Beyond Gravity is procedurally generated "platformer" where you jump in-between planets and try to collect as many pickups as you can. This gets progressively harder the further you jump. No need to worry tho as you can upgrade your character with loads of upgrades and power-ups!

Sometimes you need a mindless arcade game you can play a little each day. For me, Beyond Gravity fit the bill. You have a little astronaut jumping from spinning tiny "planet" to spinning tiny "planet". Procedurally-generated planets of different sizes and rotation speeds, sometimes in reverse. Your astronaut jumps in an arc. If you time it perfectly, he can grab all the floating cogs and screws. He can die from missing landing on a planet and falling into the void or getting hit by a fireball between two planets (thankfully not common). What kept me playing was the different goals, each goal being an achievement, and the upgrades you could buy. Not much graphical variety, only one long and catchy music, but a somewhat addictive game loop nevertheless. It's also super cheap.
BLAST OFF. Story: You play as an unnamed pilot, who while having a cruise in outer space, falls asleep and by accident crashes his ship, so to put it back together by locating the nuts and bolts that held it together. There's really not much a story here, there's an intro cutscene, but that's about it really, you're just thrown into and it's much more of a casual game so there's really no need for a deep story. Graphics: Beyond Gravity has a very cute art style that's not heavy on the eyes and in reality is quite pleasing to look at. The planets or asteroids you keep jumping between look pretty decent and there's a good amount of variety between them and sometimes there's even different creatures and items scattered around them which they don't do much, but is a nice inclusion. As far as the rest of it goes, I would have liked a bit more variety in the backgrounds. There's that deep space look to it, but I would have liked maybe a few background planets to appear as you advance further and further, but as far as it goes, I won't nitpick too much. Audio: This is probably my least favorite aspect of the game. There's only one music track and it constantly loops. By the time I reached the end of the game I genuinely felt like I was going to go insane, a variation of a few different tracks would have done wonders, but at least it's not as bad as some other games with one looping track. However every other sound effect is actually pretty decent. I especially like the noise it makes when you collect the bolts and the pitch getting higher as you string them together, it's incredibly satisfying chaining them together and fast and even by the ending I never got sick of it. There's really not much to speak of regarding other sound effects, but they're pretty decent. Gameplay: Beyond Gravity is basically one of those fun "reach the high score" mobile games where you have a very simple goal and try to reach the highest possible score, type games where you try to get that one more try when you know you can beat your current high score, however there's actually goals you have to accomplish. The basic gist is this, you have to jump between planets as they constantly spin. So when you land on a planet you press the jump button which will lock the planet in place and letting go will force you to jump and if you got the pathing right you just chain the jumps to get a higher score all while collecting the bolts which act as the guiding path. The goal is system is basically the "campaign" and they really fun to accomplish and range from absurdly easy to requiring a bit of skill to pull off, although don't worry, nothing in this game will make you tear your hair out. I think is the only big problem with the game and that's a few of the challenges and how they work. Some of the challenges are absurdly grindy, they're not hard, but will take up a bit of time to do, like jumping between a 1000 planets or collecting something a certain amount of times. However the biggest problem is that you can only do three challenges at a time, it would be much better if you could just do them all at the same time. Sometimes you could be doing amazing, but since you finished all your missions, the progress won't track so it's best to just kill yourself and get the new set of objectives. Of course you can keep going and collect the nuts and bolts so you can upgrade yourself which will make it easier, but by the time I had finished the game I haven't even unlocked 50% of the upgrades, because a lot of them are absurdly expensive. Verdict: Overall, I had a blast with Beyond Gravity. It's a fun casual experience that wasn't all too challenging and has quit the addictive gameplay loop. It does get a bit tedious by the end, but if you ever wanted a simple palette cleanser from your usual story games, this is a nice one to give a shot to. Final Rating: 7.5/10 Pros: + Gameplay is pretty addictive + Pleasing visual art style + Most of the challenges are really fun to do Cons: - A few of the challenges are grind heavy - There's one track that loops constantly and gets tedious fast If you liked this review please consider joining https://steamcommunity.com/groups/completingthebacklog

Fun game, kinda like "The Little Prince" simulator. Graphics are awesome
Fun for a few minutes at best. Very low difficulty as there is one obstacle in the entire game (fireballs) and everything else is doing the same 3 planet jumps over and over and over. Upgrades are lackluster and feel like I've achieved nothing after getting them. The amount of screws needed to grind some of them just means playing the game over and over and over and feeling more and more bored by the same monotonous "song" that's playing as you jump. On top of all of that, the achievements work horribly in this game, they are tied directly to the in game missions themselves. So if you need to jump to 1000 planets, but it's the last mission in the game. Even if you jump to a million planets before that, you gotta do 1000 more because you didn't have the mission in the game even though the achievement is for the same thing.
