Such a classic still. Maybe not so pretty or as flashy as new games, but the story and exploration stand the test of time! About to do another playthrough!
Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition already includes the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. I also purchased Siege of Dragonspear as DLC. When the original game was released, I was a child and didn’t really understand it, which is why I appreciate the Enhanced Edition so much. Years later, I finally managed to play it, fall in love with it, and complete it. Baldur’s Gate 1 is already a computer gaming legend and a translation of the D&D system onto our screens. The story is very interesting, as we mainly learn about ourselves, our origins, and our destiny. Many of our decisions have an impact on the gameplay and the behavior of our party. I made the mistake of having two evil-aligned characters in my party, and when I kept doing good deeds throughout the lands, they eventually decided they didn’t like me and left. Remember, this is D&D, so if somebody tell you to go to a safe inn, you can always go to a mine with a necromancer you happened to meet along the way. What could possibly go wrong? The game is definitely addictive. At some point, you leave the main storyline behind and enter yet another cave simply because you’re curious about what you might find there. There are plenty of main and side quests, and they vary quite a lot. I didn’t notice much repetition. The Tales of the Sword Coast expansion is integrated into the game and can easily be missed, so I recommend exploring the map as much as possible. It’s your adventure. I spent 87 hours on the game, including the expansion and DLC, although I know I still haven’t seen everything. As for the Siege of Dragonspear DLC, it’s also worth playing, as it serves as a sort of bridge between the first and second games. The DLC does contain a lot of combat, much more than the base game. Overall, I recommend it. It’s more suited to fans of classic isometric RPGs and the D&D system. If you enjoy it after the first 2-3 hours, you’ll probably end up spending 100 hours in the game. One additional note: I played the game on Steam Deck. It requires a bit of tweaking of the controls, but if you spend half an hour setting everything up, the experience afterward will make it worth it.

제가 어린 시절에 이미 발더스게이트나 아이스 윈드데일 같은 게임들은 명작이었습니다. 다만 그때 굉장히 비싼 게임이었고, 컴퓨터도 비쌌기 때문에 그 당시에 직접 해보지는 못했습니다. 그리고 시간이 흘러 다시 하려니, 낡은 게임이라는 생각이 들고 불편할 것 같다는 생각이 많이 들더군요. 그런 이유로 이 게임의 플레이를 미루고 미뤘습니다. 정작 최신 게임인 발더스3를 그렇게 재미있게 해놓고도 말이죠. 그러다 문득 역대 메타 점수 순위에 발더스2가 꽤 상위권인걸 보고 나니 다시 관심이 가기 시작했습니다. 2를 하려면 그래도 1은 해야겠지 싶어서 검색해보니 이미 인핸스드 에디션이 나와있고, 거기에 공식 한글화까지 되어 있었습니다. 안할 이유가 없어서 직접 플레이를 해봤는데요... 아.... 훌륭합니다. 진짜 훌륭합니다. 그래픽이나 전투 같은건 확실히 오래된 게임 답게 구리고 좀 느릿느릿합니다. 초반부에 밀리 클래스들이 허우적 허우적거리면서 공격이 더럽게 안맞는건 어찌 보면 리니지를 떠올리게 합니다. 사실 리니지가 dnd 룰의 crpg 게임들에서 영감을 받았으니 당연하다고 보긴 합니다. 실시간 정지 전투도 필라스 때는 좀 되게 별로라고 생각했는데 생각보다 할만 합니다. 대신 필라스는 정지 해놓고 타겟의 상세 정보? 같은걸 보면서 전략적 선택을 내릴 수 있는 근거가 있었는데 이 게임은 정보를 알 수 있는 방법이 없어서 공략을 모르면 꽤나 해매고 세이브 로드를 많이하게 구성되어 있었습니다. 이런건 좀 아쉽기는 한데.... 뭐 옛날 게임이니까요. 그러나 이 게임의 진정한 재미는 전투나 그래픽에 있는게 아닙니다. 바로 재미있는 텍스트와 정말로 모험하거나 성장한다는 느낌이 있는 잘 설계된 레벨 디자인입니다. 특히 참 좋다고 느낀게 직접 몸으로 부딪혀서 알아낸 "정보" 없이는 정말로 어려운 게임이지만, 사실 정보가 있으면 꽤 쉬운 게임입니다. 예를 들어, 초반부 지역에 숨겨진 아이템들이 어디 있는지만 알아도 든든한 아이템들을 챙기고 스타트가 가능하고 중반부 성장까지 엄청나게 쉬워집니다. 그리고 전투하는 방법에 대해서도 감을 잡으면 전투 난이도가 확 낮아집니다. 예를 들어 건강 수치를 높인 한손검 방패 파이터를 전열에 박아넣고 나머지 파티원들을 원거리 공격으로 가득 채워넣고 전투하는 방식은 꽤나 전투 난이도가 쉬워집니다. 그리고 인간형 대상으로 거의 깡패 수준으로 작동하는 수면마법, 공포마법 같은건 써보기 전에는 모르는데 써보고 나면 와.... 게임이 한 10배 쉬워집니다. 이런식으로 부딪혀서 얻은 지식을 통해 게임의 난이도가 기하 급수적으로 낮아지게 설계가 되어 있습니다. 이를 위해서 퀵세이브와 로드를 통해 의도적으로 실패를 반복하게 설계되어 있다는 느낌을 강하게 받습니다. 때문에 도전 후 실패가 불쾌하다기보다는 아. 다음에는 이렇게 해야겠다라는 교훈을 얻게 만듭니다. 하지만 이런 실패나 맵 전반을 싹싹 훑는게 힘드시다 하시면, 구글에 검색하면 공략을 엄청나게 공을 들여서 정리해둔 티스토리가 있거든요? 그걸 보시면 됩니다. 진짜 거의 위키 수준으로 자세하게 정리가 되어 있습니다. --------------------------------- 총평 불친절한 것 같지만 사실 머리 박아보면 금방 파악되는 게임 디자인 철학. 상당히 재미있는 텍스트. (요즘 AAA 게임들도 어디 초딩만도 못한 글 품질이 널려 있는데 그것에 비하면 정말 재밌다.) 개 후진 그래픽. 저처럼 오래된 게임이라는 편견 때문에 꺼려졌던 분이라도 반드시 플레이를 해보시길 추천 드립니다. 이런 비유가 맞는지 모르겠으나, 우리가 고전 소설을 오래됐다고 안읽지 않잖아요? 시대를 타지 않는 불멸의 명작으로 취급하고 세대를 거쳐 읽혀지듯, 이 게임 역시 그러하다고 생각합니다. 이 게임을 해봄으로써 현대 게임들이 어떤 식으로 과거 게임에서 영감을 받았는지, 그것을 확실히 알 수 있습니다. 또한 이 옛 방식의 디자인 철학이 단순히 낡았다 라기 보다 여전히 재미있고 잘 작동한다는 것을 확인할 수 있습니다.
Баэлотик и Дорн топовые няшки, один всю игру называет тебя грязной свиньёй, второй по лору перерезал всю деревню вместе с женщинами и детьми. Один минус - половину прохождения заебывал перс по имени КОРАН из-за своего доброго мировоззрения, поэтому приходилось постоянно ходить в мечеть отмаливать грехи (потом нашелся предмет проклятый на смену мировоззрения) А вообще игра, конечно, плохо состарилась, сюжета особо нет, да и перевод ужасный, под седьмую главу играть уже утомляет. Но с поправкой на время 10/10

I'm a sucker for old school games and very much appreciate that the creators did not remake or remaster this game with the "Enhanced version." And though I'm not good at keyboard/mouse combo for controllers, I've always wanted to get an immersive computer game. In Baldur's Gate 1 everything is controlled by the mouse and this was something I didn't know existed outside of point+click games much less an crpg/rpg. So this was the perfect game for my capabilities. This game is a pretty difficult for a casual gamer like me. I may put it on easy mode haha
