amount of force. though this one I might just need to get used to 3- the wait in between orders had me a bit confused for a moment. when I had a single order to do, I had to wait for it to ship out as well as wait for the confirmation. might be better to make confirmations arrive instantly or make the merchant move a bit faster if possible other than this, its a great game with a lot of potential. it looks like its getting regular updates so I look forward to playing more of the game
EDIT 7-13-24: I am changing my review to positive as after upgrading my PC's hardware, most of the technical issues have been resolved with this game. The game still struggles to ID what damage type of gear I am making but at least the game doesn't crash every 5 minutes anymore. I am leaving the rest of the review though as others with older CPUs may still experience the same issues. I really, REALLY, like the idea of this game with it's free-form smithing as opposed to every other game having simple crafting recipes. However, it simply doesn't work. If you perform any action too quickly, the game crashes. If you swing the hammer too hard, you get teleported back to the backyard as though you fell out of bounds. If you so much as blink during one of the scripted events, the event breaks and you have to reboot the game to restart the event and hope it works this time. Half the time, you submit an item that matches all the criteria and it just gets sent back with no mention of WHY it was denied. The free-form metal working is a great idea, and I really hope it gets fixed, but as it is now the game seems to have no idea what it is you are trying to make. Made a cylinder shape for a hammer? Game says: that's piercing damage. Razor sharp sword blade? Verdict: blunt damage. Outside of all these problems, the game is a really good idea, and I will definitely be keeping an eye on it for fixes. The concept is great, the visuals are colorful, the quest system rewarding more advanced materials to build more complex gear is a good idea, and the voice acting is pretty solid from the merchant. In it's current state, however, I cannot recommend it.
