For generations, the people of Mercia have suffered under the rule of the dark sorceress Etheldred. Every seven years, her armies sweep across the land to abduct the innocent, never to be seen again. Now, the call for heroes has gone out one last time.
Battle Axe is a top-down hack and slash adventure inspired by the golden age of arcade games. Featuring detailed pixel art by industry veteran Henk Nieborg and a rousing soundtrack from Manami Matsumae, this is a true tribute to classic gaming.

Rooney the marauder crushes foes up close or fires cannonballs from afar
Fight your way through hordes of monsters and take down powerful bosses to reach Etheldred's stronghold in the North.
Attack in eight directions with a mix of melee strikes and ranged projectiles. Collect gold, find powerful scrolls and potions, and visit the mysterious merchant Ælfwyn to upgrade your gear between battles.

This is great old school arcade fun! If you play it like a twin stick shooter, you will be disappointed. However, if you play it via melee combat, it rocks.
I don't understand the mixed review, the game looks, sounds and feels great to play. I would've preferred the camera be zoomed out a bit more but it didn't bother me that much.
A top-down hack & slash game from the makers of Final Vendetta! It looks gorgeous and plays fantastic. Its also quite challenging, but very doable, once you know what to expect. There are 3 characters to choose from, and they all feel very different. The game has 4 stages, with an average run time of 30min. It has no continues or save system, as its meant to played over and over, from start to finish. So I do not mind the short run time. Though it would have been great if there were a few more stages, with branching paths, so each run is still 4 stages in total. Like how Treasure's Guardian Heroes did it.

Not even worth on sale. All flash, no substance. Boring gameplay, constantly respawning enemies and terrible level design.
A top-down gauntlet clone. Its a lot of fun.
