Reviews
Fun and simple viking-type side scroller with decent story telling and cinematics. All props to the solo developer especially for being able to deliver this mostly by himself. The best part for me was the fight and the dialog with the last boss. Keep up the good work!
Lovely game, love the graphics and atmosphere. Cinematics are nice and consistent. Love the story and it is leap from previous title. I truly recommend it as it can be played and finished in couple of hours. If I play again after finished game I can solve achievemnets not available on first play, nice touch. Looks like developer is hard working on solving bugs..
I cant really recommend this one, the game doesnt well explain instelf leaving you to figure it out (just mash the 2 attack buttons and you'll be fine) and worse, the game kept crashing with "fatal errors"
The game continues directly from the first game, offering no recap and throwing you straight into the action. At its core, it is a story about revenge and rescuing a kidnapped daughter, but some background information would have been helpful for new players. Once again, you control a berserker and a mage. After the prologue mission, you can switch between them freely, and the inactive character follows you but does not assist in combat. Compared to the first game, where you simply cut down anyone in your path, this sequel places much greater emphasis on dialogue to give the characters more depth. Some conversations even offer two response options, encouraging a second playthrough, although it’s not required because the story is set in stone. The gameplay focuses on action without becoming overly complicated, despite featuring several buttons for different abilities. The primary attack is an axe strike that chains into a combo if you press the button repeatedly. Attacking consumes stamina, but it regenerates so quickly that it rarely becomes an issue unless you overuse the roll ability, which allows you to evade enemies quickly, though you cannot roll through them. The shield mechanic is slightly more delicate. Raising the shield blocks incoming damage, but each hit depletes a secondary bar beneath the stamina meter. Once that bar is empty, attacks will break through the shield and damage your health. Stamina is best reserved for three special abilities, each of which consumes a larger portion of the bar and requires a short cooldown. These include a forward dash, a shield strike, and a more powerful combo attack. The mage plays similarly, though her basic attack launches ranged fireballs, and her special abilities are replaced with fire spells. Because stamina regenerates so quickly, it is easy to rely on a simple strategy that works against most enemies. You can raise your shield, repeatedly use the main attack, and activate the stronger combo whenever it becomes available. In many cases, enemies do not even get the chance to retaliate, as they remain caught in this damage cycle. There is also an ultimate ability that becomes available after dealing enough damage, making battles even easier. There is only one stage, but it is open and visually appealing. Although movement is restricted to a single plane, allowing you to move only left and right, crossroads alter the direction of your path and provide some variation. This creates a slight sense of freedom, even though all routes eventually lead to the same destination. At times, paths are blocked by magical runes that prevent the berserker from progressing. The mage can destroy them through a simple mini game that involves rotating the runes. You may also encounter optional side quests along the way. However, the open design can leave you wandering without a clear sense of direction. While a map shows the entire stage with all the paths and your current location, it does not indicate your objective. Fortunately, the overall experience prioritizes accessibility over difficulty. Health regenerates, and death returns you to the last checkpoint without penalty. Defeated enemies remain dead, and there is no loot to lose. Although enemies drop gold, it serves no purpose, and you neither gain new equipment nor earn experience from combat. Unfortunately, the difficulty skyrockets during the final boss battle, which feels completely unbalanced and nearly impossible to win. Earlier in the game, enemies approach you one at a time, and even in larger groups they wait their turn. In the last fight, however, you’re flanked by enemies on both sides. As you focus on striking one, the other attacks from behind and stuns you, leaving you unable to fight back, which leads to cheap deaths. The game runs smoothly overall, and minor bugs are unlikely to cause frustration. Occasionally, you may be unable to jump, or an enemy might stand idle, but these issues do not significantly impact the experience. One major bug, however, resets quests. While this can unintentionally allow players to earn certain achievements without a second playthrough, it also makes it difficult to determine whether a quest has been completed. There will be a checkmark next to an objective, but it’s actually not done. Fortunately, this issue does not affect the main storyline, and the game can still be finished without major problems.
I like the effects like rain, lightning flashes, water effects, small waves while walking through the water, the reflection of the character on the water surface. I like the mud and small puddles of water, as well as the reflection on those puddles. I like the fog in the background. On the Loading Screen while waiting to load, I like wise sayings like "Wisdom is welcome wherever it comes from" or "Better to fight and fall than to live without hope". I like the glowing effect of the shield on the female character. What could be a little better is a more noticeable collision of weapons hitting the enemy, but the combat animations look great. The whole atmosphere and level design are very tastefully done. Lots of details that immerse you in the game. I would also like to praise that the characters look very good and I especially like the very interesting cinematic sequences, I mean the scenes where the characters talk. I haven't finished it yet, but after about an hour of playing, I can say that I really like the game and that I would recommend it to everyone. :)
A câmera é outro problema.
Outro ponto positivo é a ambientação. De forma geral, Berserker 2: The Saga of Hilde me passou uma impressão bastante positiva. Recomendo.
