NEW FREE PHOTOGRAPHY UPDATE: CAPPLER'S CONSPIRACY

Cappler’s Conspiracy is a new 2+ hour photography game hidden inside BIG HOPS. You’ll meet a conspiracy theorist Owl named Cappler who needs your help exploring some weird ideas. He’ll send you on jobs to prove (or disprove) the existence of Aliens, Ghosts, Mole People, and more. For your efforts you’ll be rewarded with dozens of new camera filters, lenses, and a special Sky Shifter gadget. To find Cappler and get to work, keep an eye out for Cappler’s special symbol hidden throughout the many worlds in BIG HOPS.

BIG HOPS is a 3D platformer, action-adventure with deep movement, fresh frog-tongue gameplay, where you can grow veggies to build paths forward!
You'll play as Hop, a young frog who's been kidnapped from home by a trickster spirit called Diss. He has a mysterious, important mission and needs your help, but you just want to get back to your family... After a bit of searching, a wiry old Raccoon offers to build you a way home if you can find a few Airship Parts. To build your Airship, you'll need to:
Infiltrate the Gulley Gang's Hideout at the edge of a vast Red Desert.
Become a Bucko and save DrillCO's Rigs Workers out on the Open Ocean.
Sneak past Haven cultists by spelunking under a Shattered Mountain.

Each World offers a self contained story. You'll meet a huge cast of characters, learn the conflicts of each world, and hopefully find some way to help. Will that help be altruistic or is it all selfish to get those sweet, sweet Airship Parts? Why did Diss really kidnap you? What's the purpose behind the Dark Drips he keeps asking you to collect? And if you collect them all, will Diss really let you go home?
You'll need to play for yourself to answer all these questions, so consider backing to help us finish BIG HOPS strong! Next let's talk about gameplay.

Character designs by Steven Sugar (background designer for Steven Universe & Owl House)

Movement is king in BIG HOPS and our kit goes deep. You can roll, dive, crouch jump, wall run, free climb, swim, belly slide, walk tightropes, pole swing, grind rails, ride minecarts and more. Everyone knows a great platformer starts with a great player controller and Hops' stacks up against the best-of-the-best.
You'll feel inspiration from Mario, Sonic Adventure, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hat in Time, and more. And that's all just Hop's basic moveset- from there we've added a ton of froggy flavor and ways to build your own paths forward.

The core-mechanic in BIG HOPS is Hop's versatile frog tongue! It's cute, goofy, and adds a surprising amount of freshness to this action-puzzle-platformer
Your tongue is how you interact. Use your tongue to pull items to your hands, hookshot up walls, and tongue-swing your way to ridiculous speeds.
Doors, switches, corks, plungers, flowers, flingers, levers, and lick-picking are all quick work thanks to Hop's tongue. You'll keep finding novel, goofy tongue interactions even 10+ hours into your playthrough.

Deep movement and tongue-gameplay give BIG HOPS legs and a fresh flavor, but the real magic is using powerful Veggies to build your own paths through levels

You'll find new types of Veggies as you explore and each has a unique effect when you throw it down in the world. Let's look at some examples:
Mushrooms become bounce pads to help clear hard jumps.
Acorns can grow vines around walls and ceilings to help you climb farther.
Balloons make temporary platforms and can stack to get serious height.
Oil Balls create hookshot points you can bounce off without losing speed.
Apples let you place your own tongue swinging points anywhere.
Cacti launch tightropes you can use to cross big gaps.
Since you can only hold one item at a time, Hop has a handy Backpack! As you play, you'll discover new Veggies and unlock more Backpack Slots to store them. You can open the Backpack any time, and using it in a stressful moment will slow down time so you can plan your next moves.

Collectibles are a genre staple and there are lots in BIG HOPS! We've worked hard to give them all gameplay uses, so you never feel like you're just checking off boxes

Earn Dark Drips to help with Diss' mysterious mission and unlock secrets.
Collect Dark Bits to earn gameplay modifying Trinkets for your backpack.
Buy Veggies + upgrade your Backpack, Wallet, and more at Drilson's Depot.
Buy Outfits, Hats, & Dyes to customize Hop's look at Odette's Outfitters.
Find and Identify real Bugs to fill your collection in Bugsy's Conservatory.
Uncover Blueprints to build totally normal and not-at-all busted Gadgets.
Find Mixtapes to play on in-game on your Boombox or Hop-man.

Equipping Trinkets means decorating your Backpack!
That's a weird bug...

Something we're proud of is how many different areas there are in BIG HOPS. As you explore the 4 main Worlds (Forest, Desert, Ocean, and Mountain), expect a lot of surprising offshoots like the Boneyard, Bucko Cove, Hydro Plant, and Gulley Gang HQ. All these different places to explore really make it feel like you're on a grand adventure!

Hi, Chris here! I started BIG HOPS in 2019 (6 years ago!!!) with a single goal of modernizing the 3D platformer genre. The design trend at the time of giving players real freedom and creativity in games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Spelunky, and Rimworld was so inspiring. Selfishly and jealously, I wanted to see emergent gameplay in my favorite genre.
Since then, BIG HOPS has become a maximalist game and taken on many more ideas and inspirations. Its mechanics, story, vibes, and humor draw on so many games and TV shows stretching back 40 years. Mario (64, Odyssey, Sunshine, and Galaxy) and Zelda (BOTW, Wind Waker, and Ocarina of Time) have both been huge influences. We also spend a lot of time talking about Sonic Adventure, Spelunky, Kingdom Hearts, Psychonauts, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spongebob, and Steven Universe.

I founded Luckshot Games in 2015 to make innovative, high quality games filled to the brim with character and charm. We funded our first game Sausage Sports Club on Kickstarter way back then and released it on Switch and Steam in 2018. We've aimed higher with BIG HOPS and the team is bigger than just Luckshot Games, so I want to give everyone a quick shout:

[This game was provided for free via giveaway] Gotta say, this is the best modern reboot of Chameleon Twist I think we'll ever get. Watch our full review right here: https://youtu.be/m70j8HPeFjM
Big Hops is a colorful 3D platforming adventure that builds its identity around freedom of movement, exploration, and creative environmental problem solving. Developed and published by Luckshot Games, it follows Hop, a young frog whose ordinary life is disrupted when a mysterious trickster spirit named Diss suddenly takes him away from his home. Hop wants nothing more than to return to his family, but accomplishing that task quickly becomes complicated. An elderly raccoon offers to construct an airship capable of taking him home, provided Hop can locate the necessary components. What begins as a relatively simple journey for transportation gradually develops into a much stranger adventure involving unusual communities, Dark Drips, Diss's questionable motives, and mysteries that encourage Hop to investigate the wider world. Movement is the foundation of Big Hops and easily one of its strongest qualities. Hop possesses an unusually broad collection of traversal abilities, including jumping, rolling, diving, crouch jumping, wall running, climbing, swimming, belly sliding, grinding rails, swinging from poles, balancing across tightropes, and traveling in minecarts. These actions are not merely separate tricks used at designated locations. Many can be chained together, allowing players to maintain momentum and devise faster or more entertaining ways through the environment. Learning how Hop moves is therefore a major part of progression even when the game is not explicitly unlocking something new. Hop's tongue adds another layer of flexibility. It works as much more than a humorous frog-themed grappling hook. Hop can use it to grab objects, pull items toward himself, swing from appropriate targets, activate switches, manipulate levers, remove corks, and interact with various environmental devices. Because the tongue complements Hop's other movement abilities, it becomes especially satisfying when incorporated into longer traversal sequences. A difficult gap might involve climbing, jumping, swinging, and diving rather than following a rigid sequence of predetermined platforms. The vegetable mechanic makes environmental problem solving even more inventive. Different vegetables produce different useful effects when placed in the world. Mushrooms become bounce pads, acorns generate climbable vines, balloons provide temporary platforms, apples establish swinging opportunities, Oil Balls create hookshot points, and cacti can form tightropes. This essentially allows players to carry pieces of platforming infrastructure with them. Instead of always discovering a single intended path, players can sometimes manufacture their own route using whatever resources they have available. Hop can directly carry an object while additional vegetables are stored inside his backpack, and opening the backpack slows time during demanding situations. The result is an effective mixture of action and improvisation. The adventure spreads these mechanics across four primary regions built around Forest, Desert, Ocean, and Mountain environments. Secondary locations such as the Boneyard, Bucko Cove, Hydro Plant, and Gulley Gang HQ add further variety. More importantly, these worlds contain their own characters and conflicts rather than functioning purely as oversized obstacle courses. Hop becomes involved with groups such as the Gulley Gang, DrillCO workers, Buckos, and Haven cultists while continuing his search for airship parts. This gives each stage of the journey some narrative purpose and prevents the game from feeling like nothing more than disconnected collectible playgrounds. Collecting is naturally an important part of the experience, but many discoveries provide tangible benefits. Dark Drips contribute to Diss's mysterious plans and reveal secrets, while Dark Bits can unlock Trinkets that modify gameplay. Players can gather resources and currency for vegetables and improvements to Hop's backpack and wallet. Cosmetic rewards include clothing, hats, and dyes, giving Hop plenty of opportunities for personalization. Trinkets even appear physically on his backpack, creating a pleasant connection between equipment and visual customization. There are plenty of optional diversions as well. Players can identify insects and contribute them to Bugsy's Conservatory, locate Blueprints connected with useful gadgets, and discover Mixtapes that can be played through Hop's portable music equipment. These activities reward curiosity and make wandering away from the obvious destination worthwhile. The game benefits greatly from this density because its movement mechanics are enjoyable enough that simply searching an unfamiliar corner can become entertaining even before a collectible is discovered. The presentation supports the playful design nicely. Hop is expressive and charming, while the animal characters and strange communities give the world a lighthearted personality. Character designs contributed by Steven Sugar fit comfortably with the game's animated aesthetic. Luckshot Games has drawn inspiration from numerous platforming, adventure, and animated works, and that broad range can be felt throughout the experience. Big Hops combines the accessibility of a cheerful collectathon with systems that encourage considerably more experimentation than its appearance might initially suggest. The Cappler's Conspiracy photography update expands the package further. It introduces Cappler, a conspiracy-obsessed owl who recruits Hop to investigate increasingly bizarre claims involving phenomena such as ghosts, aliens, and mole people. Photography becomes part of actual objectives rather than existing solely as a decorative camera mode. Completing these activities can provide camera filters, lenses, and the Sky Shifter gadget, while the additional missions give players another reason to revisit and closely examine the game's environments. Big Hops can occasionally feel almost too enthusiastic about introducing mechanics, collectibles, characters, and activities. Players looking for a tightly linear platformer may find its open-ended structure less focused than expected. Mastering the numerous movement options also requires practice, particularly when several abilities need to be combined. However, this complexity is precisely what makes traversal rewarding. The game encourages experimentation instead of demanding that every player solve an obstacle in exactly the same fashion. Ultimately, Big Hops succeeds by turning movement itself into a playground. Its combination of agile frog traversal, tongue-based interactions, deployable vegetables, exploration, environmental puzzles, useful collectibles, character-driven stories, customization, and optional activities gives the adventure substantial personality. Luckshot Games has created a platformer that respects the familiar pleasures of collecting and exploring while adding systems that allow players to approach the environment creatively. Hop's journey may begin with the simple desire to return home, but the unusual worlds and mechanical possibilities encountered along the way become the real attraction. For players who enjoy expressive 3D platformers where experimentation is as important as precision, Big Hops offers an imaginative and rewarding adventure. Rating: 8/10

Good
Very fun platformer with great movement options and interesting mechanics. No combat - only platforming, extra challenges, collection and story. Family friendly. There is some challenge for genre novices but it's on the easy side for more expert players. Absolutely no issues with physics or level design. It reminded me a little of A Hat In Time. Underrated!
Big Hops is a very polished platform and full of charm.
I enjoy.
STRONGLY recommend for even adults. This isn't just a cutesy game for the kids. Turn down the voice volume and the game oddly (and wonderfully) becomes Zelda Windwaker but as a Frog. What surprised me was that It's an adventure platformer with fun gadget mechanics and not just another generic platformer. Challenging puzzles, platforming with very tight controls to explore fun locations I found hours going by because of how the game kept me engaged.
Amazing game, didn't have such fun with movement since mario odyssey. And they just released a multiplayer update. Absolute mad lads
this is a cool little indie 3d platformer that is above all FUN AND COZY
