Despite the weird looks, the game is pretty cool. It has fun and engaging mechanics. It's not too long, so you can complete it in one evening. Feels like TTRPG in a way. If I'd ever have to pick a good point-and-click (which I normally don't play), I'd pick this one.
It's very good, mechanically interesting but unfortunatelly it goes the way of many endings - I don't like many endings, I want more of the game, progressing through etc. In 2h you can pretty much finish all the objectives and it's not particularly hard, unless you opt in to never saving games.
Such a great game, looking forward to the new one. Id write more but I'm tired.
cosmo d is pretty clearly a cool guy with a lot of cool friends with cool and interesting hobbies
Betrayal At Club Low developed and published by Cosmo D Studios is a compact yet remarkably inventive narrative RPG that transforms a single nightclub infiltration into a playground of dice-driven decision making and surreal storytelling. Set inside the eccentric, neon-soaked confines of Club Low—a former coffin factory converted into a bizarre nightlife venue—the game casts you as an undercover agent posing as a pizza delivery worker on a mission to rescue a missing colleague. What unfolds is less a traditional stealth operation and more a dynamic tabletop-inspired experiment where every conversation, gamble, and social maneuver hinges on the roll of the dice. At the heart of the experience lies a tactile skill system built around literal, physics-based dice. Rather than abstract percentages or hidden calculations, your character’s abilities—such as Wit, Deception, Observation, Athletics, and Music—are represented as dice that you actively roll during skill checks. Success depends not only on your chosen approach but also on chance, risk management, and clever use of items that can modify outcomes. This mechanic injects tension into even mundane interactions, turning dialogue exchanges into high-stakes gambles. A failed roll doesn’t necessarily halt progress; instead, it branches the narrative in unexpected directions, reinforcing the game’s philosophy that failure can be as entertaining and meaningful as success. Exploration unfolds within the layered interior of Club Low, a space filled with eccentric patrons, suspicious bouncers, and secretive back rooms. The club is compact but intricately designed, encouraging players to revisit areas with new strategies or improved skills. Conversations are often surreal and humorous, blending absurdist dialogue with underlying intrigue. Every character interaction presents multiple possible approaches, from charming persuasion to bold confrontation, and the outcomes ripple through the story in tangible ways. The limited setting becomes a strength rather than a constraint, concentrating narrative density and allowing each playthrough to feel distinct. Replayability is one of the game’s defining strengths. With multiple endings and numerous branching outcomes, each run offers new discoveries depending on how you allocate skills and navigate social encounters. Because campaigns are relatively short, experimentation is encouraged. Players may attempt radically different strategies—focusing on charisma one playthrough, observation and stealth the next—leading to entirely different narrative arcs. This structure mirrors the unpredictability of tabletop role-playing sessions, where dice and player choices intertwine to create emergent storytelling. Visually, the game embraces a stylized 3D aesthetic that prioritizes personality over realism. Character models and environments are intentionally exaggerated, lending the world a slightly off-kilter charm that complements its surreal tone. Neon lighting and moody shadows enhance the nightclub atmosphere, while quirky animations emphasize the game’s playful nature. The soundtrack reinforces the setting with club-inspired beats and ambient cues that maintain energy without overwhelming dialogue-driven sequences. Thematically, Betrayal At Club Low explores ideas of identity, performance, and chance. Playing as an undercover operative in a social labyrinth underscores the tension between appearance and intention. The constant presence of dice mechanics highlights the role of randomness in shaping outcomes, subtly reflecting on the unpredictability of real-world interactions. Beneath its humor and eccentricity lies a clever meditation on control—how much is determined by skill, and how much by luck. While its compact scale and reliance on a single environment may not satisfy players seeking expansive RPG worlds, the game’s focused design ensures that every moment feels purposeful. Its mechanics remain fresh across multiple runs due to the interplay between choice and chance. Some players may find the randomness occasionally frustrating, especially during critical rolls, but that very unpredictability forms the core of its identity. Ultimately, Betrayal At Club Low stands out as a bold and imaginative fusion of digital RPG mechanics with tabletop sensibilities. Its dice-driven system, branching narrative paths, and surreal club setting create an experience that feels both intimate and dynamic. By embracing chance as a storytelling engine rather than a barrier, it delivers a uniquely playful and replayable adventure. For players who enjoy narrative experimentation, social strategy, and the thrill of rolling the dice, it offers a refreshingly inventive take on the RPG formula. Rating: 9/10
Cosmo D is the greatest game developer that has ever lived. Knowing what should be thrown together with no effort vs what deserves love and attention is a skill that is woefully underrepresented, and this horrid little dice puzzle game is hilarious & intriguing & beautiful in every way that any reasonable person should care about.
