I will say it right off the bat. Bebop and Tempo is not a perfect game, but by no means is it a terrible game. Generally speaking, the game is very much like a platformer or arcade game on NES or any other retro console. Don't hold your breath for an in depth story, leveling system, or an inventory system. If you are looking for lots of eye candy, then skip Bebop and Tempo because you wont get it here. So then what does Bebop and Tempo have to offer? A game with charm, retro feels, and death...lots of it. Bebop and Tempo is a challenging game. I sort of breezed through the first area, a couple of hiccups here and there. Let me tell you, the game gets much harder the more you progress. If you want to get the best score possible, which in this games case the lower is better, you really have to master controlling your character. Thankfully the controls in Bebop and Tempo are solid. You have your basic directions, left, down, and right. Then you have three action buttons, jump, switch, and attack. Let me take the time to say thank you developer for thinking that not everyone plays games like you. You can rebind your keyboard controls in the options menu. Also, I was able to plug in an Xbox One control and it worked no problem, but you can not rebind the Xbox Control layout. Anyways, each character you can switch between do different actions such as dodging vs stomping. It is very rewarding to smash through a level and realize that you are only pushing three buttons. but pushing them at the right point, place, and time. Again, it is not easy to do this since enemies will be throwing objects, flying through walls, and even blocking your attacks. I will say that I do find Bebop and Tempo to be fair. My deaths/mistake were easily correctable on the next play through. Although you may find yourself saying "stupid ducking turtles!" or something that rhymes with that... In a nut shell, you have to clear each level as fast as you can by killing all of the enemies which then opens the exit door. Levels can be short, have no enemies, maze like puzzles, long like a castle(literally), a ton of enemies, and any combination of the aforementioned. Some levels have a secondary objective by collecting extra fruit things which then gives you a star for that level. I don't want to ruin too much but if you collect all the stars in an area and can complete what comes next...Please do let me know because it has already taken 100 deaths from me. The music is great but may not be for everyone. You can close your eyes and listen to the music and feel like you are sitting 4 feet away from your old CRT and your NES. I don’t know much about music but I either like it or hate it, and I like it. So great job on that part. As far as graphics go, Bebop and Tempo is definitely taking notes from classic NES games like Kirby and Mario. Unfortunately, the game is not pixel perfect. There are a few instances where some characters look different as if more detail was put into them. Almost like two different pixel sizes. There are also a few graphical glitches here and there. I mean I am really nit picking but its there and can be noticeable if you look out for it. Otherwise, all of the levels and characters are very colorful and charming. Oh Versus Mode...I had my doubts about you. The main menu for Versus Mode looks very simple. You can choose your game length, balloon count (which act like health), level, and whether or not you want enemies on or off. Take my advice, turn enemies off, select any time amount, and play with one balloon each. Your friend can squeeze along your side and you can both play on one keyboard. However, you can not rebind the multiplayer keys. Also, the button layout is different and unless you want to figure out what each button does for what player, it looks like you have to actually read the instruction manual that comes with the game, which is on Bebop and Tempo's website and Steam apparently. My friend and I also were able to play both with Xbox one controls and a combination of one player on keyboard and the other on an Xbox control. So how long is Bebop and Tempo? I have unlocked all of the areas, modes, and multiplayer levels. I have played adventure mode for about an hour and a half and I am at 33% completion. My guess is that I can get to 100% in about 4-5 hours. In conclusion, Bebop and Tempo is a great game and I do have fun playing it. The music and graphics may turn away some, but I love a game that challenges me. For an arcade/platforming game, Bebop and Tempo is by no means a 10/10 or even a 9/10, but I do feel comfortable giving it an 8/10 and recommending a buy.
Saw and bought at denver comic con, thinking that this wouldnt be like dark souls
I really tried to like this game but it doesn't make sense
I received this game for free from a random drawing on a website I frequent. I guess its just not my sort of game. Very little in the way of instructions, no discernable reason for doing what you are doing, gameplay that seems to be designed simply to frustrate and annoy, and a "ghost" mechanic that is not only unhelpful but actively interferes with your ability to play the game. I think I made it about 3 brutal levels in and believe I would have more fun pounding my head against a wall and counting the stars. Maybe this flavor of game appeals to some folks...but I just don't understand how anyone could think of this as fun. Challenging? Sure. But fun? Hard pass...
Although, I've only played a few minutes of the game I really liked it from the moment I saw it on Kickstarter. It's nice to see a kickstarter actually come to light especially when you donated to the cause. I liked the game because although it looks simple it is not. The game gives enough challenge and frustration that makes you come back for more. This is not a game for someone who doesn't like to be challenged. The game can be played via Keyboard or Controller. I prefer to play with a Controller. I really enjoy the game and encourage anyone to try the game for themselves. It's worth it plus it has the retro feel and who doesn't like retro games?

Overall, this is great value for money and does what so many games these days don't do: offers a real challenge! It offers a good level of difficulty and the fast pace of the game will always have you going back for just one more try. The characters are cute and loveable and the art and music work perfectly together. Love it!
It's A fine game. I just couldn't continue playing it because of the art style. I would have played it more if it had more shaders.
