This game surprised me. I had been in the mood for something different from what I had been playing lately and ended up stumbling upon this one while browsing the steam store. I downloaded it on a whim because the trailer looked interesting enough and I figured, it can't be that bad, right? i was blown away. I couldn't step away from my computer and ended up playing it from start to finish in one go. The gameplay and story are enthralling and it kept me engaged all the way to the end. I won't spoil too much, but do yourself a favor and check this one out. It's well worth $10 and I would give it 6 stars if I could.
Black Chapter is a thrilling game, it's like danganropa and corpse party. the art works are very nice, especially the characters design. the soundtrack is very fitting to the game, eerie and yet doesn't bore. The story is very well done. Kudos to the developers.
I got this game from the developers and played it around ~3 hours and find it awesome. I don`t know how far I have come, but I will play it definitely again. The story telling is well and the puzzles are not too hard and not to simple. Just perfect for me :D
Gotta say, its been years since i played a 2D horror that actually managed to get some spoops out of me. i havent gotten far yet but really digging it so far. +The art, nice characters +good dialogues (there is so far no walls of text) -i would have liked a small icon or something when next to something interractable,. like when looking at people -the pixel art, while it does the job, it also feels like it could be abit nicer so far, really enjoy it and really recommend it for anyone that want a nice litle spooptober game
If you like horror with danganronpa mixed game style, definetely worth your time and money. It actually made me flinch once which is hard for a horror movies/games veteran. Devs are listening to feedback and fix small bugs.
EDIT: According to the developer, they adjusted the sequence I was having the most issues with, so one day I may go back to this game. I'll change my review to Recommended simply because the dev addressed my concerns without 'talking down to me' like some do. Kudos. I got a refund on this one. Interesting game, and I love the character art (even if fabric doesn't really work like that :P). The story was enough to get me to keep going but here is what killed it for me: One touch death sequences with enemies that are the same speed as you (and some can go through walls), enemies that are slower than you, but then suddenly speed up and are faster than you, and enemies that are faster than you. The part that REALLY got me to rage quit and refund was a sequence where you have to turn off your light to avoid the light-sensitive 'faster-than-you' enemies. Except you can't see anything on screen except a small little circle around your character. The enemies are a dark color as well, so I kept running into them, even when I tried to go slow. After 6 or 7 game overs, that was enough for me. I'll probably try it again if the dev adjusts things to not be so...BS. Like I said, the story was interesting, and it kinda sucks that a poorly implemented sequence is the reason I gave up on this.
Really enjoyed this game! Still struggling what the true ending could be and how to get it.
Black Chapter is an incredibly tiny game in a big world. The game is interesting, short and sweet. I have played every ending despite my achievements not showing it (Probably because of some error) and I like how the endings aren't locked to a specific route or path and allows you to see all of them.
Engaging, short, and sweet. Some jumpscares, a few obnoxious enemies that you had to wait out, and some puzzles that happened to take a few extra minutes than others. Definitely worth a play if you enjoy RPG-maker horror.
It interesting. Not typically the type of game I play, but interesting enough to keep me playing. I wish I could be more development on the design of the characters. They were too simple in my opinion. The story is good, puzzle are also ok. I will recommend it if you are a fan or familiar with this genre of games.
