Classic breaker gameplay with a bunch of really fun new mechanics. The dash can be a bit strange, but the physics are quite nice otherwise. I liked the paddle jump. Best experienced with friends. https://youtu.be/IWrMMHSETek

All you had to do was made a brick-breaker game...and you failed. There's so much good about this game (powerups, old skool graphics, chip tune music) but it utterly fails in one very simple department: controls. Besides the fact that I couldn't get my controller to work, your paddle is utterly impossible to control. Rather than 1:1 control over your paddle, the bloody thing goes flying across the screen when you hold in the button. It accelerates. How are you supposed to play a brick breaker game when you paddle accelerates? Do you know how hard it is to account for a tiny ball among all the chaos on screen when your own paddle can't reliably move where you want it. Oh, and you have to Alt + F4 to go into full screen. 2020 and there's not native full screen. Thanks...

So far a really cool and unique take on a familiar genre! The 8-bit music and graphic style is awesome. I also really appreciate that you can customise the controls, turn certain features on/off and how many different game modes there are. I look forward to seeing what else this game has to offer :)

game is alot of fun,has that nice old school arkanoid feel which i like.it also runs on linux through proton.

Beautiful Bricks is a fabulous puzzle game based on the award winning game ARKANOID from the 80s. It requires skill, lots of assumption and luck! Its simply a case of keeping the falling ball in play by using your bat to knock it back up and destroy any destroyable blocks, sounds easy? well it is for the first 10 or so levels, then you'll find things start getting challenging. Some blocks when destroyed drop power ups giving your bat lots of new abilities like shooting, stretching, and some may lead to you shrinking. What sets this game apart from its older clones is the fact your bat can be made to jump, summersault and other wacky moves giving you more of a punt on the ball, providing you hit the sweet spot. Controls can be done with a keyboard and joypad and like all these games I found them slightly awkward, but that’s due to controllers and keyboards having precision issues with games like these, this isn’t the developers fault, in fact, the dev has done a splendid job of allowing the player to "dash" the bat by double tapping left or right. Back in the day these games were played using a ball which was fixed to the cabinet allowing the player to being more precise by spinning the ball, but then again some found it an issue learning this new controller. Anyway, not getting into a history lesson. The game features some crisp graphics and booming sounds, also allows 4 player simultaneous action!! plus VS mode, split screen and a lovely array of options. I rate this 8 out of 10, its a great fun game and I look forward to more updates. You may not copy any part of this review without permission.

amazing game 10/10 heaps of fun, plenty of challenges, quality game

As you might have already guessed, this game is essentially an Arkanoid clone but a very good one at that. In fact I would argue that it expands on the classic formula quite a bit by adding stuff like boss battles, various game modes, scrolling levels and tons of levels and power-ups. The main game mode alone offers a lot of variety due to a clever level shuffling system and the boss fights. Beating it solo can be quite challenging and feels somewhat methodical which is neat but the game really accelerates in multiplayer. Playing with friends is often way more frantic and trying to beat it together makes for a really enjoyable challenge. I can really recommend it to anyone with a preference for classic arcade games and couch coop.
