Awesome. Had a lot of fun playing this one. Video of gameplay: https://youtu.be/pfbKcS4GJMw Sometimes VR games that do the simple things right can be a whole lot of fun to play. The different robots with different weapons are well thought out. The whole gameplay of being a mind that can capture other robots and become them makes the fun of the fight. Nothing better than almost being dead and capturing the one killing you than blowing your old host up with that robot inside. It's well worth the asking price and a definite buy for a fun VR game. Short review just check the video and see if it's for you. Note got game for free through curator program.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/T-eC7UJ0Z9o I bought this on sale for $7.49 USD during the Steam Winter Sale 2019. I pulled the trigger because of all the positive reviews. It seemed that this game had something original for the shooter genre and it was not just another wave shooter. While I do recommend this game, I am a bit disappointed with the overall lack of polish this game has. I experienced several bugs during my short playthrough. The game took me about 3 hours to finish, but that was mostly because of said bugs. It does have full locomotion & snap turning as well as a comfort & teleportation option. In this game, you possess enemy robots. It's a cool concept, but there's just an overall clunkiness that keeps it from being a great game. You can possess an archer robot, (with an electric arrow if you pull back on the notched arrow long enough), or a machine gun robot, or a robot with a revolver and a magic wand, or a missile-packing robot, or a jousting robot. None of them felt great on their own. The bow & arrow compared to other games is very mediocre in the shot mechanic. The machine gun just feels inaccurate. The mechanic for the missiles where you raise and lower your motion controllers like you're pulling on a string just feels gimmicky and not a good mechanic to use to boot. While I do like the level designs for the most part, it also reuses several assets from prior levels. It makes progressing through the game just feel empty. While there is a narrated story here, it is completely forgettable. The voice overs are pretty bad. The worst part of this game was definitely the last boss fight. Not because it's a bad boss fight (in fact, I thought it was a pretty inventive one). It was bad because of all the bugs I experienced. For whatever reason, enemy trash spawns stop intermittently throughout the fight. If they stop, you can't beat the boss. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this and ended up fighting the boss for a good 15-25 minutes until I finally gave up and decided to restart. I finally realized that you need the trash spawns, but they would stop spawning on several attempts. I also fell through the gameworld on a very good run where I almost had the boss beat. Per the achievements, only 3% of players have beaten the game on normal. That's not a good sign for such a short game. I don't know if players got bored before the end or if they ran into the errors that I did. Rate 6.5/10. I wanted to like the game more, but the overall lack of polish and the bugs really brought the experience down for me.
This game is pretty remarkable. Its a pretty simple concept and can be easily grasped by anyone, new or old to VR. The game has a great art design and fun levels that offer a challenge for those interested. The game feels well polished with minimal bugs or issues. The level and enemy design is fun and dynamic. This is definitely one of the better experiences I've had playing a VR title and I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, charismatic game to play. For those interested I played this game with Vive Wireless and Index controllers without issues.
1st Impressions Video with Commentary // Oculus Rift S // GTX 1060 (6GB): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrKAfqKIoGQ My Initial Thoughts: A fast, fun and frantic robot action shooter with a unique theme, great environments and quirky story. I really enjoyed the combat in this game and the ability to posses and take over different robots was a nice touch. Loads of fun!
Gameplay: https://youtu.be/jfc-TCP6LLo Very entertaining game, didnt know anything about it, just saw it was recently released and got it bc of the discount. I already played up to mission 5, So far ive seen different types of missions, from defending from waves of enemies, to clearing all enemies on the area, to defending a flagpole, to advancing on a level to reach a Cathedral, or to take hold of a Castle... Single player campaign, with some silly humor, and missions with different objectives, and a well done "possessing" enemies mechanic. Had to lower graphics to LOW on a r5 3600 with a gtx1080 to get 90fps an that doesnt seem like very good performance, but the graphics still looked really good... As with any newly released VR games, it still has to polish some stuff, but what ive played is really good, its way more complete than a LOT of games ive seen released. Recommended.
A super fun and quirky game, love the concept and the execution. I would say this is a must buy VR game as it's something that is entirely unique and an incredibly satisfying experience. The setting is robot sky pirates and it gives me a strong Bioshock Infinite vibe whenever I play it, which I love. The only problem I have is that there's no smooth turning option or way to change movement from headset direction to controller direction at the moment, but that's just personal preference. Well worth the price ^^ About 3 hours long.
One of the most well realised VR worlds I've experienced. The art direction is uniquely delightful and fun and feels like you're in a fantastic steampunkish world. The gameplay is fun too and the switching between bodies is a great mechanic which feels just right and allows you to choose bodies which suit your preferred play style. The set pieces are well thought out and convey the sense of epicness that is one of the best aspects of gaming in VR. It's a fun quirky shooter with aspects that appeal to a diverse range of players and I really hope it does well, it deserves to. I should mention I played on a Vive with wands and had no control issues and it played very smoothly, not sure why one other review claimed there was a problem as they didn't specify what their issue was.
Amazing and fun game! Really love the atmosphere and the music of the game and also nice variety of weapons to shoot robotic scallywags with.
Simple, easy to learn controls, great concept. fun game play, most vr games are not woth their 10$ price tags but this is quite a gem
Enjoyable, but buggy to the point of being unplayable at times. Particularly the ending. There was no way to complete the gaem because of the bugs. I enjoyed the ride though, mostly.
