The next time someone tries to tell you that video games have no substance or are the worst form of media, humbly turn their attention to this game. The game is made to be played with a webcam, tracking your eye movements and blink rate to move through the story. It give you the option to use it without this feature. I chose to go without and the game didn't lose its impact for sure. The story is engaging, especially with its unique gameplay elements. Its highly immersive, and as a result its easy to feel for the characters, which made it all the more devastating as the story progressed. The voiceovers and audio in the game were really well done, which added extra calmness during the high points and darkness for the low. The game is short and can be finished within two hours, but don't let the short runtime deter you. The story is masterfully told and would have fallen flat if it had been extended for length's sake. I bought the game on sale for a few dollars and I didn't feel like I wasted time or money which other short games tend to do. This is my personal take, your mileage may vary. But I liken this game to What Remains of Edith Finch. You are living the life of another human being through their eyes, heartache and all. And like Edith Finch, I was a total wreck by the end. As the credits rolled for the game, I sat for a bit and sobbed. And like Edith Finch, the game and story will stick with me for a long time. If you're looking to play a game for an escape, this is not the one to turn to. However, if you are looking for an EXPERIENCE, this is it.
