Ballistic. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Let me start by saying that this game is no joke. The devs weren't kidding in the trailer when they said the game has a "vicious skill curve." This game is HARD. If you're the kind of gamer that loves a challenge, pick this game up, you wont regret it. This is the kind of platformer that takes both skill and precision to play, and the game isn't going to hold your hand AT ALL. Besides a bare-bones keybind guide, you're given little to no instruction on how to actually play. You just have to start playing and learn the hard way; Through trial-and-error. You have to learn how to wall-jump with megadrive. How to abuse slo-mo to bash drones and to aim jumps. How to get a giant speed boost by ramming yourself into the floor several times in quick succession. Prepare for a master-class in platforming. Prepare to miss jumps and scream "FUUUUUHHHHHCCCCCKKK" at the top of your lungs. Prepare to restart that level for the 100th time to get that ONE jump JUST right. I've been playing for 6 hours and only made it to level 6... Out of 33 levels. It's what Super Meat Boy would be like if it were made in 3D. But you know what? I keep coming back. There's something weirdly addictive about it. I'm DETERMINED to beat this game. What seems at first like an overly simple game mechanic - getting boost charges by colliding with things - turns out to be a surprisingly satisfying way to navigate. Once you get comfortable, you'll find yourself banging your shiny metal body into surfaces in time with the beat and careening around recklessly, ricocheting from wall to floor to ceiling and making giant leaps of faith. The levels are very cleverly designed. Each level adds some new wrinkle to the experience. And when you finally DO beat a level you've been working on, woooo boy that feels nice! On top of it all, the game has BEAUTIFUL art. I constantly find myself enjoying the lighting and effects. It's got a crazy retro-neon vaporwave vibe that is very pleasing to look at. It also has a long soundtrack full of relaxing tracks to help calm you down when you get blasted off of a platform by a laser for the umpteenth time. I'm hooked! Give it a shot!
Bouncing controlable wrecking ball concept is original and a lot of fun however it's been terribly implemented in this game. 1st challenge is trying to bounce a basket ball around to hit two gnat-sized drones in a massive gymnasium and challenges become more long-winded, inane and tedius from there Would be awesome to see another indie take this ball concept and run with it because the general idea and controls are enjoyable.
Very addicting, probably one of the hardest games ive ever played (meatboy is nothing compared to this), but is very rewarding. Amazingly beutiful , simplistic art style which I love. Excellent neon futuristic soundtrack
Super addictive, come in planning to play for a few hours and wind up sinking hours into it. But my god it can be tough sometimes. The first level alone will forge you in its fires. The soundtrack is excellent too.
It's actually a much harder game than i thought it would be but it's good and i think that's actually part of what makes it good tbh, too many games nowadays seem like they're intentionally less difficult for the hand holding factor. If you play it you'll see what i mean though, it's good.
Ballistic is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. I always loved physics games and I always loved violent games and Ballistic brings physics and violence together in such a perfect harmony. It's a really difficult game but the controls are very responsive and everything has a very satisfying, dynamic feeling. the levels are set up in a straightforward, arcade style format. there are no checkpoints, so you have to beat each level all teh way through without dying. this is where the game might induce a rage quit or two, especially on the really difficult levels, but knowing that everything is on the line is what makes your pulse go up as you near the end of a level. The soundtrack is just astonishing. if you like synthwave music, this is a masterfully curated collection. i sometimes pause the game to smoke and i just end up sitting and listening to the music for a long time.
Thought maybe everyone in the comments was just casul, but this is stupidly hard. Will definitely be playing this for a long time
The core gameplay loop is very addictive. I love going fast, smashing into things, and using bullet time to either correct my trajectory or to make for cool impact visuals as I travel at breakneck speeds. Once you get a feel for how strong the launch kick is you start to not need the bullet time feature for normal jumps anymore, making you able to clear some levels with a target time of 1 minute in about 15 seconds in a glorious sequence of well angled jumps. You may find that after only a couple of hours of playtime you begin to perfect your movement, being able to move faster and with more power than before, and without making an accidental and fatal plunge off the edge. The feeling you get from it is true enjoyment and pride in your skill and results. While some levels are less fun and in my opinion work against the appeal of this game (looking at you, tombstone level), most levels are quite vast and allow you to quickly launch yourself across the vaporcore themed A E S T H E T I Cs. (Not to mention the killer soundtrack!) While the game lacks polish and proper level design in some cases, this game has great potential and I hope that the developers will consider making another installment in the future and trying to perfect the gameplay. BALLISTIC is a terribly ugly creature, and I love it to death. I think it could evolve into something truly extraordinary.
Very poor controls, and boring. This is a waste because it looked really cool.
Ballistic, developed and published by Electrovore, is one of those indie games that immediately stands apart through sheer originality. Set on the troubled resort planet of Scrota-II, the game casts players as a heavily armed, self-aware robotic sphere on a mission to overthrow the despotic Lordpriest Cux. The premise embraces absurd science-fiction from the outset, establishing a tone that is equal parts humorous, bizarre, and unapologetically over-the-top. While its narrative serves mostly as a backdrop for the action, it injects enough personality into the experience to keep players invested as they blast and bounce their way through a world in desperate need of liberation. What makes Ballistic memorable is its complete dedication to momentum-based gameplay. Instead of walking, running, or jumping in a traditional sense, players launch themselves across environments, using speed and physics as both a means of traversal and a weapon. Every stage becomes a test of spatial awareness and precision, forcing players to think about angles, timing, and momentum simultaneously. The learning curve is steep, but there is a genuine sense of accomplishment when navigating a difficult section flawlessly. The game's 33 levels steadily introduce new hazards and challenges, ensuring that players are consistently adapting rather than simply repeating the same strategies. Combat is tightly interwoven with movement, creating encounters that feel chaotic yet deliberate. Enemies are often positioned in ways that encourage aggressive play, rewarding players for maintaining speed rather than slowing down to approach cautiously. This design choice keeps the pacing fast and energetic, though it can occasionally lead to frustration when physics behave unpredictably. Ballistic is clearly designed with replayability in mind, inviting players to improve their performance and refine their routes through repeated attempts. Those who enjoy arcade-style experiences and skill-based progression will likely appreciate the game's refusal to compromise its vision. Visually, Ballistic adopts a simple but effective aesthetic that complements its gameplay. The environments are colorful and strange, fitting the game's eccentric setting without overwhelming the player during high-speed movement. Explosions and enemy destruction provide satisfying visual feedback, while the soundtrack helps sustain the adrenaline throughout each level. Despite being an independent production with limited resources, the game succeeds in establishing a cohesive identity that feels distinctly its own. Its presentation may not rival larger productions, but it possesses a charm rooted in creativity rather than technical spectacle. That said, Ballistic's greatest strength can also be its biggest weakness. The reliance on physics means that some moments feel less like failures of skill and more like battles against inconsistency. Players seeking a casual experience may find the challenge excessive, particularly during later levels where precision becomes increasingly important. The campaign's relatively short length may also leave some players wanting more, especially once they have mastered the mechanics. Nevertheless, these shortcomings do little to diminish the ambition behind the project. Ultimately, Ballistic is an unconventional title that succeeds by committing wholeheartedly to its central concept. It offers a refreshing alternative to standard action-platformers by transforming movement itself into the heart of the experience. While its difficulty and occasional rough edges prevent it from appealing to everyone, those willing to embrace its demanding gameplay will discover an inventive and entertaining indie adventure. Electrovore may not have created a mainstream hit, but they delivered a game with a distinctive personality and a mechanical identity that remains memorable long after the credits roll. Rating: 6/10
