The game is a casual town-building game. Overall the game is OK but I ended up giving a thumbs-down because of some flaws: - the game is too easy, I managed to complete each level on first try and get a gold star. Later levels are titled "medium" and "hard" but they are basically similar to all the other levels - the UI feels cluttered. The low resolution isn't a problem as such but when there's a big talking head in the corner all the time even when there's nothing useful to say ("everything is going fine"), and the hovering on building gives a pretty big info pop-up above other buildings, it just feels busy. - a general feeling of slight imbalance e.g. the high price of the sheriffs vs. how easily they die when doing events or the amount of resources when buying/selling buildings All in all, if you want a casual game to click for a few hours, you might enjoy this. It's not that expensive anyway.

Big Bang West is a pointless screen tapper/clicker game designed to look like an old school city building game, but really it's much, much shallower, and works more like an incrementer/idler than a real game. There's little gameplay, just tapping on the screen to place buildings on static hardpoints on a flat 2D iso map. The game is made to look like you're making interesting decisions as you tap on the map of a town/village/pathway that has you clicking on various things to collect things which are then consumed when you build another building/item producer, which unlocks more things to click on. You do need to make some basic choices but this is not at all difficult. There's no mistake here, this is a railroaded mobile app screen tapper designed to keep you busy while you look at mobile app adverts. Which has somehow ended up on Steam as a cash grab. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Big Bang West might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 5 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Big Bang West has the cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Ark: Survival Evolved", "Mass Effect 3" or "Mass Effect 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. There's also thousands of free, superior quality games on Steam.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Don't expect too much. The game is nice, but very simple and short. I got it cheaper and wouldn't buy it for full price. Good game for short breaks or if you want to play it for a few hours at a time. It takes about 3.5 hours to complete it. There is always a large head at the bottom right above the playing area, which couldn't be more useless and just gets in the way. It would be great if you could turn it off. If the game was just a little more comprehensive, it would be worth the price. But in the end I would like a more complex game.
2/10 bare bones of a mobile free game into the hidden game abyss with you

It is a nice city building game. It is fun. But it is not really city building. Depending on the goals you can - after the buildup of the city - remove all housing and instead put down banks or stone mines or whatever you want. If you want, you can use it as puzzle game, you have to find the fastest way possible to archive the goals that have been set for you. But to be honest, I did that only the first 4 maps, then I avoided the goals to have longer to build the town. Perhaps I'll go through the levels again to get gold medals for all of them one day, but for now I have had enough. Nice game, if you get it for cheap, try it and have fun.
Fast and simple resource management game - both for the hardcore gamer and for children.
Vollkommen anspruchsloses Spiel. Empfehlung? Für's nebenbei spielen okay. Man kann nicht verlieren. Höhere Schwierigkeitsgrade der Levels drücken sich nur über längere Spielzeit der Levels aus. Einfach zu erlangende Errungenschaften (ca. 6-8 Stunden insgesamt, 35 Level, Errungenschaften können nicht verpasst werden). Mich hat das Spiel weniger als einen Euro gekostet. Das scheint mir ein angemessener Preis. (;
Great relaxing game! Bravo.
