Game is really goood , die , repeat and die with same mistakes ( skill issues ) . Playing solo need a really big brain and skills . I joined a random player host , ... killed teammate 3 times then late realized host have Friendly fire on and because bad ping .
I dont know if i Had a lot of fun, Not sure what i think of the rats in the game. They are pure confusion inducing creatures!
This could BE the quintessential roguelike pixel dungeon crawler. Everything about it I love. But the real lack of progression, like modern roguelikes really makes me not want to play, the random loot can determine your run instantly. Combat is janky but its fine. This game needs risk reward and its always just risk, theres no stacking up on losses to help with the next run. It's just random difficulty for random difficulty sake. Imagine if Dead Cells didnt have unlocks between runs or Vampire Crawlers had zero unlocks and every run you just randomly had a chance to get a different character or if Rogue Legacy didnt have the descendants mechanic. Thats what this game is. ZERO Progression for a dungeon crawler. Its a perfect pick up on sale. You will get a few hours of fun, but after that it has no staying power for a solo player. And it should.
I wanted to love this game so bad, it looks so much like a game I would absolutely love. But unfortunately, there is way too much dumb, stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that will kill you.

i dont like it but i get fomo when my freinds play without me
reggie has tricked me into thinking this would be easy....... its not
Fun games, best played with friends who are avidly trying to work together to complete the goal. If your friends are out for themselves you're gonna have a bad time.
I'm gonna be honest, if my cousin wasn't there to play alongside me I would've refunded this game in 10 minutes. Everything about this Barony down to it's controls make this game UNBEARABLE to play. This game is trial and error, but it's the type where it won't let you learn what you were doing wrong. Barony is not meant to be single player rather, a co-op game. This game never considered that you would ACTUALLY play single player and treat your experience like you have a full squad by your side. The controls are also very impractical and it's not like you can change your controls anyway, if anything, you'd make them worse. Doing the most basic things in Barony with these controls feel like an absolute slog to deal with moreover, you don't really have anywhere you can hide to organize said inventory. Nothing about this game feels rewarding and lets say it does, the game will immediately will take it away from you with a cheap death. This game simply does not give you the time to understand the game which is you'll see many people only playing the game for an hour or so. 5/10
