This game is great! I guess it's the best rhythm game this year! After already playing the demo before, the early access version gives you a bunch of new content to try. What I love most about the game are the roguelike mechanics. So, in addition to having an awesome rhythm game, you get to choose your own character and find upgrades all over different stages. When you reach a boss fight at the end of a stage, the game gets even more intense! There is no better feeling than slowly crushing a boss while listening to the game's great OST (forest stage OST -> best). As far as I know, all the games' music is done by the developers as well! It just shows how much love the developers put into the game. Can't wait for the full game to come out! 10/10
I am not musically talented at all. As someone who has been resistant to actually learning music despite being fortunate enough to have been surrounded by opportunities to learn, I freaking love rhythm games and I LOVE THIS ONE. What separates it from others in the genre most obviously I think is the bullet hell aspect and having to focus on avoiding actual enemies as well as keeping on pace, and I think it’s very fun and different. Gives a new variety to the genre. 😊 I am also not talented when it comes to bullet hell games, or really any games, but I don’t think that matters for this title and really don’t think anyone should let that worry stand in their way of trying it due to intimidation. It’s really intuitive and also a great joy to learn the beats and to practice.
Holy buckets! What a unique experience. The thrill of bullet hell, mixed with attacking on beat is a trip. Definitely not an easy game, but super fun and addicting. The music is great too!
'Beats of Betrayal' is a hidden gem in the world of indie games, seamlessly blending adventure, roguelike mechanics and rhythm-based combat into an experience that feels both fresh an exhilarating. From the moment you dive into this vibrant world, you're greeted by a stunningly colorful art style that draws you in and makes exploration a true delight. I really suck at playing this game, but its fun anyways!
One of the few hybrid rhythm/action games that really grabbed me. The two aspects really complement each other nicely here. Add to that a unique visual style, some banging beats and a dose of humor, and I'm very excited for what's to come! Also, nice to see native linux support and generally low resource usage. Works great on a handheld, especially since audio and video latency are basically zero on my GPD Win 4.
So, cleared my first run and gotta say, Alice with doggo is the best <3 Really like how the power-ups and the swaping and upgrading system at the end of a stage turned out. Gives you a chance to try out the different power-ups faster and gives you a chance for pretty funny combos ^_^ Wanna play some more, but it's late qq Anyway, great job guys ^-^
aesthetically very pleasing, good sound design. the first thing it does is teach you how to play kick drum and then snare drum and basically you're immediately taught how to be a drummer and do a two beat. this rules. feedback: -Gameplay would be a lot smoother if the lock function the lock on button was a toggle instead of being held. currently, you have to hold down the space button on the keyboard or point the stick in the direction of who you are targeting. it would probably be easier to accommodate that kind of play style if the kick and dash buttons were on the shoulder buttons by default. the game is very pretty and i enjoy the style of it, but the game has you looking at the map, shooting, avoiding bullets, etc while trying to keep track of the upcoming notes to anticipate breaks in the beat(which is cool). It's a bit jarring and undermines the flow of bullet dodging. For accessibility, it would be extremely cool if enemies and the character sprite performed a 2 step to the rhythm of the song, and their dance pattern changes to gear up for when the beat breaks. something that would express the upcoming change in the rhythm from all of the dudes that i am fighting would just be a cool signalling moment to the viewer and player. it might is it possible to outline enemies? when i fought the first boss, it was not clear how close i could get to the boss without getting hit, so i kept getting hit until i figured out my range through trial and error. i look forward to seeing how this game develops!!!! edit: hours after posting this the dev added a lock toggle feature, very pleased
This game really makes my brain hurt (dodging bullets and attacking to the beat can be quite challenging, especially if you're in expert mode), but holy crap is this game visually and auditorily GORGEOUS! It's pretty darn tough, too, but really satisfying once you start to work out what things do, how to deal with certain enemies, and what abilities to prioritize. Never thought I'd see a blend of bullet hell, roguelike, and rhythm game like this, and it surprisingly works!
A nice new spin on the Rythmgame genre.. and by spin I'm talking about fusing two completely different genres together. I've never seen anything like this before. This is why it struck out to me when I first tested it. (At Gamescom 2023 Cologne) It hast a really nice charme.. funky retro-looking graphics and a really nice soundtrack, where you can just tell, that this game was created with care and passion. But beware.... If you're in for a HARD game this might be just for you. Because this game is definetely very much hard.
This gave me RPG meets Rhythm Game vibes. Super unique and well made. Bringing two genres together to make something beautiful. I am VERY impressed with this game. Now I think it's time for me to bust out a controller so I can really get into this. I also need to see if there is timing adjustment options so I can play by sound and not by sight. Bravo to the creator or creators.
