Bientôt l’été is a videogame for two players. Two players who pretend to be lovers. They pretend to be lovers separated from each other by lightyears of deep space. They have lonely walks along the shore of a simulated ocean, thinking wistful thoughts of each other. Thoughts from ancient Earth literature by Marguerite Duras.

Cool game, had a lot of potential if the developer made it more meaningful, because the visuals and style are great. As far as I understood, the events take place in the future, since the main character is in a confined environment in outer space, surrounded by simulations and separated from their partner. So yeah, if you’re looking to play a weird but pretty cool co-op game — this one’s for you.
5/10 Bientôt l'été is an artistically ambitious walking simulator that focuses on human connection but falls short on game play for the price with a lack of players. My takeaway: The low rating and the non-recommendation is primarily for the price of the game for what you end up getting. The game's meaning isn't bad- it's the game that is. For $10 it falls extremely short for the price mark. You play as a blank slate man/woman who walks along the beach and talks about what seems like a relationship for quite some time in french. The whole games verbal dialogue is in french. Eventually you end up playing chess after entering this house (and I don't know how to play chess so you can probably understand my confusion) where you can smoke cigs, play cryptic tracks, and drink wine. You walk out of the home at the beach and collect chess pieces and go through weird cut scenes like coming across a giant pile of coal and such. The game itself is a little ugly in terms of the art style and color scheme. Everything is very bright so it'll be a little difficult to read the white words on their bright white beach. That is it. The game falls short on providing the story seen in the description and is extremely cryptic. Honestly while I was playing through the game I kept getting a creeped out feeling rather than a relaxing feeling due to the off putting music and changing scenery. Even the encounters with random things feel just like that- random things. Instead of creating and building a world that would resonate while playing this walking simulator everything kind of just falls short and feels like a pretentious painter rather than meaningful artwork. The key feature that the game has that sets it apart from the other kinda ugly walking simulators is the multiplayer aspect. The thought behind the art is that you'l communicate with someone else minimally and provides insight on human interaction. Very cool but falls very short considering no one is ever online. Pros

Beautiful meaning and message.
It does provide some sort of ambiance that it prides itself on.
Cons

Everything. Is. So. Bright.
The UI is confusing and ugly.
The game is ugly.
The music falls closer to scary than relaxing.
The dialogue falls closer to scary than romantic.
A little depressing.
Controls are clunky.
Minimal actual gameplay.
I don't smoke cigs or drink wine.
Somehow wasn't sure who the character was but still disliked them.
No one is ever on.

I don't love you anymore hit a little too close to home
To see more reviews like this one, support me by following my curating page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/46085490-SumiSux-At-Games/
hmm....
This is more of the artistic experience than what you imagine as the game, which is totally in compliance with the Tale of Tales intent. It's really poetic and calm experience. You can percieve Bientôt l'été as the place where you can go to take the rest from the real world, walk along the beach and meet your fictious lover. The only downside of this game is the lack of people that really play it. It is therefore hard to randomly find someone to interact with. On the other hand, if you reach the game forum, you should be able to find someone open to play the game with you. At the same time, there is the bot you interact with if there is no other player online. The actual way you interact is very interesting, you are limited to the phrases to choose from or to the certain actions like to drink a wine or to have a cigarette. This way you experience very strange date which may let you think about way how two distant lovers may interact and how meaningful (or unmeaningful) are the words.
This might be the worst walking simulator I have played and I have played some really bad ones. The game doesn't have sound settings or any kind of real settings at all, the controls are really weird and the game itself is weird, boring and doesn't explain anything what is going on. The price point of it is ridiculous too.
No instructions cuz if you press that button, this game crashes. Okay, so I tried and figured out how to play myself. Then when I tried to get into the house, it crashed again. Well, this game came out later than The Path, but seems there ain't much more to see. No one criticizes you for regarding yourself as an artist, but please don't make this title so hollow. Saying that your game emphasizes on the atmosphere and experience while you can not care less about the audience's experience? Ironic. Try to be more genuine next time. Tu as raison. C'est bientôt l'été et tout peut arriver.
This game was released before Itch(dot) io existed. A shame, as that was the place for an interesting experience like this to be. Unfortunately, I can't give a positive review for something that should be for free.
