This review is based on 2 hours of gameplay and comparison to Beekyr 2014. Beekyr Reloaded is an HD remaster of the original game. Level design and enemies are the same. The differences are minor, mostly enhanced graphics for a more detailed and rich world. The gameplay tweaks are a different shooting pattern from Beekyr as well as the use of bombs in all levels. The gameplay difficulty level of Reloaded seems to be a bit higher as well. Overall, the game is prettier. I can't call it better than the original though. The richer and more detailed graphics actually present problems in gameplay where it is difficult to see enemies. The prime example is the rain level where it is so distracting it is really hard to see enemies sometimes. The hive areas also seem darker in comparison to the original game making those levels a bit more difficult. Also too, the game feels slower due to the graphics (although in a side-by-side they run at the same speed). Reloaded comes down to preference: For $1.99 you can get the OG version with 99.5% of the gameplay experience. You will get the ads however. For $9.99 you can get Reloaded with the prettier graphics, a couple of gameplay tweaks and lose the ads between levels. If you value graphics equal to gameplay then Reloaded is the game for you and is is recommended for that type of player. However, overall the game is worth of playing and I will recommend it.
I haven't played this game enough to give a very proper review but just mentioning that so far it's a great take on the classic spaceship style shoot em up scrolling game. The art is outstanding. My only gripe may be chalked up to being old or out of practice but sometimes there is a little to much "visual spam"for me. If you like this type of game, the horizontal/vertical shooter I think this is a solid choice. The other game made my this company that uses sprite art, slam and roll, is also worth a look.
An absolute masterpiece. BEEKYR is one of the most interesting shmups I've ever played. All around a wonderful game.
https://youtu.be/Zd-yAWI7SPk Great atmospheric side scrolling shmup. Gameplay and music are on point. I keep coming back because of the leaderboards. Worthy title that works well with an arcade stick.
I almost liked it, it's almost good, a very acceptable shmup, even enjoyable from time to time, but in the end, too many small inconveniences that come spoiling the experience. GOOD POINTS: As said, the game is acceptable, contains all the correct elements of the genre, a good progression margin for the player, etc... The game has a strong theme and sticks to it, which kinda influences a lot the game and gameplay. Rather nice graphics and works satisfactorily on my potato computer, although there are strong slow downs, but this is kinda acceptable in the shmup genre lol The graphics are pretty good, very solid graphic work, good animations The save system is good. We're not playing shmups in arcade anymore and saving the game is important. It's important to keep balance between skill and save progression. Not all games do this satisfactorily BAD POINTS:

memory hole problems. If you play for too long the game becomes unplayable and ends up freezing. Even if you let it on the menu.
UNNECESSARY VERTICAL INTERLUDES. The devs thought it was a good idea to insert a vertical level after each mid-boss, but this level is way too difficult and hectic and becomes impossible to pass without losing 2-3 lives toward the last worlds. This is bad because you can't really get better at this level, it's mostly luck-based. That made me stop playing.
bad keyboard controls, no diagonals
no variety in the weapons, there's only one weapon type and no variations at all
once you levelup your weapon, THE BULLETS ADOPT A SINUSOIDAL TRAJECTORY THAT MAKES THE GAME MORE DIFFICULT.I hate when shmups do this ♥♥♥♥...
Well bottom line : there are now enough shmups on steam that I can put thumb downs rather than just support them at any cost
(follow my curator page GenXPlayers for more retro and indie reviews)
Not a very good shooter.
