It's really good.

Good (overall). The gunplay is amazing. The reloading mechanics are smooth and intuitive, excellent, except for the animations. Really unclear if the gun is ready to shoot or the animation is still processing. Also somethimes the gun hangs in your face for far too long - blocks your view in crucial moments, especially with lever-based rifles. The sprites are really nice, but sometimes the detail can be too sparse. For a doom-like I love that it doesn't become a maze, and I never became lost. It's one of the most tedious and annoying features of almost all boomer shooters. There's always a shake-up in gameplay, introducing either new guns or mechanincs, it's fun. The upgrade system is also quite interesting, I wouldn't say it'd hook me for another playthrough but it's nice to grow your own build and know that you're working towards unlocking something cool. Now the bad. The maps look abysmal. They have copy-pasted textures that don't make sense, the context of the level is highly ambiguous, the layout almost never makes sense story-wise (it doesn't have to, the gameplay of the level is fine). It all looks samey, blocky, washed out and not pretty to look at. The maps are also clashing in fidelity and tone to the sprites, as the sprites are highly detailed compared to a bunch of blue pixels, it's jarring. The food system - why? It's just pointless. You get two kinds of healthpacks - blood and food, food is capping your max health and restores cap and health whilst blood restores to the cap. It's unecessary and weird to munch in the middle of a fight if we're going for realism. The music. The tonal clash is tremendous. Why does the level need cheery meadow-frolicking vibes? To sell me the horrors of war, like "haha goofy music lolipops" and then blow someone's head clean off? To me, at least, it's not speaking too well and doesn't touch me, just another point to the annoying tonal clash. The gooning. It's everywhere. It's not like it's in-context either, it doesn't make sense at all. It's exactly like motorslice in that aspect - the lewd parts are out-of-place and take out of the experience (when the character runs out of breath she makes an ahegao face, extremely skimpy clothing for an armoured assassin and so on). I like lewd and edgy, but it needs to be woven naturally into the setting (Bayonetta or Guilty gear for example).

Its like a...I don't know, I can't really compare it to anything but Doom Eternal but more gun function orientated with hentai girls, the story is weird like you may have had an intimate relationship with your younger brother weird, but the gun play is peak and the tank sections are the just icing on the cake.
