I made this app. it's pretty good.
One hour in and it's already addicting. I love it!
At first it was "eh" but I do enjoy using it for inspiration. And I really do hope to see the implementation of beat response! I create music and having a simple and unique tool to reach for for live visuals would be awesome. I know steam has a few up on their store, but nothing like animated pixel art. If it helps, I make electronic styles of music so it would fit that area very well (I strongly feel).
This is a really cool tool, but right now it seems like the sequence and gif export options appear to be broken on linux and possibly windows too (tested in proton), resulting in the animation being truncated, so I can't recommend this tool at this time unless you just want to make videos. I hope the dev fixes this soon. A shame, as I was definitely looking forward to experimenting with this in my workflow. To add, I've considered just ripping frames from the video exports via a quick-n-dirty python script but they appear to be using a lossy encoder for size purposes which would not be ideal. If the dev fixes this problem I will definitely switch this to a positive review.
Nope. Waste of Money. Crashes instantly over and over again. Third Party Devs unregulated by Steam, yet another fail.
You have got to read the manual. https://morgondag.io/bit_animation_editor_documentation.pdf But there are definitely issues and looks like no further updates since 2023 UE5 support was granted. The limitless use of this tool is up to the creator and knowing how to break up your animations, and in the timeline management, knowing what you want. You should ideally have a vision of what you want before you try to map it out with this tool.

I haven't even used the program fully yet because i was to focused on trying to get 100% achievement rate... I spent an hour and a half loading a hackintosh just so I can get the Mac Achievement.... Guys, come on, why even base achievements on what operating system someone is using? Seriously? This achievement system is bogus as heck. I can now work on getting 100% but not everyone who is going to be using this program is going to be computer saavy enough to be using virtualization to emulate operating systems that they don't have access to. I know I use Linux, and I can easily switch compatibility for this program to proton to get the Windows Achievement. And I can virtualize a mac to get the achievement for the Welcome Mac achievement. This achievement system isn't fair at all. -- I will edit this review when I actually get the time to give it a more thorough and detailed review on how the program works. I do intend to use it for art projects.-- Edit after testing: I can't export using Linux. I haven't tried on Windows but I have other programs I can export animations from in gif format. I was hoping for something that is good for pixel work but what can I say? I think this program is a cash grab at this point and I will be asking for a refund.
Прога очень прикольная Явно пригодится в создании графики для моей игры При сохранении на рабочий стол - программа вылетает, но если сохранять на диске D все работает, в остальном все супер
