About

Beasts of Bermuda is a multiplayer survival game in which the player is a dinosaur or other prehistoric creature. A player can take the role of flyers, swimmers, herbivores, carnivores, and semi-aquatic creatures that fulfill different niches in the ecosystem. No matter what the player chooses to be, the objective of the game is to survive and grow up on the islands of Bermuda by using their particular creature's abilities. Predation from other players as well as intense environmental events are the antagonistic forces in the game the player must survive against.
There are currently three game modes in Beasts of Bermuda.

In Free Roam game mode the player selects a creature of choice and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. They must survive and gradually grow larger over time. As growth accumulates, they also earn talents, which can be spent to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. In this mode growth is slower but resource management is easier.
In Life Cycle game mode the player selects a creature and spawns into the world as a juvenile of that species. You must survive and grow larger in a fast paced growth setting. As growth accumulates, you will earn talents to enhance different aspects of your creature's capabilities. After 1.32 growth you can choose to enter a stage called Gauntlet, where the difficulty of the game increases with growth in the form of food, water, and ailment management. In this mode growth is faster but resource management is harder. Compete on a monthly leaderboard to earn the top growth ranking for your species!
In Combat game mode players are pitted against one another with mechanics that are designed to reward conflict. Servers can use Deathmatch Maps which are smaller with close together spawn locations. The player spawns in as an adult creature of their choice and can accrue more talent points by killing other players and stealing their points. The game mode is endless and uses points and kill/death ratios to show who reigns supreme on the server.

Developer problem: The main Developer of the game is (currently at the time of this review) in deep cr*p with the community. Centred around him misgendering someone and proceeding to ban them when they had a problem with it. Also he has a reputation as someone who isn't kind to disabled people. Development problem: Recent updates and the new map have been lack-luster. Temporal Drift is very poorly optimized, very oversized and generally horribly designed. Drive to play: There's not much that makes BoB appeal more than the other dinosaur survival games besides the infinite growth mechanic. It does have some interesting playables such as the paleophis, but ultimately once you play, it gets wittled down to an afk growth simulator. PvP balance: There are some very questionable and just straight up fictional and overpowered mechanics given to some playables. Some encounters between playables are completely one-sided but that is to be expected with multi-periodic crossovers in PvP survival games. QOL: The full customization of skins is lovely. The natural disasters are very cool. Some of the mechanics, although not all, have very little description or demonstration as to how they work. Resurrection, shrines, trial points and inherits aren't explained very well. The graphics are sub-par. The movements are janky. The keybinds aren't properly customizable. The menu's are not user-friendly and are somewhat convoluted. Some of the species icons are so similar to each other that it's difficult to know which is which. Playerbase: The playerbase has a clan problem, or are made up of afkers that are just playing to achieve a bigger number statistic as there's nothing that really brings back casual players. Expected future: This game will most likely continue the "push out just enough new content to stop steam from doing something about the fact this game has been in Early Access for years as an excuse as to why its current state is debatably very poor"

More PVP than survival. Only servers that have players is US server. Player base is mostly minors. Extremely toxic playerbase. Source code was recently leaked. Yeah not alot going for it except DINOSAURS which is always cool. Also truly baffling design choices, the biggest threat to a fully grown adult T rex are juvenile and other small dinos, like wtf? On US servers the regular players sit in discord killing everyone else so only they get to actually play as aquatics. Its fun I guess but doubt it will ever reach a modicum of success.
Game needs to address hackers with something better than "record everything so you have proof they were hacking"
Might be a good game if there was a competent lead dev
Can confidently say that out of the big 3 (BoB, Path of Titans and The Isle) This game is by far the worst, I appreciate it's roster for having some very fun playables but something I often find weird about this game's community is they like to lord this games features over other dinosaur survival games despite those systems not being very good. Like Velo can climb, but the climbing system is terrible. Burrowing is cool... but its only on one playable that isn't very fun to play. The aquatic realm of playables is a cool idea and the diversity of playables there is nice but its mostly just megapacks of Mosasaurus "this kill on a baby rex crossing a river will go hard in my montage on my 20 subscriber channel" diehards or leviathian snakes that whilst very cool to look at, kinda spoil the experience. Speaking of that snake, Paleophis is the one of the only reasons I could recommend this game to someone. As much as I dislike this game, it is a monumental achievement in game design, something fresh and innovative in the dino survival market. It is just a shame that it is trapped in a survival game that can't decide if it wants to be seen as a genuine dinosaur survival experience or something more akin to an arcade game. Just to say, I'm fine with either direction, I just think the game suffers from a lack of good direction from the dev team. As far as community goes, none of the dino survival games are perfect, The Isle has its snobby realism dorks and Path of Titans has its discord mega-mixpackers but good lord this games community is awful. From my experience, there is a good portion of this community that would like to enjoy playing this game to its fullest and enjoy all the features that come with this game, and their is the other side who are content to sit by making their 8th batch of Para eggs that no one will nest into, on their neon eye-destroying dino typing away in chat about either some random ass political topic or ACTUALLY ROLEPLAYING AS THEIR DINO OC. I can really only recommend this game is for the snake due to its innovative design despite how hard it is to deal with it at times. The flyers are fun if you want to swoop down and steal eggs from the aforementioned roleplayers, its good engagement as stealing eggs is actually quite fun and it gives them something to do beside type and KOS baby carnis. The aquatic realm is fun in concept but is so barren that sometimes it feels like I'm playing a singleplayer game, that is until "Vermithor the Grand Magus discord mod" rolls up on his 12.7 Paleo and deletes me from existence. As a whole product, this game deserves its mixed reviews, there is some good but lord is it buried underneath piles and I mean piles of garbage. If you enjoy this game, good for you! Even monkeys enjoy bad fruit. If you are considering getting this game, don't. It is being heavily out competed by other dino survival games and it would take a No Mans Sky level turn around for this game to even come close to its competition. Save your money and have a wonderful day.
This is a good game in general, but usually the most fun ive had is with other players. it can be tedious if your by yourself, especially as a solo Small dinosaur.
