This bridges the gap between dungeon crawler and rhythm game a lot better than Crypt of the Necrodancer tbh. It's super creative, and I'm excited to play more. The boss fights are super captivating and I'm definitely starting to feel the flow state. Haven't played anything like this in a while.
11/10 Nothing more to say
Banger game. Banger music. Beats of Betrayal is probably the best rhythym rogue like, it has many unique floors with their own enemies and bosses. All characters have their own ability which makes them have a unique playstyle.
Cool graphics. Great music. I died to walking chairs. Great stuff.
“Beats of Betrayal” had me completely hooked from the very first second! The combination of music and strategy is simply ultra fresh. The beats really hit home!! The gameplay is just right: challenging, but not unfair, and the different modes provide really nice variety. And let's be honest, the soundtrack? Absolutely killer - it adds so much to the atmosphere that you really get into the flow. So, if you fancy an innovative game with really fat music vibes, then get yourself “Beats of Betrayal”. This little indie gem needs your support - it really is a hidden gem!
One of the best games I've played in years. I had the chance to playtest it at Gamescom2023, been a big fan since then. If you enjoyed Crypt of the Necrodancer you will definitely love this game. Understanding and learning the game is very quick and self-explanatory. The developers are very open to ideas and feedback over on their discord and work super transparent. The gameplay aswell as the soundtrack is a true masterpiece.. brings back this nostalgic feeling of my childhood again in a more modern setting. Difficulty is adjustable to your skill level, bringing new challenges with them every time. Trying to have some casual fun? Possible! Trying to set a new highscore? Possible! Trying to speedrun? Possible! Trying to perfect your movement? Possible! Trying to achieve everything at the same time? GL HF! Try it yourself, this is a 10/10 for me.
It's very fun and reminiscent of the roguelikes of my childhood - but also a music game.
It is very cool, The graphics I enjoy a lot, bright colors paired with darkness is chef's kiss. The pixel art is very charming. The music is amazing. The gameplay is very fun! And that 'difficult' tag is certainly not a lie! The controls feel buttery smooth, too. All in all, feels pretty solid already so I have high hopes for this one. What ultimately will make or break the game for me in wanting to sink much more time into it, is whether or not the planned but not promised permanent upgrade system will come eventually. It is what has made me love the rougelike genre because I am a fan of grinding and unlocking power-ups and stuff. It feels bad when doing runs and getting nothing to show for it. Of course, I am slowly getting better so in that sense there's progression in the sense of the player getting better. But still. I am eagerly awaiting and hoping for such an update to come.
Game is hard. My head hurts, I have no idea what's going on, so many things happening at once but it looks very pretty. Surely just one more run and I will defeat those damn birds in their oversized tree mansion. Unless I get shanked by the gnomes in the forest again... 10/10 I'm addicted.
Fun and creative rhythm game with great sound!
